not a bad episode. so did hawkins just admit to being a federal agent of some sorts or was it a lie to get his daughter off his back? i'm thinking federal something or other.

the farmer with the deaf sister is so gonna nail the irs auditor.

i liked that we got to see more into jake's background as to why he left. and who exactly is coming and why jake should be alarmed should be interesting.

i like the ending even though it was kinda sappy. i'm a firm believer in karma and i always try to help someone in need. i like to think that we would rally around someone and help. i would.

NY - NY
TX - Dallas
MI - Detroit
IL - Chicago
MN - St. Paul
CO - Denver
KS - Topeka?
CA - San Diego

I'm still so on-the-fence about this show I'm starting to split in two. I love the idea but poor writing is killing me. The man complaining about the leaking water main flooding his yard should have been shot on sight and so should have anyone that didn't realize that thousands of gallons of potable water was being wasted. Food and water will be more valuable than anything else very quickly, I don't care how many EMP proof laptops you have if you are dyeing of starvation. To soapy, to dumb, to poorly thought out and yet I watch. Please call my therapists - I'm not well.

Thanks to NOFUSS I don't even have the satisfaction of thinking that DC got hit so we can be rid of all that vermin.

AH! But if you saw the teaser for next week, the new person says D.C. is gone!

Hawkins says that the laptop is issued by the gov't, but he doesn't say *which* government! Maybe he's a good guy (i'm leaning that way). I think Jake is just a guy with a past. Plenty of "good guys" have a past. It happens. The problem he has at this point in the series is that his past won't leave him alone.

I'm loving it... last night was better for me because there was less technical discussion (so they couldn't get more of that stuff wrong) and more of the human element.

I think the writing is sufficiently suspenseful and the dialogue is about as good as you can get from network TV.

I agree that farmer boy an IRS girl are gonna get to know one another, in a biblical sense.

Yea it was not too bad of an episode. I got the sense that this is going to turn into Wild West show Ala Mad Max. Which would be kind of neat, but other than finding out more information about the environment and who they are at war with was kind of gives you a bit more suspence. I saw the preview for next week. How the heck does the guy go from 3 maybe 4 weeks to get to New York. Especially now since they have had 2 weeks of no electricity due to an EMP.

Hopefully they will explain the situation a bit more, or perhaps he just spoke with someone that had been to those places.

As per map quest. (Witchita - New York)

Total Est. Time: 21 hours, 51 minutes Total Est. Distance: 1387.51 miles

Average person walks 3 miles an hour. That's 462.33 hours or 19 days. So I guess he could have made it if he managed keep his truck intact. Also if you map it out from Witchita, to New York. It takes you through Indianapolis, which makes me wonder now how that town faired because it isn't on a target list.
