Journeyman

Journeyman

Basic Summary

Dan Vassar thought he had it all: a great wife, a great job, and a great son. But just as Dan thinks his life is as it should be, he is thrown for a loop when he finds himself traveling into the past and in doing so impacts people's lives -- sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. While doing so, Dan is able to reconnect with Livia Beale, his ex-fiancée who supposedly died in a mysterious plane crash.

Details on Season One

Livia has been accompanying Dan throughout his Journeys. Although they do travel together it is still unsure as to why they're time travelers and it is unclear as to whether or not we will ever find out.

Although it was identified that Livia died on a plane and no body was ever found, in actuality she disappeared. Nobody knew where she went and when Dan met up with her on his first journey he wanted answers. Later it was identified that Livia is from the 1940s and met Dan on accident. For some strange reason time wasn't letting her go back to her era so she adjusted.

It has been mentioned that Dan can go back in time and Livia goes to the future. There are conditions though, as they can only go backward or forward to times where they are alive. Livia has mentioned that the journeys will get longer.

Due to low ratings, despite the critics' enthusiasm on the series, it is removed from the schedule after the thirteenth episode.

This is a time traveling show , as you can see from the description for the show. All shows of this type always have a bit problem - explaining how and why and meaning of life and paradoxes because of this. After watching this first episode it seems like the writers are going to reveal things slowly and will actually do a decent job. I think this because of the way they left a lot of motivations, actions and questions not answered - and clearly implied that these subtle things we'll find out as time progresses. Read more

I think this is probably going to be one of the best new shows of the year. It follows here which is in the same lines. Read more

Into each season, a great show must be introduced....

That show must be destroyed.

Such was the fate of Journeyman, one of the best new series of 2007. While, on the surface, it looked very derivative of Quantuum Leap, it was actually far more inventive and effective in its brief run. It is unfortunate that the show got cancelled without a longer run opportunity to gain an audience, although credit NBC for giving it more of a chance than the other networks have done with other similarly inventive shows (cf. "Drive", "Day Break", "Love Monkey", "Wonderfalls") Read more

Recaps
1x1: Pilot (A Love Of A Lifetime) recap: Meet Dan Vasser. He's a family man, a reporter and a dude with some serious blackout issues. Just as he's about to hop in a taxi to celebrate his wedding anniversary with the missus, he has a bizarre trip back in time to watch the end of a classic ballgame and to catch one last glimpse of his lost love Livia before she supposedly dies in a plane crash. Not a terribly long trip back in time but just long enough to freak him out a bit when he finally shows up to his anniversary dinner a few hours later. He chalks it all up to a weird dream and goes on with his life in present day. However, not soon after he and his wife "reaffirm" their love for each other that very night, he's off on another crazy adventure through time. This time he awakens to find himself among the homeless in Golden Gate Park. He runs back to his home to find a stranger living there and learns that the year is actually 1987. Meanwhile, back in 2007, his wife Kate is frantically searching for him and goes to his brother for help. His brother suggests that perhaps he's left her for another woman, but since his only other love Livia died nine years earlier, she's positive it's something else... read more.
