Maxine works to give custody of a deaf boy to his teenaged brother after both their parents are killed and they are left orphaned. Meanwhile, Bruce and Amy take opposite stances on a case involving interracial adoption; Vincent lands a job as a writing teacher; Donna asks for Amy's help in arranging a conjugal visit; and Vincent learns a secret about his father.
