1 :01x01 - Secret Origins (1) (Nov/17/2001)
Batman investigates a Wayne Tech Metropolis Sub-station and there he finds alien activity. Three fake technicians send a signal from Sub-station’s satellite dish. Batman tries to stop them, but he’s overwhelmed by their superior strength. Meanwhile, Superman undertakes a plan designed by Senator Carter to disarm the world. Batman pursues his investigations at an abandoned STAR laboratory, and at that same night, a fiery meteor-like object crashes in a nearby park. An alien tripod war-machine emerges from inside the meteor and begins destroying everything in its way. Batman and Superman try to fight this menace off, but the Man of Steel is assaulted with overwhelming telepathic images that hold him back. However, these strange images might be the key to the world’s salvation.

Batman, Superman and J’onn attempt to fight off the alien invaders, but they are outnumbered. J’onn telepathically summons Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and the Flash to aid them in this crisis. Diana, the Amazon Princess now donning an ensemble of magical artefacts, shows up in time to save Hawkgirl. Together, they manage to repel the alien fighter squadron. The heroes spit into teams to take on the alien invaders, who have unleashed several tentacled factories throughout the planet. However, things go awry when one on the heroes fall in battle.

Diana, J’onn, Green Lantern and the Flash plan to rescue Superman and Hawkgirl, who are imprisoned inside the alien factory. However, the plan goes wrong and the team is imprisoned as well. An impending doom seems inevitable as a huge spaceship transporting the controlling alien, the Imperium, approaches Earth. However, a surprising turn of events bodes for the heroes.

On a distant planet, Ajuris, a court has called upon the Manhunters – a group of robotic warriors – to seek out and return with an accused criminal: John Stuart, a.k.a. Green Lantern. The League, soon sees (first hand) the power and wrath of these androids; in the heat of battle, Green Lantern suddenly appears. Without offering any explanation, he surrenders himself and his ring, and flies off with the hunters, all the while the rest of the onlooking League are beyond perplexed. With John offering no answers whatsoever, the League has no choice but to seek them for themselves.

Still unconvinced of the prosecution’s accusations, Superman and J’onn decide to investigate the facts for themselves. In the meanwhile, the Flash attempts to delay the trial, and Hawkgirl tries to enlist John's fellow Green Lanterns’ help with very unconventional methods. Superman, J’onn, and Hawkgirl come to the conclusion that John has been framed, and this whole ordeal turns out to be a ploy to drive the Guardians of the Universe away from Oa for some obscure reason.

The Justice League manages to get incriminating evidence against Lex Luthor, and send him to prison. However, upon being diagnosed with a terminal illness, Luthor recruits the Ultra-Humanite to get away from prison and get back at Superman, whom he blames for his infirmity. He then bands together a group of super-criminals – comprising of Cheetah, Copperhead, Solomon Grundy, The Shade, and Star Sapphire – thus forming the Injustice Gang. They attack on the League, and despite being forced to flee, they manage to hurt one Leaguer. Later on, a new villain steps in volunteering his services, and with his help, the Gang capture one hero.
