  Episode Quotes
The Master: I know you are here, Boston Brand.
Deadman: (appears) What’s the point of being a flippin’ ghost if you can’t even sneak up on people?

Devil Ray: Grodd never sends us to any place nice...

Guard: This humble one begs your forgiveness, but to enter this sacred place the right must be earned.
Devil Ray: (shoots him dead) Keep the change.

Devil Ray: (chuckles) Little Bruce Lee’s got your number. Lucky thing you got us for backup.

Lex Luthor: Bizarro, you despise me right?
Bizarro: Uhuh. Bizarro hate Luthor. Me do anything for he.
Lex Luthor: Good-- I mean, bad. Anyway, take care of those monks.

Devil Ray: When Giganta gets out of prison, she ain’t gonna appreciate you hanging on to her boyfriend like that.
Tala: That’s her problem. Giganta is not nearly enough woman for Grodd.

Deadman: Gorilla City?
Wonder Woman: A hidden city of super intelligent talking gorillas with technology far beyond anything humans have created.
Deadman: (pause) No, really...
Wonder Woman: You’re the ghost from the Himalayas having trouble believing this?
Deadman: Point!

Deadman: You know, when they beam down on that TV show, they never miss...

Deadman: (possessing Superman) Looks like a job for Superman!

Deadman: (possessing Wonder Woman) You killed my teacher, my friends!
Devil Ray: You’ll have to be more specific, lady. I’ve killed a lot of people.

(Deadman leaves Wonder Woman’s body)
Wonder Woman: Next time, ask permission!

(After being turned back from being apes)
Superman: Is everything OK?
Wonder Woman: Well, I’m sorta missing Flash’s obligatory joke about how Grodd made a monkey out of us...
Superman: Just couldn’t let it go unsaid...
Wonder Woman: Obligatory...

Lex Luthor: (to Grodd) I wasn’t going to do this for another few weeks, but seriously, turning all of humanity into apes?! That was your masterplan? (shoots him)

  Episode Goofs
How could Grodd be shot at close range without even trying to attack Luthor. Grodd has mental powers, which means he would have at least seen it coming before Luthor even stood up, but not only did he seem surprised, but also didn't do anything while Luthor was pointing at him and monologuing.

  Cultural References
Devil Ray: (chuckles) Little Bruce Lee’s got your number. Lucky thing you got us for backup.

Bruce Lee is considered to be the greatest martial arts film actor of the 20th century.

Deadman: You know, when they beam down on that TV show, they never miss...

"That" TV show is with all certainty Star Trek.

Deadman: (possessing Superman) Looks like a job for Superman!

This was an ongoing line in the old Superman series.

  Episode References
Bizarro Logic

Lex Luthor: Bizarro, you despise me right?
Bizarro: Uhuh. Bizarro hate Luthor.

In his comic incarnations, Bizarro's logic followed a pattern of saying the opposite of what he meant, so when he said "friend,” he meant “enemy,” when he said “save,” he meant “kill.”

"Balance"

Tala: I owe Grodd everything. I would still be trapped in that mirror if he hadn’t freed me.

Tala is referring to the time when she was tricked by Felix Faust and ended up being trapped in a mirror.

"To Another Shore"

  • Devil Ray: When Giganta gets out of prison, she ain’t gonna appreciate you hanging on to her boyfriend like that.
  • Mr. Terrific: Do you guys remember the one bit of information J'onn was able to pull out of Giganta’s mind before it shut down?

  • "This Little Piggy"

Wonder Woman: You’re sure that’s not the magician you saw?

The first woman Wonder Woman shows Deadman is Circe, who turned Wonder Woman into a pig.

    "I Am Legion"

Batman: First sign of Luthor since Shayera saw him on Blackhawk Island.

    "Secret Society (1)"

Wonder Woman: Grodd. Think he’s built together a new Secret Society?

The Secret Society was the first group of Supervillains brought together by Gorilla Grodd with the sole purpose of bringing the Justice League down. Its member included Grodd, as the leader, Giganta, Sinestro, Parasite, The Shade, Killer Frost and Clayface.

"The Brave and the Bold (1)"

    Deadman: Gorilla City?
Wonder Woman: A hidden city of super intelligent talking gorillas with technology far beyond anything humans have created.

      Analysis
    Batman vs. Guns

Batman’s repulse upon realizing he killed someone with a gun – even if unwillingly – refers back to his childhood trauma of having witnessed the murder of his parents. From that day one, he never used a single gun in his crime fighting. This incident will most likely have future repercussions.
