I am confused. Tim Daly played Superman on "Superman", but then George Newbern took up the role on Justice League. But in the Superman guide, it says that Tim Daly is to reprise his role as Superman in a new DTV movie. Why would they have George Newbern play Supes for 5 seasons of Justice League, only to have TIm Daly play him in a new movie?

Beats me. In spite of how much I prefer Tim Daly's voice as Superman over George Newbern's, I think it's very disrespectful towards Newbern's work, since Daly declined the reprisal of his role back in 2001 because he wanted to focus on his "acting career". Newbern filled in for him and now they kick him in the butt as if he was a temp once Daly agrees to reprise the role for a movie.

I didn't like George Newbern's portrayal at the beginning, but he kinda grows in you. Show some respect for him!!!

Not to be the dumb one of the conversation but to me their voices are similar.

I think George puts a bit more emotion in his voice than Daly did.

Daly was good, but there's not much difference really, the two sound very simialer, Newbern is just a little darker and less boy-scouty. I like 'em both, don't really care.

Which is why they cast Newbern in the first place.

I have to say that I prefer Daly to Newbern... especially during the first season of Justice League. Maybe at first it was because I could tell it was a different actor, but I went back and watched the first season on DVD recently and his voice just seemed off. As Justice League went on, I think Newbern grew into the role better and ended up doing a great job.

On the other hand, I think Tim Daly nailed it from day one. As much as Newbern does a great job, I think Daly is just a little better. I'm glad he's coming back for the DTV... although, I'm disappointed the Clancy Brown didn't return to play Luthor.

Tim Daly was replaced because he had other commitments; he was slated to star in that CBS TV series version of The Fugitive a year after S:TAS ended. That's why George Newbern was brought in.

As for which voice is better, I don't really have a preference. It took some time to get used to Newbern's voice as Supes, but I eventually adapted to it.
