After hosting one her favorite events "Best in Show", she works the room to get as many phone numbers as she can for her upcoming Toys for Tots fundraiser. Matt goes to have his physical evaluation for the Gastric Bypass surgery he is hoping to have. Worried that he will fall short of the weight requirement by a few pounds he makes sure to suit up with some ankle weights and one in his pocket just in case. Mike Neilsen moves into the house to redesign Kathy and Matt's house. Kathy finishes out the episode the same way it started, hosting a charity event. She gets a picture Warren Beatty which is a nice way to end the evening after she bombs with the crowd at the event.
It's time for Kathy's annual Toys for Tots fundraiser and she is trying to get as many celebrities as she can to attend. The more stars that will be there, the more press she will get, and the more press she gets the more publicity she gets for her house which ultimately means more free stuff. Kathy is counting on free furniture for redecorating her house by convincing the designers she can get them great publicity. When party time finally comes around the celebs turn out including Ray Romano, James Denton, Jenny McCarthy, Jamie Lynn DeScala, and Andy Dick.
Kathy's first stand up comedy DVD is released so it's time to hit the promotional tour on a nation wide trip. She attends the Radio Broadcast Awards in Vegas, a radio junket where they mispronounce her name, The Tonight Show in LA, The View, and The John McEnroe Show in NYC, where Kathy is able to insult the host before she even goes on the air. Kathy talks her husband Matt into selling DVDs from a table outside her stand up gigs. She also gets her parents in on the action when she gets them to come to her signing party in Hollywood; however they won't buy a CD for her to sign citing that they just couldn't spend 15 bucks for a CD no matter how much they love her.
Kathy scrambles to get ready for her E! red carpet show she will be doing at the Grammies. Finding out that she has the job 5 days before the show doesn't give her much time to prepare and she clammers to find a dress (which turns out to be trying sense Kathy doesn't meet the -1 size standard of hollywood) someone to do her hair, her makeup and write her material for the special. She has to pull this all off and make a trip to her home town to perform to a sold out audience just 48 hours before the big show.
Kathy travels, going out on the road to continue to promote her new DVD and keep her career going. She flies to Vegas to perform her role as a female Elvis in a movie she is doing, does an interview with a Houston reporter, travels to several radio stations to do the morning shows, does a TV interview, and does a show at the Improv. She returns home in time to receive an award for being one of the funniest ladies of 2005 from the Ladies Home Journal.
Kathy also receives a large bunch of red roses from Renée Zellweger. Kathy spends days trying to figure out what the meaning is behind them.
After doing a great job working the red carpet for E! at the Grammys, she gets a gig doing the red carpet for the Oscars. She spends the days before the Oscars picking out her dress, going over all her material and going to New York to do a show at the Laugh Factory.
After being late to the Grammys she is worried about making it to the Oscars at time. However that idea threatens to blow up in her face when she realizes that she has lost her credentials which are required for her entrance to the red carpet.
As the title would suggest we are treated to a sneak peak of the shows second season, with clips and outtakes of this seasons episodes. Kathy narrarates the clips of the second season, clips that are as funny as the rest of the season promises to be.
Kathy Griffin addresses her breakup with husband Matt, goes on a "Red State" stand-up tour and auctions off a weekend stay for one at her house for charity. She also finds time to appear on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" and "The Tyra Banks Show."
The winner of Kathy's auction finally arrives for a weekend stay at her home, but he's not quite as flamboyant as she had hoped. Regardless, Kathy shows him a grand old time - Hollywood style. Meanwhile, she attempts to lose 10 pounds and later prepares for a trip to Iraq to entertain the troops.
With fellow comic Michael McDonald and actress Karri Turner in tow, Kathy departs for Iraq to perform for the troops. While Michael ends up wowing the audience of soldiers---Kathy does not, at least at first. Also: Kathy discovers that military-issue food might be good for her figure.
Kathy's last days performing for the troops in Iraq turn perilously dramatic when two rockets are fired at the base. Back at home, Kathy cares for her niece and nephew, who get to meet "Laguna Beach" star Talan Torriero. Meanwhile, a "dog whisperer" tries to tame Pom-Pom; and a cranky Kathy copes with her diet.
Kathy tries to tame her ill-behaved puppy Pom-Pom before they both take to the catwalk in a dog-and-owner fashion show for charity called Paws for Style. Also: Kathy redesigns a suite in a sleek San Francisco hotel, teaches a class for aspiring comedians and works a private corporate event.
Kathy and her assistant, Jessica, journey to Las Vegas, where Kathy gets up bright and early to host a buffet event. Later, she chills out by getting ice-skating tips from Olympian Johnny Weir, and also finds time to hobnob with the guys from "Queer Eye." In addition, Kathy makes an appearance on the TV show "Last Comic Standing".
Kathy's third season opener finds her reflecting on the happenings in her personal life, including her recent divorce. She also prepares for an A-list gig at Carnegie Hall and performs in a corporate film. She hires a tour manager-housemate-company whipping boy named Tom along with an assistant for his assistant, named Jessica. Appearing on the show includes Whoopie Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, Kellie Pickler and Joan Rivers.
Kathy plunges into the dating pool, but she will only settle for a guy who can give her one thing...publicity. She ends up dating Nick Carter of The Backstreet Boys, but his publicist tries to keep their rendezvous out of the spotlight. Meanwhile, Kathy tries to sell tickets to her shows in Michigan.
As Kathy prepares to ship out on Rosie O'Donnell's lesbian cruise, she works to modify her comedy act in an effort to connect with a lesbian audience with help from Jackie Warner, of “Work Out” fame. But complications arise when Kathy is hit with terrible news.
In the wake of a tragic family loss, Kathy ponders her legacy and sets out to resolve her relationship issues. Meanwhile, she hopes to sell wares on a home-shopping network, journeys to a hometown Chicago performance and reconnects with a high-school flame.
Kathy gears up to host a gay adult-video awards gala. She also prepares to perform her comedy act in front of prisoners at a state penitentiary in Arizona.
Kathy and her posse journey to jolly old England for some D-list (mis)adventure and to promote the UK run of “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.”
In the third-season finale, Kathy scores an award from Irish America magazine. The recognition inspires Kathy to connect with her Irish roots, so she journeys with her posse to Dublin, where she offers a sweet gesture in memory of her father.
