In the opener, Gary and Val move into their new house that Miss Ellie bought for them in Knots Landing and proceed to get acquainted with everyone. Meanwhile, Sid's 18-year-old rebellious daughter, Annie, from a previous marriage, is visiting the Fairgates and is causing nothing but trouble.
J.R. Ewing is in town planning an offshore drilling project on the beach, which everyone is opposed to, except for Richard. J.R. has an afternoon rendezvous with Karen. To get back at his brother, Gary goes to J.R.'s office to steal a very important file.
Richard is opposed to Diana's favorite teacher because of his unorthodox teaching methods. Meanwhile Karen decides to go to the school to find out more about the situtation, but ends up falling for him.
Laura is meets an a conniving artist who only wants one thing from her. Meanwhile, Val tries to help her out.
Lilimae Clements, Valene's mother, turns up in Knots Landing to visit her daughter and together the two have to face their pasts.
Lucy comes to visit Knots Landing to see her parents and wants to stay, but things do not go as planned.
A motorcycle gang causes trouble for the cul-de-sac when Diana gets kidnapped by the group.
Karen finally meets Sid's ex-wife, Susan, when she comes to see Sid about a legal matter regarding their daughter. Meanwhile, Eric develops a crush on Ginger Ward.
While Kenny is on a business trip, Ginger is frightened by the many anonymous gifts she has been receiving. Meanwhile, Val decides to get her GED but has trouble asking others to help her study.
Karen learns that she's pregnant but isn't sure she wants to have the baby and Sid can't understand her mixed feelings. Meanwhile, Eric likes Ginger's 14 year old sister who has come to visit.
Richard lands in some serious financial trouble, so Laura tells him that she wants to get a job to assist with the debt, but Richard won't let her.
Gary takes to drinking and begins spiralling out of control. Meanwhile, Ginger suspects Kenny of having an affair with Sylvie, the singer he is managing.
Gary and Richard both get drunk together, but Gary ends up hurting Val in more ways than one. Meanwhile, Ginger is still suspicious of Sylvie and confronts Kenny about the situation.
Sid picks up a young hitchhiker, who later accuses him of raping her. Diana has trouble being around people. Sid's sister, Abby Cunningham, arrives in Knots Landing with her two children
Sid decides to fire Richard which causes Richard to get drunk and cause a scene right in the middle of the cul-de-sac. Karen becomes enraged when she finds out that Richard was going to pay off the hitchhiker, so she would drop the charges. Eventually, Karen remembers a vital clue that might prove Richard's innocence. Meanwhile, Abby decides that she will move to Knots Landing.
Gary meets a woman, Judy Trent, who says she needs his help in getting her husband some support from A.A.. Abby ends up showing off her manipulative nature by taking advantage of Eric and even tries to seduce Kenny. Karen finds out about it and decides it is time to confront her.
Gary, against Sid's wishes, decides to make a deal with Orchid Cab Company and decides to hire a female mechanic named Linda Stryker. Laura begins work at her new real estate job. Val decides to start college after all. Richard is convinced that a prestigious Chicago law firm will hire him, so he tells off his boss and quits his job. However, he soon regrets it after he finds out what his salary will be at the Chicago job.
Kristin Shepard is in Los Angeles following the shooting of J.R. There, she's arrested for drugs and calls Gary and Valene for help. Valene heads to the police station to get her release and Kristin cons him into letting her stay with him. However, when Gary begins to see through her act, Kristin leaves Knots Landing. Meanwhile, Ginger divorces Kenny.
While Diana deals with the pressure she feels to sleep with her boyfriend, she, Karen, Val and Ginger perform at an ERA benefit. Meanwhile, with Laura busy at work, Richard spends time with Abby.
The neighborhood has a barbecue for Laura to celebrate her new found success in real estate. There, Laura overhears Richard and Abby making plans for later. Meanwhile, Ginger learns she is pregnant, which leads her to break up with Carl.
Michael is diagnosed with ADHD; Abby is hired at Knots Landing Motors by Sid; and when Gary is threatened by Frank and Roy, Abby suggests that he turn to J.R. for help.
J.R. Ewing arrives in town for an oil convention, but Gary refuses to ask him for the money he needs. To help Gary, Abby goes to J.R. to ask for the money, and ends up sleeping with him. Meanwhile, Val warns Gary not to make any deals with J.R., leading to an angry confrontation between Val and J.R.
Linda asks Sid to go away with her for the weekend, but Sid declines without understanding that she was making a romantic advance on him. Meanwhile, Richard rejects Laura's romantic advances and Judy reveals her affair with Gary to Val.
Jeff Cunningham gets mad at Abby for having an affair with Richard and files for custody of their children. Abby sleeps with Jeff in order to try to get him to drop the case, but Jeff refuses to do so.
Richard lands a job at Kippler, Janson and Stern and later apologizes to Laura for how he has treated her recently. Ginger tells Kenny she's pregnant, but does not allow him to move back home.
Kenny visits Ginger at school and begs her to get back together with him, but Ginger continues to deny his advances. At a check-up, Val's doctor finds a growth in her colon and informs her that they will need to operate.
The guys take Kenny out to celebrate while the women throw Ginger a baby shower. During the shower, three men break into the house, and Diana manages to escape and call the police while the others are held hostage.
Jeff picks the kids up, but Abby things that they were kidnapped. Ginger's sister Cindy arrives in town and gives Eric marijuana to hold for her, which gets Eric in trouble with Sid.
Abby cracks on to Gary but then declares she was only messing around when she sees how uncomfortable he is. Everyone belies that Laura's having an affair with Scooter. Richard wants Laura to sort out their problems. Earl wants Val to sleep with him to get even with Gary and Judy.
J.R. Ewing returns to town and wants to start a corporation with Sid and patent the engine that Sid invented. Sid refuses his offer and Abby ends up stealing the engine plans and gives them to J.R. J.R. and Abby end up sleeping together. Sid refuses to believe Karen whe she tells him that his sister stole the plans. When Jeff comes to pick up the kids, and packs all of their things into his van, Karen and Val are suspicious.
Abby's really concerned when Jeff doesn't return with the kids. Gary is questioned by the FBI about Frank and Roy. Gary and Sid end up agreeing to do a sting operation for the FBI. One of the mechanics at KLMotors lets the brake fluid out of Sid's car. Abby is furious after receiving a tape from Jeff. Sid and an FBI agent get in his car to drive home after Karen calls him to tell him he needs to come home. The car is involved in an accident.
The car with Sid and the FBI agent in it ends up going over the side of the cliff. Sid is left paralyzed and slips into a coma and Karen keeps a constant vigil at his bedside. Richard offer Karen his support and offers to help her with insurance. Gary hopes that Karen can forgive him but she replies she can't deal with him and wants him to leave. Sid wakes up from the coma he is in.
Sid will be permanently paralyzed unless they operate but there is a chance that the operation could kill him. Karen doesn't want him to get the operation but Sid forces her to sign the consent form. Before the operation takes place Si tells his family just how much he loves them a he records a message for Karen. Karen and Gary make up as they wait for news of how the surgery has gone. Everyone is shock when Sid fails to make it and Karen listens to the tape that Sid left her.
The Fairgate family are in turmoil following Sid's death. Michael is terrified that hos mother will die next and ends up constantly checking up on her. Eric becomes very upset when Karen sells Sid's car. Diana's upset that her mother wont open up about her feelings. Karen ends up firing Abby and goes off at Gary and ends up starts slapping and hitting him. After Val confronts her, Karen opens up to how she is feeling. Ginger has a baby girl and names her Erin Molly. Karen goes to see them and as she holds the baby, she ends up breaking down.
Abby is attempting to find her children and she answers the phone when it rings and it's Olivia, but the line goes dead. Val and Gary see a news report about Lilimae helping to stop a thief in action. Val invites her to stay at the house after learning that she is homeless. Lilimae ends up being arrested for shoplifting but the judge says he'll only give her six months probation if Val and Gary agree to let her stay with them long term..
Richard is instructed by his boss procure some prostitutes for clients which he does. After Val receives a postcard from Olivia in the post, a detective is able to find the missing kids. Jeff tells Abby that he won't be honoring the Californian custody laws. Abby ends up making Jeff fall back in love with her. On the day the are due to remarry, Jeff and his mother wait at the Court House for Abby to show up but a deputy shows up instead and serves Jeff a restraining order so he can't see his children.
Teddy Becker an old boyfriend of Karen's pays a visit. Teddy believes that Diana is his daughter but Karen insists that Sid is her father. After Diana finds out what is going on, Karen shows her proof that Sid was her father. Richard gives Laura a new car for her Christmas but Scooter then shows up with a brand new Mercedes for her. Val becomes upset after she remembers former Christmas. Val ends up being able to reconnect with her mother.
Richard and Laura make plans a romantic getaway but Richard ends up being forced to cancel when his boss asks him to throw a client party with prostitutes. Laura ends up going to Santa Barbara with Scooter after she thinks that Richard is having an affair. Laura and Scooter end up sharing a kiss. Laura refuses to believe Richard when he tells her what is going on. Karen ends up giving Abby her old job back.
Ginger and Kenny end up arguing over what is best for the baby. Karen attends to a grief group, and makes friends with Bill Medford. When Bill attempts to kiss Karen she says she isn't ready. Diana ends up going to a party with Roy, a biker who Karen hates when she thinks her mother is fating again so soon after Sid's death. Roy and Diana end up being arrested after Roy drives after drinking. After arguing Diana and Karen make up.
After Lilimae meets Jackson Mobley he promises her that he will make her a star. He ends up stealing $200 from Kenny and Ginger and then asks Lilimae to become his wife. They travel to Las Vegas but after he discovers that she isn't rich he admits he was trying to con her. Val and Gary travel to Las Vegas to stop the wedding and are relieved to discover the marriage never took place. After Richard takes his frustrations out on Laura, she ends up running to Scooter's, only to find out that he is getting back together with his wife.
Laura takes her friends with her to check out an estate that is up for sale. The estate is supposed to be haunted by the three sisters who lived there. The women end up having to spend the night there after Karen's car won't start. The ghosts of the sisters want Val to join them and become their new mother, and they attempt to convince her to jump off the roof. Lilimae ends up being able to talk her daughter out of her trance and talk her down.
Gary and Abby end up deciding to invest in a Mexican company making methanol cars and he ends up remortgaging the house without telling Val first. Gary and Abby end up sharing a kiss in Mexico but later he becomes furious with her when she wants to cut Pete out of their deal. Val's upset that Gary didn't ask her about mortgaging the house or tell her that Abby was going to Mexico with him.
Karen goes out on a date with Charles Linden but they end up not getting along. Ginger is encouraged to pursue a singing career but Kenny thinks she should be at home looking after their daughter.
Victoria Hill, Karen's former college roommate, is in town and she is now a fashion designer. She works with Karen on a benefit fashion show. Victoria offers Karen a job in New York which she thinks about. Karen ends up deciding to stay in Knots Landing. Gary is fed up with Abby trying to manipulate him. Laura informs Scooter that she's leaving Richard and they finally end up sleeping together. Laura later learns that she is expecting a baby.
Karen's brother, Joe Cooper moves in with the family after getting a job locally. Rusty, an old boyfriend of Val's shows up in town and ends up abandoning his daughter Cricket with her and Gary. Cricket lies, steals and accidentally ends up hurting Olivia. Gary is able to track down Rusty and Val confronts him, and he decides to come back for his daughter.
Val writes a journal assignment about the Ewing family for her class. Lilimae ends up reading it and then gives it to Abby who shows it to Joe. Joe ends up sending it to a publisher. Richard learns from Laura that she is pregnant, but is going to have an abortion and leave him because she doesn't love him anymore. Richard tries to convince Laura that he can change but she still ends up leaving him.
Gary learns from Abby that they need $20,000 to keep their Methanol business going. After Abby meets a man called Larry and she becomes becomes jealous when he is more interested in Karen.
Joe's girlfriend Lorraine pays a visit but they end up realizing that they want different things and things don't work out between them. Abby, Gary and Val go to Sacramento to see Senator Riker, because if a bill doesn't pass to make Methanol legal, they will loose everything they have been working for. After sleeping with Abby he decides to push the bill through. Karen isn't ready when Larry wants her to go away for the weekend with him. Joe is able to convince his sister that she needs to move forward with her life.
After a publisher wants to publish Val's book Gary isn't happy about his family's secrets being exposed. Val ends up agreeing not to publish it if Gary will only see Abby at KLMotors during normal working hours. After Abby manipulates Gary into seeing her out of office hours, Val ends up signing the book deal. Richard ends up loosing his job.
Kenny and Ginger go to San Francisco when she gets the chance to sing in a club there. Laura refuses to get back together with Richard.Richard ends up pulling a gun on Gary after he attempts to break up their fight. Laura ends up being forced to play along when Richard's mental state gets worse. A swat team end up surrounding the house and Richard eventually lets Laura go. Richard is taken to a psychiatric hospital for observation.
Karen and Laura go tot see Richard at the hospital where his condition is improving. Val takes Olivia out after her plans for a romantic evening with Gary are ruined. Gary and Abby end up sleeping together and Gary feels consumed with guilt. Lilliame is not happy when she works out that Gary has slept with Abby.
Kenny suggests Joe take Ginger when he needs a dinner date for a faculty dinner. Richard is ready to be released and tells his wife that he'd like to be part of the baby's birth. Gary and Abby continue to see one another but his guilt ends up making him finish things. Val becomes extremely suspicious when Gary keeps watching Abby out of the window. Val asks Gary if they're having an affair and he ends up locking himself into the bathroom. Val ends up confronting Abby and when Gary later sees Abby he kisses her.
Richard attempts to get his job back and Laura receives a call asking her to come get him. Laura ends up deciding to move back in after finding a note Richard has written in the rubbish. Val's publisher changes the name of her book to "Capricorn Crude". Gary refuses to attend the publishing party for the book. Karen and Lilimae see Abby and Gary coming out of an apartment together. Lilliame attempts to blackmail Gary into going to the party. Karen is follows by Val when she leaves the party and finds Abby and Gary together in the apartment. Val returns home followed by Gary and packs her things and drives off. Gary runs after the car.
Karen learns that the case against Frank and Roy has been dropped because a technicality. An angry Karen ends up barging into Marion Patrick McKenzie's office. After giving her information on the case, Mac kisses Karen. Gary is fired by Karen and she employs Wayne, unaware that he has a scrapbook about Sid's death. Val decides to stay with Rusty and Cricket on their ranch. Gary tries to win Val back after showing up at the ranch. Gary ends up getting beaten up by Rusty and Abby is upset that Gary went to see Val. After returning home, Val throws Gary out. Gary returns to Abby who has been sending JR chapters from Val's book.
Mac learns from Joe that his sister is using the court transcripts to try and go after Frank and Roy herself. JR has one of his companies buy Val's publishing company so that the book wont be published. Abby wants to know the contents of Jock's will before she will give JR the rest of the chapters of the book. Laura goes into labor. Laura ends up giving birth in the car after Richard runs it off the road. Richard is able to save the baby's life after it stops breathing.
Gary continues to try and win Val back but Val refuses to speak to him. Karen tells Mac that she believes that Wayne caused Sid's death and she wants to set a trap for him. Angelo is excluded by Wayne and Marshall from their parts deal. Richard decides to open a restaurant. Gary is entranced by a singer called Ciji. Kenny is really impressed after Gary takes him to hear her sing and he wants to do a demo with her. Ginger ends up feeling jealous.
Karen finds checks to West Century Auto after going through the company books. Karen invests money in Richard's restaurant. Karen is secretly being followed. Kenny's boss refuses to allow him to make a demo with Ciji, so Kenny and Gary decide to make a demo using their own money. Chip Roberts is sent to drop off photos at Val's and he manages to charm both her and Lilimae.
Richard's new restaurant "Daniel" opens for business. Gary wants Val to go to Dallas with him for the reading of his father's will. Abby is not happy when she finds out that Gary asked Val to go with him. Ginger doesn't like the amount of attention Kenny us paying to Ciji while he ignores her career. Mac learns from Joe that whatever Karen is planning to do is going to happen tonight. Mac learns from Karen about her plan. Mac ends up helping Karen. Karen learns from Wayne that the plan was never to kill Sid but to scare him.
Abby flies to Dallas to surprise Gary after he goes to Dallas for the reading of his father's will. Abby runs into Val who is at the same hotel for a book signing. Gary isn't happy that his father has left him his share of the money in a trust fund. Val learns that JR owns the company that is publishing her book. Chip ends up loosing his job. Lilliame ends up offering Chip a place to stay and he ends up making a move on Diana.
Abby is furious after Gary and Kenny decide to go into business together to produce a record for Ciji. Abby threatens to leave Gary if they don't have a partnership. Abby forces Richard sign a contract that she will be in control of Gary's investment in his restuarant. Val is upset that her invited Chip to live with them without asking her first. Chip meets Ciji and they're attracted to one another. Chip is given a car from KLMotors by Diane. Karen and Mack go camping for the weekend but they end up argung the whole time. Joe talks to his sister and makes her see that she really loves Mac.
Abby and Gary move into a beach house together. Abby wants Ciji to sing at the restaurant. Val talks to Karen about how Chip makes her uneasy. Chip insists to Ciji that Diana means nothing to Chip and Ciji begin an affair. Ciji is a big hit after performing at the restaurant.
Jeff Munson is invited by Abby to hear Ciji sing. Jeff who knows Val and asks her out in front of Gary. Laura's upset that Richard took money from Abby without telling her. Abby's jealous after Gary spends time with Ciji. Karen's upset after Diana catches Mac spending tme with another woman. Mac tells Karen that he loves her but Karen replies that she is not in love with him.
Abby learns from Jeff that he'd only work with Ciji if he produces her. Ginger is furious after Kenny gives Ciji a song to sing that she wrote. Diana needs a kidney transplant after collapsing. Michael and Eric tells Mac that Karen needs his support. When nobody in the close family is a match, Karen asks Abby to get herself tested to see if she is a match.
Laura and Ciji become friends when they spend some time together. Kenny finds out that Jeff is taking over their record label abut Gary says it not true. Abby ends up offering Diana one of her kidneys after talking to her. Chip ends up giving Diana the necklace he bought for Ciji's birthday and tells her he loves her. Karen kisses a sleeping Abby on the head.
Mack's father Pete pays a visit and informs him that he is going to die soon. Mack ends up reconnecting with his father after putting their past behind him. Chip wants Ciji to sign a contract giving him 25% of her earnings. Diana sees Chip kissing Ciji.
Abby gives Jeff Munson Ciji's contract. Kenny is furious when Abby cuts him out of the deal. Kenny and Gary end up fighting. Chip is offered a job with Thornwell and Associates if he can get them Val's account. Chop ends up stealing two chapters from Vale's new book and gives it to them. Chip learns from Ciji that she's pregnant and he ends up being furious. Val ends up signing her divorce papers after spending time with Jeff.
Kenny and Gary continue to be at odds. Kenny turns down a job offer from Jeff. Gary learns from Ginger that it was Abby who had Kenny cut out of the deal. Chip convinces Ciji to terminate the unborn child but after she spends time with Laura's kids, she has a change of heart. Chap denies stealing the chapters from the book when Val confronts him. Mac is helped by Val choose an engagement ring for Karen. Mac asks Karen to become his wife. Karen's old boyfriend Teddy Becker returns to town and Mac is jealous. Karen ends up realizing that her future is with Mac and agrees to marry him.
A chapter of Val's book ends up being printed by one of the tabloid newspapers. Val and Jeff end up blaming Chip, who feigns his innocence. Gary is furious after reading it and confronts Cal. Gary and Jeff end up fighting and Mack breaks it up. As Chip tells Lillimae that Gary is cheating with Ciji, which is untrue, Val over hears. Mack and Karen decide to elope.
Eric finds life hard after Mack moves in. Gary starts to drink after learning about the contract that Abby made with Richard. Abby learns about the rumors about Gary and Ciji from Diana. Val learns from Jeff that Thornwell leaked the story. Richard isn't happy about the amount of time his wife is spending with Ciji. After falling out with Abby, Gary shows up at Ciji's door drunk.
After Gary wakes up at Ciji's they talk. Ciji is warned by Abby to stay away from Gary. Ciji discovers that Chip's real name is Tony Fenice. Chip threatens Ciji. Val feels responsible for Gary hitting the bottle again. Abby attempts to gain control of Gary's assets.
Laura wants Richard to move out. Richard fights with Ciji after finding her at the house. Chip makes plans to move to New York and Diana wants to go with him. Karen is determined to make sure that her daughter doesn't go with Chip.A drunken Gary calls Val for help. Ciji is threatened by Abby again. Chip is warned by Ciji to stay away from her otherwise she will reveal to everyone his real identity. Val ends up clashing with Ciji and after they fight Ciji falls and hits her head. Ciji yells at Val to get out. Ciji's dead body washes ashore after she fails to show up at the restaurant to sing.
Ciji's dead body is discovered with Gary unconscious on the beach not far away. When Gary is quizzed by Abby he can't remember what happened. Chip informs Diana that he's going to New York alone and will send for her later. Janet Baines,a former girlfriend of Mac's, is put in charge of Ciji's case. Gary ends up talking to the police and is charged with Ciji's murder.
Richard is worried about hios wife and ends up opening up to her about his brother's death. Diana learns from Chip that he has decided not to go to New York because Val needs his support. Val and Jeff end up breaking up. Val learns from Karen that Ciji was killed by a blow to the head. Val ends up telling telling Janet that she killed Ciji.
Val ends up being booked and questioned about what happened. Gary ends up signing over power of attorney to Abby. Abby wants Mitch to get Val's confession dismissed. Val is taken to Ciji's apartment to recreate the fight. Lilimae tells Chip it was his leaking Val's story that started everything and she asks him to leave. Chip tries unsuccessfully to charm Lilimae. Val ends up getting released by the police. Richard decides to leave Laura and secretly liquidates his assets and takes care of some unfinished business before leaving.
After Laura discovers that Richard has gone, she tells the police and everyone else that Richard killed Ciji. Kenny is offered a job from Jeff and Ginger is offered a contract in Nashville, so the Wards decide to move. Chip and Diana decide to move to New York. Karen tells her daughter about the affair Chip was having with Ciji in an attempt to get her to stay. Mitch thinks if Gary would work with him he could get the charges dropped. Abby wants Mitch to have Gary sent to a sanitarium as a condition of release. After Mitch refuses to agree, Abby fires him and gets Westmont to represent Gary instead. Val goes to see Gary in jail and tries to convince him the best way to respect Ciji is to be stand up for himself so her real killer can be found. After a private investigator informs Lilimae that he is looking for Tony Fenice he shows her a flyer with Chip's picture on it. Lilimae shows the flyer to Karen. Karen discovers that her daughter has already left with Chip.
Karen is distraught that her daughter gone. Mack is certain that Chip killed Ciji and they put out an APB for them. Abby is furious that Mitch is still defending Gary. Janet ends up admitting that Gary was charged because of the way he worded his statement and that there are other suspects in the case. The charges against Gary end up being dropped and he is released. Abby isn't happy when she sees the looks exchanged between Gary and Val.
Val runs into Ben Gibson whilst running on the beach and he ends up admitting that he was hoping to run into her. After finding out he is a reporter, Val leaves as they enjoy dinner. A ranch is bought by Gary and he wants Abby to move in to it with him. Mack has the FBI help to find Diana and Chip. After seeing a news report about Chip, Dian becomes unnerved. An unhinged Chip ends up admitting to Diana that he killed Ciji.
Gary moves in to the ranch with Abby. Abby gets an office in town with an apartment. She and Westmont secretly set up a subsidiary of Gary's company. Laura is offered a position as his real estate investor and asks he her to keep a close eye on Abby. The police discover that Diana used her credit card in Oklahoma and Karen and Mack fly to the state. Diana assures Chip she loves him. After being seen by a state trooper, they head off down a dirt road and find an abandoned shack. They end up being surrounded by police and Chip pretends to hold Diana hostage. Chip ends up being arrested by the police following a shoot out. Karen tries to hug her daughter but she runs over to Chip and tells him him that she loves him. Diana reveals that she and Chip are married to a reporter.
Diana informs her mother that Chip killed Ciji for her. Diana tells her mother that she never wants to see her again and moves in with Gary and Abby. Abby ends up discovering that Gary will inherit 10% of Ewing Oil in just over two weeks and that his divorce is final in ten days which gives her just five days to marry him in order to get half of his inheritance. Gregory Sumner, a candidate for the U.S. Senate and old friend of Mack's, asks Mack to be part of his team. Val ends up agreeing to be friends with Ben after he explains that he wasn't after a story.
Gary and Abby attend Greg's fundraiser and Gary donates some money. Gary and Ben are introduced to each other. Mack is asked by Greg to be in charge of his crime commission. Karen and Eric pay Diana a visit at the ranch but things don't go well. Liliemae attempts to convince Chip and Diana to testify that he killed Ciji. Lilimea learns from Janet that Chip is going to be released as there is not enough evidence to hold him any longer. Chip ends up being hit by Lilimea with her car following his release.
Lilimae ends up being arrested. Gary turns down Gary's offer to pay Lilimea's bail and she pays it herself. Chip slips into a coma after having surgery. Diana blames her mother for everything that has happened. Gary wants to wait when Abby suggests that they get married. Val and Gary end up sleeping with one another.
Eric attempts to get through to Diana and she ends up deciding to testify. Laura warns Gary that if he has no plans to reunite with Val then he should just leave her alone. Gary ends up deciding to marry Abby and they get married straight away. Dr. Bovine suggests that Lilimae be put in a sanitarium. Val ends up calling Gary for support. Val finds out from Olivia that Gary and Abby are married and on their honeymoon. At the hotel, Gary orders room service. Gary is shocked when the waitress at the hotel he and Abby are staying at is a dead-ringer for the Ciji.
Ben is upset and leaves after Val tells him that she slept with Gary. Karen is given some pills from her doctor after she suffers with a bad back. Gary learns that the Ciji look-alike is called Cathy Geary and he ends up following her. Abby tells Westmont that she is going to develop Lotus Point and ends up buying the apartment's management, H & O Management so she can continue to send Karen checks and Karen will never know what is really going on. Westmont is got drunk by Laura so that she can find out what Abby is up to. Gary receives his inheritance. Chip wakes up from his coma after Diana gives a statement to the police. Chip ends up disappearing from the hospital.
Mack pays a visit to Tom Jessick, an attorney friend that he sent to jail and informs him that he wants him on the crime commission. Mary-Frances is furious with her father Greg for forgetting to pick her up. Mary-Frances is invited by Karen to stay with her and Mack. The police look for Chip. Cathy ends up being invited by Gary to come live and work at the ranch. Abby ends up sleeping with Greg when she needs his help. Laura tries to cut a deal with Abby. Ben and Val end up taking their relationship to the next level.
Gary ends up buying Cathy a dress like Ciji used to wear and wants her to get her cut like Ciji. Mary Francis walks in on her father and Abby together and is upset. Karen takes more pills.. Ben goes with Val to bring Lilimae home against Dr. Bovine's wishes. Diana goes to see Chip in the barn he is hiding out in at the barn.
Tom is quizzed by Mack as to whether a lawyer called Cavanaugh is the head of the Wolfbridge group. Mack wants Tom to work as insider. Cathy becomes upset after Gary asks her to sing for him and tells him that she isn't Ciji. Abby is given by Greg the coastal variance that she needs. Laura sees them sharing a kiss. Karen's mood swings worry Val and she continues to pop more pills. Diana is told by Chip that they need to leave the ranch. After seeing Cathy and thinking she is Ciji, Chip looses it and ends up falling on a pitch folk. As Cathy screams, Diana and the police rush into the barn where Chip is dead.
Tom informs Mac that Wolfbridge is bigger than he imagined and later calls Mac and informs him that he's leaving town as he is scared for his life. Chip's sister Angie shows up for Chip's funeral. Diana slaps her after Angie tells her that her brother was a looser who just used women. Val shares her concerns with Mac that Karen is taking too many pills. Karen is furious when she hears them talking.
When Jane Sumner shows up in town, Greg can't pay much attention to Abby. Mac wants Greg to help him find Tom Jessick. Greg is warned to get rid of Mac or they'll drop his campaign. Abby refuses to allow Cathy out of the deal she has made with her. Val and Mac are worried about Karen. Val finishes her book "Nashville Junction" about her mother's life. Ben wants more from Val who discovers that she is three months pregnant with Gary's baby.
Lilimae inadvertently tells Ben after Val tells her that she is pregnant. Ben is upset after Val confesses to him that it is Gary's baby she is carrying. Cathy and Gary kiss but Gary refuses to cheat on his wife. Mac tells Greg he has evidence on Wolfbridge. Mac's office and home end up being ransacked. Mark St. Claire pays Abby a visit and tells her that he represents Wolfbridge and they will be her partners in Lotus Point. After Abby tries to say no, Mark tells her that she has no choice. Karen's addiction continues to spiral out of control.
Karen is admitted to a hospital by Mack for a chemical dependency program. Karen refuses to admit that she a problem. Abby is furious at Greg for getting her involved with Mark St. Claire. Mark forces Greg to get rid of Mack. Mack quizzes Karen about Lotus Point. Jane and Mary-Frances apologize to the MacKenzies for Greg's actions and return to Sacramento. Greg ends up wining the primary race.
Gary discovers that that Cathy earns much more than the other ranch hands and that they are dated from before he ever met her. Gary hires a detective who informs him that Cathy spent the previous four years in prison. Ben and Mac discover that Apaloon owns all the property at Lotus point except for Abby and Karen's apartment. Greg and Laura end up sleeping together. Karen suffers with withdrawal symthoms. Ben thinks that Val needs to be honest and tell everyone that the baby she is expecting is Gary's and that that he wants his freedom.
Gary the reason Cathy was in prison and asks Abby about it. Abby tries to force Cathy into leaving. After Cathy tries to blackmail her back, Abby calls Cathy's ex husband to let her know where she is. Greg sleeps with Laura again after breaking a date with Abby. Mac learns that he could be disbarred. Mac ends up getting beaten up. Ben tells Val he is taking a job in South America and Val tries to convince him not to leave. Michael, Eric and Gary try to convince Diana to make up with Karen. Diana finally makes up with her mother. Mac sends Eric drop off a bright orange mailer for Apaloon at the mail service and is surprised to see Laura pick it up.
After showing up at the ranch, Ray attempts to sweet talk Cathy. After sleeping with Ray, Cathy decides to leave with him. Cathy says goodbye to Gary but Ray decides he wants her to stay and get a piece of Gary's fortune. Cathy ends up opening up to Gary about her past. Ben asks Val to go to El Salvador with him but says she can't as she is pregnant. After following Laura, Mack demands to know about Apollune. Mack learns that it is Mark St. Claire's company. Laura ends up being threatened by Mark. Laura tells Mack that if he helps her she will tell him everything that she knows. Mack learns that Apollune belongs to Abby.
Ben asks Val to marry him and says he'll raise the baby as his own. Val agrees to become his wife. Cathy admits to Gary that Abby hired her to divert him from her business dealings. Laura fills the MacKenzies in about Apaloon and Mark St. Claire. After being confronted by Mack, Abby denies everything. Greg holds a press conference saying Abby got the variance and he re-instates Mack. Gary tells Abby that he wants her out of his life and when she goes to see Greg she finds him in bed with Laura. Gary refuses to have anything more to do with Abby.
Gary ends up freezing the assets of Gary Ewing Enterprises and seals the office. After Abby attempts to throw Cathy off the ranch, Gary tells her that she can stay as long as she likes. Abby tells Gary that she doesn't want a divorce. Gary and Cathy take their relationship to the next level.
Val is upset when Ben leaves for El Salvador without her and she discovers that she is expecting twins. Val learns that Ben is missing. Cathy gives Ray $5,000 to leave but he refuses. Gary beats him up after he attacks Cathy. Mac pretends that he's no longer going after Wolfbridge but tells Abby he'll grant her immunity if she'll help him bring him down. Mac informs Tom that Abby believed that he needed her help and has already probably told Wolfbridge.
Greg attempts to get Gary to agree to unfreeze his assets. Gary tells Mack about Greg's visit. Ray watches Gary and Cathy. Val wants to go to El Salvador to look for Ben but Karen says she will be putting her babies at risk. Val's upset and calls Gary. Mac calls Karen and tells her that Gary has been murdered as Val pulls up at the ranch.
Val looses it after learning that Gary has been murdered and Abby is in a state of shock. Cathy decides to leave the ranch and Laura offers her a place to stay. Abby learns that she is a suspect in Gary's murder and is questioned about Wolfbridge. Ben is revealed as being alive but is badly injured and delirious. Abby tells Val that she is Gary's widow at his funeral and not Val. Laura admits to Val the real reason why Gary married Abby. Cathy is is called to the station as the funeral gets underway where she discovers that Gary is really alive.
When Ben returns home, Val cries with joy. Ray is revealed as the person who was actually shot by the hit man. Laura shares her suspicions that Gary is really still alive after hearing Cathy talking on the phone to Ray's mother. Abby is told by Greg to sell Lotus Point to Wolfbridge but she refuses. Greg tells St. Claire that he is through dealing with him and calls Abby to tell her that Gary is't really dead. Abby tells Karen that Gary is still alive and Mack is using him to get to Wolfbridge. Karen tells Mack they are through and gives him back her wedding ring.
Val learns that Gary is still alive and that she will be receiving a call from Mark St. Claire but if she tells anyone about the conversation then Gary will be killed. Ben ends up admitting to Val that he wished Gary really was dead and Val breaks up with him. Gary is kept hidden away at the Bel Mar motel and Mack brings Abby to see him. Gary is still furious with her and doesn't like Mac's plan as it depends on Abby. Greg ends up holding a press conference and says that he found out Wolfbridge is a criminal organization,. Mack tells Abby what he needs her to do. St. Claire discovers that Abby is wearing a wire. Val receives a call from St Claire. St. Claire also calls Karen and informs her that he has planted a bomb in Mac's jeep. Abby works out what St. Claire is planning. Karen ends up getting shot in the hotel lobby instead of Gary. St. Claire with Abby in his car with Gary running after the car. Mack holds his wife as they wait for an ambulance to show up.
The police tail St. Claire's limousine but it manages to get away. St. Claire holds Abby on a yacht. St. Claire calls Laura wanting some answers and she informs both Greg and Mac that he called. After returning to town, Cathy goes to stay with Laura again. Val admits to Ben that she still loves Gary. Karen is forced to under go surgery. Karen learns that she wont survive very long as one fragment of the bullet is lodged in her spine that he can't remove it.
Karen learns that she will die within the year unless she has a risky operation with only a 50% survival rate. Karen lies to Mack and tells him that she no longer loves him. Mac goes to stay with Ben. Diana moves to New York. Joshua Rush shows up at Val's and she finds out that he is a relative. St. Claire threatens Greg and he shows up at the yacht. Abby sees a gun in a drawer which she manages to give to Greg. St. Claire is shot by Greg.
Abby backs up Greg story when he tells the police that he shot St. Claire because he had a gun and was about to shoot Abby. Greg wants Abby to make a public statement on his behalf. Gary ends up buying the cable station that Ben works at. After reuniting with Abby, Gary tells her that he is going to run the business fairly. Abby learns that he has had Lotus Point redesigned to fit into the environment and that Karen will be an equal partner. Cathy learns from Gary that he is still in love with Abby but he hopes that they can remain friends. Val works out that Lilimae is Joshua's mother and she Lilimea ends up admitting the truth to Val.
Abby holds a press conference for Greg. Greg informs her after that they will never work together again. A furious Abby asks a reporter at the cable station to find out the medical history of Greg's opponent, Bob Caufield. He ends up discovering that Caufield spent time in a psychiatric hospital. Abby runs the story and Ben is furious. Cathy invites Joshua to come hear her sing. Joshua becomes upset after Lilimea admits to Joshua that she is really his mother. Val talks to him about how Lilimae abandoned her too and to give her another chance. Joshua ends up deciding to stay.
Gary offers Karen some advise. Scott Easton is hired by Abby. Greg informs Abby that he knows that one of her employee's broke into Caufield's medical files. Lotus Point has it's grand opening. Mack and Karen start to reconnect. Greg hold a press conference and states that Caulfield's medical history doesn't matter. Abby finds out that Val is really expecting Gary's baby.
Val asks Mack to be her birthing coach but Gary wishes that she had asked him. Val and Gary attempt to get Karen and Mack back together. Joshua gets a job at the television station. Cathy enjoys a romantic dinner with Joshua. Ben gives Mack a tape about Gary Loader who spent time in prison with Tom Jezik. Greg wins the election to become Senator. Jane decides to divorce Greg.
Mac is given divorce papers. Mack discovers that Gary Loader has been killed. Val and Gary feel responsible for the end of Karen and Mack's marriage. Abby and Scott watch them talking. Joshua's father, Jonathan, comes to town wanting Joshua to return home with him. Joshua tells Cathy how confused he is and they end up making love. Joshua feels bad after. Joshua ends up turning to Reverend Kathryn for advice. Joshua decides to stay in Knots Landing. Scott Easton has lunch with Mitch Ackerman who later turns out to be Val's new her obstetrician. Ackerman calls Easton and tells him that he gave Val the pills and that it will be a few days at the most.
Karen and Mac talk but she doesn't tell him that she doesn't have long to live. Abby receives a call from Scott who tells her that he has negotiated Lotus Point's water rights with Paul Galveston. Dr. Ackerman urges Val to take more pills. Val ends up going into labor. Michael and Eric end up taking Val to the hospital. Abby is furious when Gary goes to the hospital. Ackerman tells Val he's going to put her under anesthesia. Val gives birth and sees her babies and hears them cry. After Val wakes up, Ackerman tells her that the babies were stillborn. When Val insists that they are alive, Ackerman tells her that the sedative is playing tricks with her mind. Abby receives a telephone call from a man who tells her he will need the blood type of the babies' father and that he will contact her again soon.
Nobody believes Val when she insists that her babies are still alive. Gary tells Lilimae that he hoped the babies were his. Abby receives another mysterious phone call. Abby is unable to get hold of Scott. Mack moves back in with Karen. Karen's hands go numb and she asks Gary to get Val. Mack apologizes to everyone for hurting them over Thanksgiving dinner. Val and Gary walk in to the MacKenzie's and Val says sorry to everyone for her and Gary being late as usual.
Abby continues to try and find Scott. Abby goes to see Dr. Ackerman to find out where Val's babies now are. Ackerman informs her that her she is sick. Cathy and Joshua end up making love again. Tom Jessick informs Mac that Gary Loader was a policeman who was framed. Mac sees that Karen isn't using her right hand and she lies that it is sprained. After getting a second opinion, Karen learns that unless she has the operation she will die. Ben is concerned about Val's state of mind. Joshua finds Val having a conversation with herself. Val suffers with a nightmare. Val packs her stuff and calls a taxi after she hears Ben and Lilimea talking about getting help for her.
Karen attempts to find Val. Abby and Gary have lunch with Galveston. Galveston ends up asking Gary to go into business with him putting up communication satellites. A detective is hired by Abby to find Val and keep her up to date about what she is doing. Val checks into a motel in Enoch, Nevada. The following day she gets on a bus and tells a woman on it that her name is Verna Ellers, she has no family and is going home to Tennessee. The detective hired by Abby follows her.
It is revealed by Galverston that he is just using Gary. Whilst driving with her son, Karen looses control and nearly crashes her car. Mack insists that she sees a doctor. Karen ends up admitting the truth about her condition to Mack. Joshua is a success on his television show. Val rents a room and hears a report on the radio about her disappearance but is unresponsive to it.
Karen decides to have the operation. Abby wants a part of the Empire Valley deal but is told by Galveston to go home and raise a family. Galveston tells Greg that he is dying and it's time for him to forgive and forget. Laura learns from Greg that his divorce is final. Abby gets an update on Val. Parker and Val grow closer.
Karen's surgery is a success. Galveston informs Greg to stop Mack from investigating the Tidal Basin murders. Greg ends up though telling Mack to look for a connection between the murders and Galveston Industries. Abby learns from the detective that Val has become Verna Ellers from her book "Nashville Junction". He ends up telling Gary though that he has no leads. Galverston forces the detective to tell him where Val is. Galverston confronts with Abby with everything that he knows and threatens to tell Gary.
Lila Maxwell's roommate recognizes Scott Easton after Mac shows her a tape and continues that he worked for Galveston Industries. Karen ends up recognizing one of the men as John Woodside. Greg informs Laura that his father, Sumner, died as a pilot in the Korean war and that Galveston showed up at his house and he found out that his mother and Galveston had been having an affair for years. He then reveals that Galverston is his real father. Abby travels to Shula and asks Val if she intends to return home. Val doesn't recognize Abby and thinks she is mad. Parker overhears them talking and researches her in the library and learns that she is really Valene Ewing. Val ends up agreeing to marry Parker. Abby tells Gary that she has found Val after Gary tells her that Galverston has called telling him that he needs to tell him something. Gary makes his way to Tennessee.
Abby decides to increase Joshua's segment on the show. Abby attempts to blackmail Cathy into not seeing Joshua anymore. Mack is unable to get a Judge to grant him a warrant for Galveston Industries and Greg ends up getting Mack the warrant he needs. Gary goes to see Val who doesn't recognize him and thinks he is mad. Parker and his friends beat Gary up and he is told to get out of town. Val decides that she wants to get married to Parker straight away.
Joshua's ego increases. Joshua and Cathy end up breaking up. Abby is concerned that Mack will find out about her connection with Val's babies. Galveston males Jamison and Whiteside sign a confession for Lila Maxwell's murder. Gary continues to try and make Val see that she isn't Verna. Gary ends up interrupting Val and Parker's wedding.
Ben ends up with a flat tire on the way to Empire Valley. Ben is able to get a message to Mack that he believes that Empire Valley is a cover for something much bigger. Mack's men go to pick up Jamison and Woodside but they have vanished. Gary and Parker end up fighting. Val realizes that Parker has been lying to her. Val begins to remember her past but thinks that she and Gary are still married. Abby tells Gary that Ben needs to take care of Val. Gary ends up taking Val to the beach where he reveals to her that they are no longer married. Abby asks Galveston if Mack will find out the truth about the babies and her replies that he intends to tell Gary the truth. Galverston later catches Abby in his office and when he suffers with an attack she refuses to give him the pills he needs.
Joshua apologizes to Cathy for breaking up with her and tells her that he wants her back. Galveston's men contact Greg and want to transfer his power to him but Greg turns down the offer. Gary is told that Galveston is away on business when he tries to see him. Abby discovers Scott Easton's notebook with the pages concerning the truth about Val's babies missing. Val is upset when she hers her mother and Ben talking about having her committed. Ben is overjoyed when Val finally remembers their life together.
Gary wants to stop the construction on Empire Valley until he has spoken to Galveston. A mystery woman and Galveston are married as he is on life support. Ben learns that industrial chemicals from Galveston Industries got into the ground water and caused an epidemic and that Galveston bought everybody out and paid their medical bills. Mack manages to find Jamison, who informs him that Galveston ordered the murder of Lila. Val remembers giving birth and insists to Karen that her babies are still alive. Karen asks Mack to think about the possibility of the babies actually still being alive.
Reverend Kathryn begins to become annoyed with Josh's huge ego. Abby decides to fire Kathryn and give the show to Joshua who announces that Cathy will sing on his show, even though she doesn't want to. After talking to some people who were at the hospital the night Val gave birth she tells Gary that she thinks Val's babies could still be alive. Abby overhears their conversation. Galveston ends up passing away. The mystery woman shows up ans is revealed to be Greg's mother Ruth. Greg learns that Empire Valley is the cover for an international communications center.
Karen talks to Val's original obstetrician, who informs her that she and her partner were called away to a conference just before the babies were born and that tells her more about Dr. Ackerman. Cathy sings on Joshua's show and he ends up announcing on air that they are going to get married. Cathy is upset that Joshua didn't ask her first. Mac discovers an address in some of Galveston's papers. Bend and Mack go to the address where a woman lives with two small children. Whilst the woman's house they see a press conference being held by Greg on television where he announces that Galveston was his father and that he has passed away. He continues that he is resigning from the Senate and taking over his late father's company. Laura is upset that Greg didn't tell her any of this before making the announcement.
Joshua says sorry to Cathy and asks her to marry him again in private. After agreeing to become his wife, Abby decides to throw the couple a party to celebrate. Karen discovers the identity of the nurse on duty was the night Val gave birth. The nurse refuses to tell Karen anything when questioned. Karen informs Lilimae that the nurse is scared and she takes Lilimae to talk to her as well. Gary decides to go ahead with Empire Valley. Cathy is not happy when Joshua announces that she is going to give up her singing career at their engagement party. Abby is able to get the truth out of Coblentz.
Cathy doesn't show up for the wedding rehearsal after Joshua attempts to control everything. Ackerman receives a call from Nurse Wilson who warns him the mare sure that Karen stays away from her. Greg and Gary clash about the environmental concerns for Empire Valley. A lawyer calls Gary and says that Galveston left him all the land in Empire Valley.
Gary informs Abby that they now own all of Empire Valley. Coblentz doesn't want Gary as their new landlord. Coblentz implies to Gary that he is a government agent and that he needs his help. Ben's Wesphall story ends up being broken by Joshua on his show, and says that Ben is trying to make a conspiracy that isn't there. Joshua learns from Abby that he's loosing viewers. Joshua and Cathy are finally married.
Gary informs Greg that he will be part of Empire Valley. Mac tells Karen that he'll help her to get evidence after Ackerman refuses to speak to her. Eric is empliyed by his mother to be the Assistant General Manager at Lotus Point. Greg learns the truth from Abby about Scott Easton and the babiesand continues that she needs the missing notebook pages. The Fishers are watched by Greg from his car. Ruth tells her son that she prefers Abby over Laura.
Greg informs Abby that he will only give her pages from the notebook she wants if she gets Gary out of Empire Valley. Greg later tells Abby that he'll exchange them for her broadcasting license and the Empire Valley TV station. Jill Bennett shows up at Mack's office and informs him that the Governor would like to appoint him to Greg's empty senate seat. Mack thinks that Greg is behind the decision. Cathy isn't happy when Joshua wants them to live at Val's house instead of finding their own place. Val tells Ben that cant marry him until she has discovered the truth about what happened to her babies after he proposes. Ben learns about Karen and Mack's investigation to find out the truth after he thinks that Val is loosing her mind.
Ruth informs Abby that she will get her the missing notebook pages and not to sell her television station. Ruth also tels Abby that she is like the daughter she never had. Laura gets fed up with Ruth constantly belittling her. Laura is upset when she can't get Greg to tell her that he loves her. Ruth is told by Greg that she should return to Africa. Joshua tells Cathy they cant just abandon Val and move out. Ben gets a reporter to find out more about Ackerman. Ben is also given a list of unethical adoption agencies. Karen and Ben pretend to be a couple and visit one of the agencies who call Ackerman and tell him that Karen was there.
Ruth wants Abby's help in getting rid of Laura in return for the notebook pages. Abby makes it look like to Laura that she and Greg are having an affair. Abby and Ruth are pleased that their plan worked. Greg informs Coblentz that he wants Gary out of Empire Valley. With Karen, Mack and Ben are working on the case, Val ends up feeling neglected. Joshua ends up upsetting his sister with his comments. Nurse Wilson finally admits to Mack that Ackerman had something on her and blackmailed her into helping him. After being confronted by Mack and Karen, Ackerman ends up shooting himself in the head.
Laura refuses to answer Greg's telephone calls. Greg ends up following Laura and tells her that what she saw was set up by his mother. When Greg asks Laura to become his wife she tells him she is already married. Karen is asked questions by the police about Ackerman. Mack goes to Ackerman's office and finds Val's file but ends up being arrested after setting the security alarm off. After being released Mack finds a list in the file that has the name couples who illegally adopted babies but they have no addresses with the names. The name Harry Fisher ends up ringing a bell though. Gary learns from Karen that Val's babies are still alive. Mack ends up remembering that he and Ben were at the Fisher's house and they had twins. Mack wants Karen to meet him at the Fisher house and Gary goes with her. Harry Fisher rushes home and tell him wife to pack as they need to leave. Abby receives the notebook pages via messenger. Abby goes to Val and tells her that she received a strange phone call meant for her. She continues that the caller told her that the babies were alive and where to find them. Mac, Karen, Ben and Gary show up outside the Fisher house. Sheila Fisher learns that the babies were adopted illegally and taken from their mother. Abby shows up with Val. Val hears the baby cry and starts to walk up to the house. When Harry returns to the house he sees everyone out and then he hears his wife call out that they want to take the babies. Harry speeds off with one of the twins in his car.
Greg sets up a romantic surprise for Laura. Mac and Ben follow Harry but end up loosing him. Val tries to get into the Fisher house by pounding on the door. Mack ends up having people stationed outside the Fisher house. Ben waits with Val after she refuses to leave. When Harry returns home with a police escort, they tell Val that she has to leave. Val ends up loosing it. Karen takes Val to the hospital to get the birth records but they are told that there are no records of the twins. Gary learns from Abby that Bobby has died in Dallas.
Cathy informs Joshua that she's getting an apartment either with or without him. Cathy ends up being attacked by Joshua. Gary flies to Dallas for his brother's funeral. Val continues to wait outside the Fisher house. Harry is told by Ben that the twins might not be Val's, but they need to discover the truth. When Nurse Wilson shows up at the court room, Mac is able to get a court order barring the Fishers from leaving. Harry ends up agreeing to runaway when Sheila begins to loose it. Mack's men follow Sheila. Karen attempts to convince Harry to do the right thing. Karen and Harry end up showing up at Val's door with the twins. Harry makes a quiet exit after Val is reunited with her babies.
Abby learns from Greg that he's having problems with Elliot, the construction foreman. When Gary returns home he ends up breaking down over his brother's death. Ben to is promoted to General Manager at the television station and becomes Joshua's new boss. Val doesn't have much time for Ben now she has her babies back. Ben is upset when Gary shows up and Val asks him to stay. Val informs Gary that she is calling her son Bobby and Ben feels really hurt.
Jill Bennett is sent by the Governor to help him investigate adoptions. Jill and Mac flirt and they end up sharing a kiss. Greg feels jealous when he sees Laura with a co-worker. Joshua learns from Ben that his ratings are still dropping. Josh sorry to his wife and asks her to sing on his show again. Val asks Mac and Karen to be the godparent's to the twins. Joshua lies to Cathy that Lilimae's dying, so he can't move out. Val and the babies are followed by Shela. Harry's concerned about his wife's state of mind. Harry and Sheila end up going to see Val and tells her that they are moving but will always love the twins. Val allows them to say a sad goodbye.
An underground chamber communications center is built at Empire Valley by Greg. Joshua is warned that his show will be canceled unless he manages to turn things around. Joshua and Cathy argue after she refuses to perform on his show again. Cathy is seen sporting a big bruise and Val thinks that her brother is responsible for it. Greg decides to hire a new assistant. A man shows up and tells all the other applicants that the position has now been filled. His named turns out to be Peter Hollister and he tells Greg that he needs him to run his office properly.
Joshua is not happy that Cathy is receiving more fan mail than he is. Gary is not pleased that the television station ended up being built on the wrong site. Peter listens in on a conversation between Abby and Greg. Elliot is blackmailed by Abby to lie to Gary. Karen doesn't like Mac and Jill working together. After Jill tells Mac that she has decided to return to Sacramento, he tells that he'd like her to stay in Knots Landing.
Mac is surprised when Jill tells him that she loves him. As Abby tells Greg that Gary called the surveyor to come to town Peter listens in. Peter has a man call Gary posing as the surveyor and he manages to rectify the situation. Laura is offered a position overseeing the next phase at Lotus Point. Cathy has to perform on Joshua's show after he fails to show up. Joshua ends up making out with a waitress called Linda after seeing Cathy on the show. After Joshua attacks Cathy she turns to Ben for support. Val ends up telling Ben she is ready to marry him. Val agrees that Ben can be a father to the twins. Gary starts to suspect that he is the babies father.
Gary is certain that he is the father of the twins. Joshua attempts to break into Cathy's apartment and later trashes Val's house. Lilimae is upset after Val throws him out. Joshua and Ben fight after Joshua discovers that Ben has given his show to Cathy. Ben discovers that Joshua has lied about Lilimea dying. Abby attempts to get Gary to leave town with her for a few days when equipment for the new underground communications center is due. Ben isn't happy when he sees Gary talking to Val.
Ben and Val become husband and wife and go on their honeymoon. Abby informs Elliot that all the men need physicals on Monday for insurance purposes. Abby gets a call telling her that Elliot is dead, so she and Gary are forced to return home early from their trip. Both Abby and Greg think the other is responsible for Elliot's death. Cathy moves in with Laura after becoming scared of Joshua. Laura throws Joshua out after Jason lets him into the house. Joshua tells Lilimae about how Jonathan physically abused him. Joshua goes to stay with Linda and he tells that Cathy won't be a problem for much longer.
Gary learns from Elliot's widow that he was there because he was dissatisfied with how things were going at Empire Valley. Gary informs Mac what he has found out. Val and Lilimae are concerned about Joshua. Joshua ends up popping up from the backseat as Cathy is driving home. Joshua ends up forcing her to drive to the mission district where he takes her to the roof of a building. He informs her that he's going to throw her over and kill himself, so they'll always be for eternity. Liliame ends up finding Joshua with Cathy on the roof. Lilimea has a go at her son calling him a monster and that she is no longer his mother. Joshua ends up tripping and falls off the roof.
Cathy wants to be honest with the police about what happened but Lilimae ends up telling them that Joshua and Cathy were getting back together but he was dead when she showed up. Jonathan shows up in Knots Landing to conduct Joshua's funeral. The surveyor is confronted by Gary who informs him that Greg and Abby paid him off. Abby is confronted by Gary demanding the truth. Coblentz wants Gary having no part of Empire Valley and hires a hit man to kill Gary and Abby. Gary ends up discovering the underground chamber and discovers room that is filled with technical equipment and technicians.
Cathy moves into Ben's beach house. Lilimae blames Ben for son's death and she decides to move in with Cathy. Kenny, Linda's boyfriend, informs her that he was there when Joshua died. Greg is told by Gary that he will sell Empire Valley and to call off the hit man. Coblentz learns that that Gary will sell but Coblentz tells the hit man to kill him and Abby anyway. As the hit man is about to shoot Gary, Greg, Karen and Mack show up and warn Gary to watch out. Gary activates a remote control and Empire Valley is blown up.
Linda ends up talking to the police and informs them that she thinks her boyfriend Kenny killed Joshua. Lilimea wants to move back home but Val isn't sure. Greg holds a press conference stating that Gary blew up Empire Valley because of structural damages. Greg ends up vowing to create his own empire, and declares that he will not let nobody or anything stand in his way.
Laura is told by Peter that Greg needs her support so she ends up inviting him to dinner. Gary informs Val that he know the twins are his. Val tells Gary that he needs to respect the fact that the twins, Ben and her are now a family unit. Abby isn't happy when Gary ends up siding with Karen on a Lotus Point issue. Gary ends up sleeping with another woman. Jill informs Karen that the Governor wants her to be on the State Planning Commission and she ends up agreeing. Gary meets Jill for the first time. After Kenny is arrested for Joshua's murder, Cathy wants to tell the truth but Lilimea insists they need to keep quiet. Kenny ends up being charged with murder.
Abby wants the place on the planning commission instead of Karen and tells Greg. Abby attempts to talk to Gary but he says they are through and he asks Jill out for a drink. Val swears to Ben that she never told Gary that he is the father of the twins. Laura talks to Mac about getting a divorce from Richard. Mac learns the truth from a depressed Cathy about really happened when Joshua died. Val is able to get through to Lilimea that she needs to tell the police the truth.
Karen learns from Jill that someone spoke to the Governor on Abby's behalf. The Governor ends up choosing Abby over Karen. Peter goes to see his mother and they talk about how they'll have a lot of money very soon. Cathy and Lilimae are questioned by the police. Cathy becomes friends with a new saxophone player on her show called Sonny Harkins. Sonny secretly tapes their conversations.
The police end up deciding not to press charges against Lilimae and Cathy. A story about what happened is printed in a newspaper that Sonny works at. Peter and his mother discuss her relationship with Galveston, and it is revealed that Peter is Greg's half brother. Mac learns that Jill will be moving into the office next to his. Jill ends up giving Mac the key to her room at the Bryant Hotel. After driving to the hotel, Mac decides not to go inside. Olivia hears Greg threatening Abby to tell Gary that Abby knew all along that he was the father of the twins and that she knew they were alive. An upset Olivia ends up asking Karen and Mac if she can live with them. When Abby and Gary go to pick her up, she tells her mother that if she doesn't let her live there, she will tell Gary the truth about what she has found out.
Greg learns from Peter that he's his half brother and takes Sylvia to meet him. After Abby finds out the truth she asks Peter out for a drink. Gary decides to go into racing. After finding Jill's hotel room key in his pocket, Karen confronts Mac. Mac is not happy that Westfall file without permission. Sonny continues to try and get information out of Cathy.
The newspaper runs a story about how Joshua attempted to kill Cathy. Cathy learns from Ben that Sonny works for the tabloid. Ben attempts to comfort an upset Cathy. Sonny ends up being slapped by Cathy. Laura learns from Greg that Galveston kept a file on Sylvia, and sent her money each month. Greg wants Peter to help him recover Empire Valley and bring down Gary and Abby to prove his loyalty. Jill continues to investigate Wesphall. Karen is still angry with Mac.
Karen and Mac end up making up. Greg wants Peter to form a relationship with Abby. Peter tells his mother that Greg wants him to spy on Abby and that Abby wants him to spy on Greg. Gary and Jill end up sleeping together. It is revealed that there is a connection between Peter and Jill. Abby hires a detective to find out more about Jill. Olivia is discovered holding a joint by Michael but she says she's holding it for a friend. Val throws the twins' a birthday party. Gary ends up deeding the twins half of Empire Valley as a birthday present.
Val and Ben aren't able to do anything about the gift that Gary has given to the twins. A furious Ben confronts Gary. Both Greg and Abby are furious when they discover that Gary gave away Empire Valley. A woman calls Jill, Dottie Simpkins whilst she is with Mac and Jill tells the woman she must be mistaken. The woman says they went to Franklin High school together. Mac discovers that Franklin High is in Westfall. Olivia denies to Michael that she is taking drugs. Olivia ends up smoking pot in the bathroom when she goes out for dinner with her mother. A joint is discovered in Michael's car by the police after he drops Olivia off to school.
Michael ends up being booked by the police. Michael refuses to reveal who the joint belongs to. Michael is unable to get Olivia to admit that it is hers. Karen shares her suspicions with Abby that it belonged to Olivia. Gary crashes his race car and has to stay in hospital over night. Abby isn't happy to find Jill at the hospital. Abby wants Peter to keep Jill occupied. Mac and Jill check some water samples at Westfall. Mac Jill's picture with the name Dorothy Simpkins in a school year book. Greg instructs his attorney to make Peter an offer. Greg explains to Laura that he is testing Peter.
Abby forces Olivia to tell her the truth after finding a joint in her purse. Olivia is forced to join a support group by the judge. Peter is offered five million dollars by Greg to walk away. Peter doesn't accept, and tells his mother he believes it's a test. Mac learns from Jill that her father used to own Empire Valley, and Galveston swindled him out of it and her father ended up killing himself. Cathy tells Ben she has to decided to leave the show. Ben and Cathy end up sharing a kiss. Gary is told by Abby that he has failed Olivia, Lotus Point and her. Gary surprises Abby by telling her that he has decided to get a divorce.
Abby isn't happy with the idea of Gary divorcing her and tells him that if he doesn't give her the rest of Empire Valley, she will drag out the divorce, and involve Val and the twins. Gary ends up agreeing to give her Empire Valley. Sylvia is tricked by Abby into admitting to her that Peter is not really her son. Peter escorts Abby to a fundraiser. Jill and Gary are at the same fundraiser. So that she can no longer be blackmailed about knowing that the twins were alive all along, Abby admits the truth in front of everyone. Abby continues that she didn't say anything until she had actual proof and when she did she brought Val to them. Ben learns from Cathy that she has been offered a nationwide tour. Abby takes Olivia home. After Eric becomes ill he is taken into Intensive Care.
Greg asks Laura to become his wife. Peter is fired by Greg. Eric is ill with arsenic poisoning. Abby discovers that Galveston dumped acid and arsenic into Empire Valley. When Abby offers to sell Greg Empire Valley he is suspicious. Peter's furious with Sylvia for telling Abby everything and ends up threatening her. Peter is blackmailed by Abby. Jill ends up agreeing to work with Peter to get Empire Valley away from Abby. Jill later tells Peter she has changed her mind as she has fallen in love with Gary. Peter ends up reminding her that Galveston killed their parents and that they've come too far to stop now.
Ben's not happy with the thought of about Cathy leaving and ends up admitting to her that he isn't the twins' father. Things end up heating up between the two of them. Val is worried that she is loosing Ben. Jill explains to Gary that she can't see him anymore because she's in love with him, but doesn't want to be. Peter apologizes to Sylvia for threatening her. Mac discovers that the reservoir at Lotus Point is full of arsenic. Abby ends up revealing that Galveston dumped arsenic at Empire Valley. Nobody can agree on who should be responsible for the clean up operation.
Greg and Laura end up getting married in Las Vegas after he takes her there. Karen and Abby ask Laura after she and Greg return home if there's anything she can do to get Greg to help with the cleanup of Lotus Point and she replies that a wife should have some influence over her husband. Abby is surprised that by the news that Laura and Greg are married. Greg tells Karen he will agree to clean up Empire Valley in 4 months if she will get him all of Empire Valley back otherwise she can say goodbye to Lotus Point. Eric is released from the hospital. Jill tells Peter that she still wants no part of his plan so she can be honest with Gary. Ben and Cathy end up sleeping together. Ben feels guilty.
Abby urges Karen to agree to Greg's deal. Gary and Karen attempt to think of a way to clean up Empire Valley themselves. Gary learns from Abby that Jill's family used to own Empire Valley, and that she's only with Gary because she wants Empire Valley back. After Gary confronts her Jill admits the truth but insists she changed her mind about everything after she fell in love with him. Greg thinks that Peter should run to try and become the new Senator. Karen decides to close Lotus Point. Val wants to sort out the problems she and Ben are having. Ben is asked by Cathy to leave with her and become her manager.
Gary ends up offering to take back Empire Valley from the twins and agrees to sell it to Greg if he will guarantee the cleanup takes place. Greg tells Laura the reasons why he wants Peter to run for Senate. Greg tells Peter that is he agrees to run he will then publicly acknowledge him as his brother. Sylvia's monthly check is stopped by Greg. Abby sleeps with Peter after telling him to agree to the deal that Greg is offering. Mac is worried what has happened to Karen after she misses their lunch date and he can not find her. Ben ends up agreeing to go on tour with Cathy. Val tries to talk Ben out from leaving. Ben promises Val he will be back in six weeks. Paige Matheson shows up at the MacKenzie house and tells Mac that she is his daughter.
Paige explains to Mac that she came looking for him because her mother has died. Paige turns down his offer of a place to stay. Jill and Gary make up. An upset Val ends up trashing Ben's beach house after seeing a picture of Cathy there. Lillimae ends up calling Gary for help Gary discovers Val sitting on the beach. Ben ends up telling Cathy that he can't go with her on tour. Mac has an APB put out to help find Karen. Karen wakes up and discovers that she is locked in a basement.
Phil Harbert, who has hold of Karen, brings her to a room in his home. It is full of food and new clothes for Karen and he tells her that he wants her to feel comfortable. The clean up of Empire Valley is used by Greg as good publicity for Peter. Greg informs Peter that he won't really clean it up until Lotus Point goes completely out of business. Peter ends up telling Jill, who later informs Gary. Val is happy after Ben returns home. Ben receives a note from an old friend called Jean Hackney to come and meet with her. Jean wants him to spy on Greg and she kisses him. Mac is upset that he never go the chance to say goodbye to Anne, Paige's mother.
Karen is forced by Phil cut her hair because he likes short hair more. Ben refuses to spy on Greg for Jean. The arsenic levels at Lotus Point continue to grow. Gary decides to run for the senate against Peter. Jill ends up agreeing to become Gary's campaign manager which infuriates Peter. Val comforts Mac who is upset by Karen's disappearance.
When Jean telephones Ben at home he tells her never to call him there again. Ben turns to Val for some advise. Abby shows up at a speech that Gary gives and informs Jill that she will be with Gary all of the time. Abby ends up giving Peter copies of Gary's speeches and schedule. Phil tells Karen that he will be keeping captive for a year after opening up to her. Greg decides to really clean up Empire Valley. Phil is revealed as being an old friend of Greg's after he pays him a visit.
A flashback scene is shown featuring Phil and Mack. The polls begin to shift in Gary's favor. Peter decides to use Gary's affair with Jill against him. Mack has a fake report about the kidnapper released. Greg ends up working out that Phil is the kidnapper. Greg ends up confronting him and gives him one day to sort things out. Phil pours gasoline all over the house and strikes a match. Karen discovers a trap door in the attic as the house burns.
The truth about Gary and Jill's affair is in the newspapers. A furious Abby' confronts Peter. Gary and Jill decide to resume their affair. After having Phil's license plate traced to an address in Dillon, CA, Greg makes his way there. Ben keeps hanging up the phone on Jean. Karen manages to escape from the burning house. Phil attempts to run Karen down. Phil follows Karen to an empty house in the woods. When Greg shows up he tells Phil he will let him go if he never shows his face again. Mack and Karen are reunited.
Abby and children end up moving back to the ranch to improve Gary's family image. After Gary finds Abby and Peter in bed together he does not care. Olivia is suspended from school after she is caught smoking pot and she ends up stealing her mother's car. She ends up being arrested for not having a license after the car is involved in an accident. Gary ends up missing a debate after going to pick her up. Karen learns about Paige from Mack and she invites her to dinner. After some roses show up from Phil for Karen, Greg decides to talk to the police. Phil attempts to blackmail Greg.
Mack believes that Greg has something to do with Karen's kidnapping. Greg agrees to help Phil flee the country. A pizza delivery boy recognizes Phil and calls Mack. Michael feels uncomfortable when he is attracted to Paige but they end up sharing a kiss. Val invites Jean over to dinner after Jean introduces herself to her as an old friend of Ben's. Ben finds Bobby with Jean after loosing him whilst out shopping. A scared Ben goes along with her and supports Peter on television. Peter ends up winning the election.
Phil ends up being hit by a car after the police show up. Mack knows that Phil is lying after he telling him at the hospital that Greg is responsible for kidnapping his wife. Phil ends up dying. Peter isn't happy with Sylvia drinking as she says too much after having a drink. Sylvia wants money to keep quiet. Lotus Point re-opens. Peter ends up giving Sylvia to many pills.
Peter continues give Sylvia more pills. Eric finds Michael and Paige in bed together and they end up fighting. After Paige is unable to pay her hotel bill she moves in with the Mackenzies. Ben tells Val he doesn't like Jean and that she shouldn't be friends with her.
Jean scratches Greg's car so that she can meet him. She later makes a play for him. Paige pawns some jewelry to raise some money. After Peter can't find Sylvia, he calls Jill over. Peter tells Jill about the pills. Ben is suspicious after seeing Jill at Sylvia's place. Sylvia shows up to see Abby and talks to her about Peter. After Gary and Abby sleep together, he tells her that sex isn't enough anymore. Gary issues Jill with an ultimatum after she refuses to tell him what her connection with Peter is. After arguing with Peter, Jill slips off the side of a cliff.
Abby ends up telling Sylvia that she should have an attorney draw up a letter with the truth about Peter, to be released to the public if anything happens to her. Karen sees Michael and Paige cuddled up asleep and tells Mack that they're sleeping together. Ben and Mac attempt to work out what the connection is between Peter, Jill, Abby and Sylvia.Peter calls for help after his sister falls over the cliff. Gary says sorry to Jill for the ultimatum he gave her. Peter tells Mac and Ben he used to date Jill, but now they're now just friends. Gary informs Abby that he is in love with Jill. Jill's condition worsens and Gary and Abby hear a doctor saying that Jill is pregnant.
Paige and Michael are confronted separately by Mac and Karen. Paige agrees to end things but Michael says they are in love. Peter learns from Sylvia about the letter she gave to her attorney. Jean tells Ben if he manages to bury Peter in the press she will stay out of his life. Greg thinks someone is trying to ruin Peter's career. Jill ends up losing the baby. When Jill wakes up, Gary is furious when she requests to see Peter instead of him.
Abby takes Sylvia to stay with the Sumners. Jill tells Peter that their relationship is over after informing him that she will cover for him. Michael is rejected by Paige and he takes it out on his mother. Peter asks Paige out on a date and cancels seeing Abby to meet here. Jean gives Ben cash for his help. Lilimae discovers it while doing laundry and shows the money to Val. Ben lies about where the money came from. Ben's strange behavior concerns Val. Ben is offered a job by Greg. After Jean threatens his family, Ben ends up taking the job. Karen discovers a letter that Anne wrote to Mac about Paige's birth but she thinks Paige wrote it. A gravestone is shown in a cemetery that says the words "Paige Matheson, 1967-1985."
Abby receives Ben's resignation from the television station. Ben is told by Greg his job is to keep Peter's nose clean. Michael feels jealous after he sees Paige with Peter at the Lotus Point Christmas Party. He blames hos mother for him and Paige not being together. Abby shows up at Peter's place naked under a Fur Coat. A message is left for Paige's grandparents, the Winstons by Karen. Paige is furious after she finds out. Mr. Winston calls Karen and informs her that Paige is dead. Greg is not pleased when Laura tells him she is going to have a baby. Olivia buys some drugs. Abby and Gary give her a sports car for Christmas. After Olivia takes Lilimae for a ride, they are involved in an accident.
After Gary goes to Jill's place to pick up some of her some clothes, he discovers a yearbook where her name is Dorothy Simpkins and pictures of Peter. After Jill asks Gary to marry her he tells her that they need to get to know one another better first. Lilimae gives Abby some cocaine she discovered in Olivia's car. Abby looks through her daughter's room as Olivia snorts coke in the barn. Abby follows her daughter and witnesses her buying drugs. Abby finds the drugs in her daughter's bag. Greg wants Laura to get rid of the baby. Mac and Karen learn from Paige that she faked her death to get away from her grandparents. Mac is surprised after he learns that Anne is still alive.
Mr. Winston flies to Knots Landing and ends up confirming that Paige is his granddaughter. Paige is upset at seeing him. Mac is convinced by his wife to fly to New York and tell Anne that their daughter is still alive. Jill ends up admitting to Gary that Peter is really her brother. Gary ends up prosing to Jill. Olivia gives her mother baking soda instead of the rest of her drugs. Gary invites her to AA meeting but Olivia refuses to go. Abby learns that her daughter has been skipping classes. Olivia is hit by her drugs dealer after she uses the drugs she agreed to sell for him. Abby puts her daughter under house arrest.
Mac travels to New York to speak to Anne. Olivia manages to sneak out into the barn and takes more drugs. After Olivia locks herself in the bathroom, Abby breaks down the door as Olivia attempts to flush the drugs she has left down the toilet. When Olivia steals money from her mothers purse they end up fighting. Olivia gives her brother an envelope and tells him it's her homework to give to her friends. Lilimea friends money in the envelope and brings it back to Abby. Brian ends up getting beaten up and Olivia forces her daughter to look at what her drug problem has caused. Olivia ends up giving her mother the rest of the drugs she has.
Paige informs Karen that she should worry about Anne's intentions with Mac. Paige leaves to go stay with Peter. Anne tells Mac that he's the only man she ever loved and explains that she didn't tell him she was pregnant, because she found out her father paid him $5,000 to leave her. Mac denies being paid off. Olivia attends an AA meeting with Gary and apologizes to her brother. Gary is determined to proceed with his and Abby's divorce. Ben is forced by Jean to bug Greg's office. Jean later wants Ben to hack into Greg's computer.
After seeing the way that Anne acts, Karen feels sorry for her daughter and wants her to come live with her and Mac again. Anne wants Paige to return to New York with her and threatens to cut her off financially. Paige ends up moving back in with Karen and Mac after Peter tells her its bad for his image to be living with somebody. Anne ends up deciding to stay in Knots Landing until her daughter agrees to return to New York with her. Greg finds the hidden bug in his office. Abby wants $3 million dollars from Gary. Ben is told by Jean that he has to eliminate Greg.
Paige gets a job at Lotus Point. Karen is asked by Anne to arrange for her to live at Lotus Point. Laura moves back to the cul-de-sac after her and Greg remain at odds about the baby. A nightclub is opened at Lotus Point by Abby. After Ben refuses to kill Greg, Jean tells him that she'll kill his family. After somebody attempts to run Val off the road, Ben tells her that he was part of a group in the past that bombed a building and an innocent man was killed. Ben and Val decide to go on the run after Ben tells her he has been told he has to kill Greg. Val won't tell her mother what is going on. Ben steals a car after he is followed.
The Gibson's work out that their house is bugged after Jean catches up with them. Ben is told by Jean to kill Greg at the Lotus Point Club Opening. Greg and Laura make up. Anne hangs around Mac at the party. Ben tells his wife that they'll escape in a catering truck after the party. Jean continues to threaten Ben. Gary and Jill inform Val that they're getting married and Val runs off upset. Ben confronts Greg in his office and points a gun at him. He asks Greg to help him find a way out of this because if he doesn't kill him, his family will be killed. Jean listens in and a shot is heard to be fired.
Val and the children are brought back home safely in a catering van. Val is worried about what has happened to Ben. Bodyguards posing as construction workers are employed by Mac to look out for Val and he instructs her to say that Ben is away on a business trip. Lilimae quizzes Karen. Karen asks both Mac and Val what is going on but they tell her nothing. Greg's death is reported in the newspaper. Abby goes to see Peter. Gary postpones his and Jill's marriage. Val goes to the ranch to comfort Laura and is surprised to see Greg alive.
Jean is told by her superior that she needs to kill Greg. Mac, Greg and an agent discover that Jean and her associate are trying to kill him. Jean's superior is punched by Mac and is arrested. Jean invites Greg to her hotel room where Greg tells her that he knows what she's up to and points a gun at her. Jean is arrested arrested. Mac explains to Karen that he couldn't tell Val that Ben was alive as she would of given the game away. An upset Val looses control and is later happy to be reunited with Ben. Abby tries to offer Jill some advise.
Ben is not happy with the fact that Greg has had Jean sent to Paraguay instead of pressing charges against her. Ben ends up loosing his job. Jill quizzes Gary. Both Abby and Paige vie for Peter's attention. Anne rents Laura's house and Karen isn't happy. Anne sends herself a package but has is sent to the MacKenzie house. Anne attempts to get closer to Mac.
Laura falls out with Val. Ben wants the family to go into hiding but Val insists that is no life for the twins. Ben looses control. Olivia is appointed by Peter as his new youth adviser. Anne and Mac talk about old times and she ends up admitting that she is still in love with him. Karen and Mac argue about Anne and she wants him to tell Anne to leave. After Mac tells Anne she will never leave Karen for her, Anne asks him to meet her for a goodbye breakfast. Anne ends up overdosing on some pills after Mac fails to show up.
Anne is taken to the hospital where the doctor says she will be fine. Paige tells the McKenzies that it's only a stunt but Mac thinks that it is a cry for help. Karen isn't happy when Mac is nice to Anne. After Sylvia is revealed as being dead, Peter comes on to Olivia. After Olivia leaves many messages for Peter, Peter and Paige make fun of them. Olivia is told by Michael that Paige is dating Peter but she refuses to believe it. Gary and Jill decide to go away on a trip but they meet Peter at the airport picking up Sylvia's body. Val and Lilimae are worried about the way Ben is acting.
Peter attempts to get Sylvia's letter from Olivia and Abby is furious when she sees them sharing a kiss. Greg tells Abby that Peter is only after the letter that Olivia has. Olivia ends up sending the letter to Gary after finding Peter with Paige. Ben freaks out after thinking that Val is Jean. Mac hears Anne telling Karen on the phone that he is only with her out of pity. After Mac upsets her, Anne blurts out that Greg is really Paige's father.
Laura gives birth to a baby girl. Anne decides to return to New York. Mac questions Greg if there is a chance he could be Paige's father. Greg insists that he and Anne have never had sex. Jill intercepts Olivia's letter for Peter and ends up burning it. Abby wants Peter to dump Paige after he tells her that he would rather be with her. Abby later tells Peter that she wants nothing more to do with him after he dumps Paige. Mac and Karen tell Paige that Greg could be her father. Ben makes plans to leave the country and tells his wife that he got a job in South America.
Laura decides to name her baby after her mother. After Val calls Ben's news service, she learns that he's not on an assignment for them. After Olivia confronts Paige, she learns about her mother and Peter's involvement. Olivia and Abby clash. Peter thanks Jill for getting rid of the letter and she then throws him out. Peter is confronted by both Abby and Paige. At Lotus Point, Abby hears her daughter scream and she comes out of the Ladies room after drying her hands. Abby discovers Olivia standing over Peter's dead body and thinks her daughter has killed him. Olivia thinks her mother killed Peter.
Val tells her mother that she knows Ben went after Jean and that he wont be coming back. Paige learns from Mac that he has spoken to Anne who has now admitted that he really is her father. Abby decides to have Peter's body buried under the new children's playground at Lotus Point. Karen points out to Abby that that there is a structural crack in the cement at the playground and it will need to be dug up and relayed.
Nobody has heard from Peter for over five weeks. Val misses Ben but makes up with Laura. Abby's really worried about her daughter who has been suffering having nightmares. Greg kisses Paige to proe to her that there is no chance that he is her father. The crack at the playground gets worse. Peter's body is discovered after it is dug up.
Greg learns from his wife that Richard has remarried and she's going to take the boys to go see him. Jill talks to Gary about memories she has of Peter growing up. Olivia's locket is found on Peter's body by the police but they don't know who "OC" is. The police learn about Abby's fight with Peter at Lotus Point. Abby tells her daughter she has to go to Peter's funeral otherwise it will look suspicious. When Gary tells Abby he thinks Olivia killed Peter and that she is covering for her, Abby slaps him.
Al Baker begins to hang around Mac's office and Peggy thinks he could be homeless. Mac ends up agreeing to allow Al sleep in his office. After Peggy shows up with dinner, she discovers the office filled with homeless people. Paige begins to suffer with nightmares. Instead of talking to Mac and Detective Garcia, a scared Olivia goes to see Val instead. Olivia finally talks to Garcia. After Olivia ends up of being accused of killing Peter, Abby says she killed him.
After Laura returns home, she informs Greg that she has left left the boys with Richard for a while. Jill and Gary clash over the murder investigation. Olivia tells Gary that Abby killed Peter because of her. Gary is relieved after realizing that Olivia didn't kill Peter. Gary tells Abby who then tries to talk to her daughter. Abby and Olivia discuss how they both thought the other killed Peter and they hug and make up. Abby and Olivia talk to the police. After Paige has more nightmares, Mac wants her to tell him everything that happened the last time she saw Peter.
Lilliemae is concerned that Val is not getting over Ben. Al is lives out of the back of his station wagon and brings it to the MacKenzie house to show Mac. Lilliemae is rude to Al. Val buys a new sports car and ends up admitting to Gary that he is the father of the twins. Jill moves out after telling Gary she is fed up with all of his ex wives being in their lives. Jill ends up moving back in after they make up. Paige end up admitting to Mac that Peter fell on a spindle as they argued. The police decide not to press any charges. Mac makes Paige say sorry to everyone she has hurt. Laura ends up quitting her job at Lotus Point and tells Greg that she is dying.
Laura is suffering with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. Laura goes shopping with Karen and buys dresses for Meg's future birthdays. Karen is upset after working out that Laura is dying. Mac and Karen are asked by Laura to be Meg's godparents. Greg is late to the Christening as he's outside in his car crying. Greg is upset when Laura wants to leave and die in a clinic alone. Laura leaves some video tapes in a hatbox. Laura takes a crying Meg to Greg. She sees Greg feed Meg and then drives away in her car crying.
After Michael saves a girl called Jody from drowning. Greg employs a nanny to help stressing it's only until Laura returns home. Lilliemae begins to warm to Al, who asks her out on a date. Abby tells Olivia about a man called Charles who was her first love as Olivia still misses Peter. Gary feels hurt after Val doesn't invite him to the twins' birthday party. Val doesn't want Gary involved in their lives. Val ends up having a change of heart and takes them to see Gary as Jill brings him lunch. Karen is surprised to see Charles, Abby's old friend at Lotus Point.
Eric returns to town with news that he has got married. Karen isn't impressed by his new wife Linda and she doesn't like Michael's new girlfriend Jody either. Val invites Gary to dinner and they end up sharing a kiss. Abby and Charles have lunch together and she asks him if leaving her was the worst mistake he made in his life. Flashback scenes are shown involving Abby and Charles. Karen shows Abby the Society Page which announces Charles' engagement to somebody else. Charles explains why he is getting married and asks Abby to be his mistress. An upset Abby is devastated.
Karen decides to lay on a party for Linda and Eric but she still can't warm towards Linda. Al asks Lilimae to marry him but she replies that she can't leave Val. Lilimae tends up agreeing to live with Al and they purchase a motor home and leave Knots Landing. Gary spends more time with Val and the babies. Abby makes Jill feel insecure. Abby is furious when Charles breaks a date with her. Greg is missing Laura and later gets a call from the clinic telling him that his wife has passed away.
Greg pretends he is fine as everyone gathers at the house. Richard shows up and saying it is telling how Laura chose to die alone. Val is not happy that Karen didn't tell her Laura was dying and later rejects Karen's attempts to talk to her.
Following Laura's funeral, everyone returns to Greg's house. Mac spends a lot of time with Meg and Karen hears him telling Gary that he's a father who never got to raise his children. Richard tells Karen how he has turned his life around. Jill is upset by the amount of time Gary is spending with Val. Jill gets drunk and later tells Val that she lost her family and wants to help with the twins. Jill confronts Paige about her brother's death. A video that Laura has left makes everyone cry. Val and Karen end up making up. Greg cries after watching the video Laura left him alone.
Greg employs Paige to purchase some investment art for him. Abby is told by Charles that getting married to Judith is a mistake he has had to live with for past 20 years. Charles and Abby end up making love. Gary and Val also make love. Val feels guilty and ends up later rejecting Gary. Gary ends up telling Jill that he is not on love with her. A furious Jill ends up confronting Val. Greg leaves Meg with Karen and Mac after he tells them that he he has business in New York he need to attend to.
Greg continues to grieve for Laura. Greg makes excuses to leave Meg with Karen and Mac for longer. Abby and Charles enjoy a romantic day out at an amusement park and horseback riding. Charles leaves after receiving a call from Judith but soon returns and tells Abby he can't leave her and make the same mistake twice. Johnny Rourke tells a woman on an airplane that he is flying to see his girlfriend Paige Matheson in Knots Landing. He ends up stealing the woman's credit cards and later gets his hands on a gun. Gary learns about Jill's visit from Val who thinks they should remain apart. The Williams family move into Laura's old house.
Johnny decides to try and blackmail Paige for helping her fake her death, but she informs him that everyone already everyone knows. Paige is not happy when Mac offers Johnny a place to stay. Meg becomes ill whilst Karen is out of town. Pat ends up coming to the rescue and informs the hospital what's wrong with her. Greg learns what has happened to his daughter from Paige and he and Mac stay at the hospital with Meg. After Karen rushes back to town, both Greg and the McKenzies realize what a bond Mac and Karen have now with Meg. Meg recovers. Judith shows up in town and Abby is upset that Charles does whatever she asks. Judith tells Abby that he will never leave her and Charles ends up leaving with her. Charles has a last minute change of mind and asks Abby to become his wife.
Karen and Mack miss Meg after Greg takes her back home. Greg later asks them to look after her again. Johnny is a able to con his way into staying at Lotus Point and he ends up spying on another guest. As Charles introduces Abby to his friends, Judith shows up. Judith learns that Charles has asked Abby to become his wife. Gary misses a party that Val has arranged to celebrate his birthday after Jill makes plans as well.
Judith and Charles decide not to divorce until an important merger goes through. Abby ends up turning to Greg for help to mess it up. Judith secretly records Abby and informs Charles that Abby used inside information. Michael is able to avoid Jody's advances and he ends up telling her he doesn't love her and she becomes very upset. Karen and Mack invite the Williams family over for dinner and Frank acts very oddly. Mack believes Frank is a cop. After Jill draws up a document for Jill to sign naming Gary as the twins' official father she is not happy.When Gary shows up to see the children, Val doesn't want him coming around anymore.
Johnny delivers some packages for the business man who offered him a job and a woman sees them. Michael refuses to get back together with Jody and when he sees a woman jump off a cliff to her death at the beach, he thinks might be Jody. Greg asks Paige to introduce him to a woman he likes the look of at the opening of a galley. Paige becomes jealous and ends up drinking too much. After she goes to see Johnny they end up sleeping together. Frank is paranoid and Pat is worried that his actions will just end up drawing more attention to the family. Karen has to give a deposition in the twins' custody case. After Val asks Karen to lie for her she isn't sure what to do.
Paige continues to sleep with Johnny whilst being jealous of Greg spending time with the other woman. Mack and Karen remain suspicious of the Williams' and speculate that Frank and Pat don't have custody of Julie. Karen and Mack ends up telling the truth in their depositions and are able to convince Val to tell the truth that Gary just wants visitation and not full custody. Charles thinks that Abby should try and expand the marina at Lotus Point and loans her the money to do it. After Charles gives her plans he had drawn up, Abby discovers that they were created before he reentered her life. She decides to employ a private detective to investigate him. Abby wants to get married straight away now that Charles's divorce has come through.
After Pat returns home from testifying. Frank is upset because if Pat hadn't agreed to testify, they wouldn't be stuck in the Witness Protection Program and they would still be living their old lives. Mack and Karen wonder when Greg will ever pick up Meg. Val informs Gary that he won't get custody of the twins. Abby informs Charles that Lotus Point can't afford to expand the marina. Charles gives Abby $2 million as a wedding gift so the plan can go ahead. Abby and Charles become husband and wife in Lake Tahoe. Abby has her attorney annul the marriage the next day and tells Charles she knows he only wanted Lotus Point and not her. Charles admits that was true at first but then he fell in love with her. Charles is unable to get the money he gave Abby back before leaving town.
Paige cools things between her and Johnny. Abby loans Lotus Point the money it needs to go ahead with the marina plans. Olivia's upset that Abby and Charles have split up. After Greg finally takes Meg home, Karen and Mack are upset and miss her. After Greg realizes just how difficult it will be to bring Meg up on his own he asks Mack and Karen to become her parents. He wants them to tell his daughter about Laura as she grows up but says he will stay out of their life. Val ends up having a change of heart and signs the paper saying Gary is the twins' father.
Olivia goes out on a date with Harold Dyer and his uncle Manny informs him that Olivia is Abby's daughter. Olivia invites both Harold and Manny to meet her mother. Manny informs Abby he rents yachts and she ends up introducing him to Karen, hoping to get his business for Lotus Point. Karen begins to believe that Paige has a crush on Greg. Mack and Jill have to prosecute an old woman for forgery. When Jill dresses up in lingerie and cooks a romantic dinner for Gary, he ends up coming home with Val and the twins. Jill starts to drink when she later finds a note from Gary telling her that he is spending time with the children.
Paige begins to work for Greg exclusively but when he doesn't pick up on the fact that she would like to date him she becomes very frustrated. Johnny and Harold are given a diamond bracelet from a man who can't pay the money that he owes them. Harold still ends up beating the man up. Harold ends up giving the bracelet to Olivia, saying it belonged to his grandmother. Gary invites the twins to spend the night and Jill is forced to stay in the guestroom. Jill continues to drink as she feels excluded. It is revealed that Pat is a doctor and she is testifying against another doctor. As Pat testifies she is attacked. Karen and Mack see the attack on the news and after she returns home they work out Pat is a doctor. Val receives a letter in the post from Ben.
Val is looking forward to Ben's return. Paige ends up informing Greg about the way she feels and he thinks she must be joking. Manny flirts with Karen and Abby thinks she should go with it to get a better deal from Manny. Mac isn't jealous until he sees what Manny looks like. Harold and Olivia tell one another that they are in love but he says they can't sleep together until they're married. Abby is furious after Harold proposes to Olivia. She tells Manny she'll back out of the deal if he doesn't keep Harold away from her daughter. Abby turns to Gary for help with Olivia and a drunken Jill is not happy. Paige ends up agreeing to go to Mexico with Johnny. Harold and Olivia decide to go along as well and make plans to elope. Jill comes up with a deal for the old lady and ends up having the woman write another letter to Val from "Ben".
Jill is confronted by Gary about her her drinking. Karen is surprised after Manny attempts to kiss her. Paige meets Debbie, an archeology student, who tells them of a pre-Colombian dig after she arrives in Mexico. Greg ends up agreeing to finance the project. Paige is shocked after she discovers Johnny in bed with Debbie but they end up making up. Manny id determined to stop the wedding before it takes place. Harold blames his uncle after he cools things off with Olivia. After returning home an upset Olivia is comforted by her mother. Abby agrees to talk to Manny to see if he will agree to Harold and Olivia just dating. Olivia pays Harold a visit and is forced to hide after Manny shows up. Olivia ends up learning that her mother was behind her break up with Harold.
Gary witnesses Manny unloading a yacht in the middle of the night,. After telling Mack, he asks Frank to investigate. Jill says sorry to Gary, he agrees to give her another chance. Jill reedits an old news tape of Ben's and leaves message on Val's phone from him. Karen learns from Olivia that Abby broke her and Harold up. Olivia begins to give away her possessions and gives Manny a letter for Harold that says how much she loves him. Manny shows Abby the letter who thinks her daughter is about to commit suicide.
Johnny is instructed by Manny to make sure the archaeological dig doesn't stop the highway construction in Mexico. Paige wants the highway project halted to find more art. In an effort to stop it she buries one of Greg's pre-Colombian statues for the students to find. Johnny ends up setting the camp on fire. Karen is not happy that Mack is looking into Manny's past and thinks he is just jealous. Mack learns from Frank that the yachts are a front for bringing cocaine in from Mexico. Val repeatedly listens to the message that Ben left her. Jill steals some keys to Val's house and then replaces the tape with a blank one. Olivia is discovered at Harold's apartment after overdosing on pills. When Olivia wakes up at the hospital she doesn't want her mother anywhere around her.
Michael is invited by Paige to come to Mexico. Manny wants Johnny to send Paige back home as she is causing too many delays but she refuses to leave. The piece of art is declared a fake after being found. Manny instructs his men to kill everyone at the site and make it look like it was committed by some Mexican bandits. The police investigate Manny but halt the investigation and declare that Manny works for the government in covert operations. Olivia still refuses to talk to Abby after being released from hospital. Jill continues to play mind games with Val and attempts to convince Gary that she is loosing her mind. After Jill learns that Val has been prescribed sleeping pills to help her sleep but wont take them she steals the prescription and gets it filled.
Mack isn't convinced that Manny really works for the government and ends up discovering that he is really a gun runner. After strange things happen in Mexico, the director closes down the site. Pat invites Val to watch some videos and says she'll send Julie over to baby-sit. Jill informs Gary that she is going to a conference in San Francisco. She ends up changing into a disguise and buys a car and hides a gun in it. Jill later introduces herself to lots of people on the plane as she flies to San Fransisco. She ends up seducing a man named David and then slips a pill into his drink. After he passes out in her room she calls Gary then tells the hotel receptionist to hold her calls until the following morning. Jill then flies back to Los Angeles where she wears another disguise. After showing up at Val's door she lets herself in.
Paige and Michael end up discovering that Johnny is really working for Manny and that Chavas is a DEA agent. The Federales stop a bus that they get on and take Paige, Michael and Chavas. Abby and Gary stop Manny from docking his boat. Karen receives a call from Manny who tells her that she'd better do something about it if she wants Paige and Michael again. Jill, in disguise, surprises Val. She informs Val that the letters and calls from Ben were a hoax, and she has a suicide note for her. After Julie and Frank show up at her door, Val says she has to stay home because Betsy's unwell. Frank tells his wife that something didn't seem right. Jill ends up forcing Val to take all of the sleeping pills and says if she doesn't, she will shoot her. After David wakes up in the morning, Jill comes out of the shower saying she had a great night with him. Val is revealed as being passed out on the floor.
Abby and Gary learn from Karen that Michael and Paige are being held hostage and they end up clearing the marina. Mack travels to Mexico where he ends up getting beaten up by Manny's men and tied up in a room with Chavas. Manny and Harold force Mack call Karen to let them unload the drugs with no interference from anyone. Mack thinks that Harold is just being used by Manny. Chavas manages to free himself and a fight breaks out and he ends up being shot. Harold ends up shooting Manny after he decides to shoot Mack. Frank discovers Val and she ends up being rushed to the hospital. Jill receives a call from Gary who tells her what has happened and informs her that Val will be OK. Jill is upset and flies home and shows up at the hospital. Val is placed the psycho ward. Jill attempts to damage Val's IV tube, but her roommate stops her.
Johnny manages to rescue Paige and Michael and they end up being smuggled across the border in a truck with some illegal aliens. The truck ends up being hijacked. Mack and Harold attempt to find Paige and Michael. Greg meets with a publicist called Ted Melcher in an effort to regain some of his power. After Val wakes up nobody believes her that Jill tried to kill her. Val sends the children to stay with her mother to keep them away from Jill. Pat reminds Frank that he he thought something wasn't right the night he went to see Val.
Mack finally finds the hijacked truck and manages to help everyone escape. After returning home, Mack informs everyone that it wasn't for Harold everyone would now be dead. The police show up and state that they have discovered cocaine at Lotus point. Johnny drops his fake accent. Jill tells Gary that Val's actions are scaring her. Val becomes more unhinged.
The drugs find at Lotus Point ends up being reported in the media and guests begin to check out. Harold decides to turn over a new leaf. Ted thinks thatGreg should host an environmental fundraiser. Tyler Watson follows the William's family around. Val is relieved when she learns that Frank and Pat believe her. Frank has Pat take a look at Jill's bank account and they discover that she took out $800 a few days before her trip. Val doesn't want Gary coming to see her whilst he is still involved with Jill. Greg discovers Paige swimming nude in his pool after he hears a noise and she climbs out right in front of him.
Greg ends up sleeping with Paige. Abby offers Ted Melcher a job in an effort to try and change Lotus Point's bad image. Tyler attempts to blackmail the Williams family. Mack is able to get back the money that Pat gives to him and warns him to head back east or he will tell the police about his blackmail efforts.
Ted thinks that Greg should stop seeing Paige as she is a liability and everyone would think he's having a mid-life crisis . Mack manages to get hold of the Williams' dental records and then calls a reporter friend. A story is then reported in the newspaper that Federal Witness Dr. Sollars and her family have been killed in a car crash in Seattle. Karen and Gary take Val to see the hotel in San Francisco where Jill stayed at the time Val says she was at her house. Nobody at the hotel is able to say they saw Jill after 8PM. Val insists that Jill could have flown back to Knots Landing but Gary refuses to believe it. Jill is not happy when Gary tells her he went to the hotel with Val and informs him that nobody saw her after 8 because she was having a one night stand with a man in her hotel room.
Gary is furious with Jill after she informs him that her affair was with David Lamb. David denies the affair when Val questions him. Jill arranges to meet with David so that Gary can listen in as she proves the affair really happened. Val learns from Gary that the affair really happened. Harold gets a job at Lotus Point and Abby then plants cocaine in his locker. Harold in sists to Mack that he was set up after he is arrested. Greg makes a romantic dinner for Paige. Abby and Gary are able to get Karen to agree to sell Lotus Point. Abby finds out that there is oil on Lotus Point. A Japanese company called Morikame, which is really owned by Abby, buys the resort.
Val informs Jill that if anything happens to her, she will be the number one suspect. Gary tells Jill they are over but she can stay until she finds somewhere new to live. Jill ends up writing an engagement announcement for her and Gary. Ted makes a play for both Paige and Abby. Paige and Greg end up playing strip croquet. Paige's grandfather passes away. Paige and Greg profess their love for each other before Paige leaves town. Greg shows Abby a ring he has bought and she learns it it for her.
Harold and Olivia talk about marriage. Mack takes a leave of absence after feeling old. Karen ends up suggesting that goes camping in the mountains. Paige learns from her mother that her grandfather cut Paige. Greg informs Abby that their marriage will be a political one and she agrees to marry him. When Greg returns home he finds Paige asleep in his bed. After watching her for awhile he leaves.
After leaving, Jill returns and tells Gary that her new apartment isn't ready. Mac meets Forest Ranger Paula Vertosick whilst camping in the mountains. H ends up feeling flattered after she invites him to spend the night with her. Paige discovers the engagement ring and thinks it is for her. Paige is shocked after she finds out from Karen that Greg and Abby are getting married. Greg and Abby end up holding a press conference to announce their marriage and Greg's candidacy for mayor.
Olivia learns the truth that her mother planted the cocaine in Harold's locker. Olivia is able to blackmail her mother into dropping the charges against him. Harold and Johnny decide to get an apartment together. Gary becomes frustrated with Jill. Greg decides to move Paige to the corporate office. Ted is used by Paige to try and make Greg jealous. Paige attempts to convince Greg not to go ahed with the wedding butt he marries Abby anyway.
Val's aunt Ginny brings the twins back home to her and decides to stay. Mack opens his own practice and Peggy comes to work for him. Jill secretly watches Gary and ends up ordering invitations for her and Gary's wedding. Gary begins to suspect that Val was telling the truth about what happened.
A classmate that Michael likes called Elle takes a liking to Johnny instead. Jill purchases a wedding dress. After Gary is arrested for breaking into Jill's apartment, Jill tells the police to release him because he just can't accept their relationship is over. Mack manages to find the forger but she is now comatose and dying in a hospital. Mack and Gary pay David Lamb a visit who ends admitting that all he remembers is going to Jill's room and then waking up the following morning.
Greg is urged by his new wife to bring Meg back home to live. Mack refuses to entetain the idea. Jill takes a lie detector test and passes to prove she is telling the truth. Gary wants Jill to talk to his therapist. The doctor informs Gary that Jill is depressed over their breakup but there is nothing wrong with her. Gary wants Val and the twins to stay at the ranch but she refuses to allow Jill to rule her life. Michael and Ellen work on a computer program togther. Jill pays a visit to a Medical Supply Store where she rents a wheelchair. Jill cuts a strap on Gary's saddle at the ranch.
Greg is disgusted when Ted suggests using the custody battle for some publicity. Ted and Abby end up telling Greg's story to a reporter. Julie ends up falling off Gary's horse and breaks her arm. Gary learns that the saddle was tampered with and he confronts Jill. Jill ends up sneaking into Gary's house and waits for him in bed but is furious when he doesn't return home. Jill sees Gary's car outside of Val's house as he sleeps inside it. Pat witnesses Jill spying on Gary with binoculars after she goes to the ranch. Pat is shocked to learn that Jill cut the saddle.
Greg is furious when he reads the newspaper article about Meg. Greg ends up holding a press conference stating that he gave Meg to the McKenzies after Laura died, and it would be traumatic to take her from the only family she's ever known. Abby and Ted are furious after seeing the press conference. Jill continues to sneak into the ranch and Gary shows up at her office and warns her to stay out of his life. Gary ends up being served with a restraining order after Jill talks to the police. Jill runs into the twins at the library and a furious Val ends up trashing her office and threatens her. Gary goes to Jill's apartment to confront her and Val shows up to try and calm him down. The police end up stopping Gary's car and discover Jill is in the trunk bound, gagged and dead.
After Paige leaks a story that Greg is still after getting his daughter back, he ends up losing the election. Gary is arrested after being accused of killing Jill. Pat attempts to cheer Gary up after he is released on bail. Gary talks to Mack about what happened the last time he saw Jill.
The police believe that Val and Gary could have both been involved in Jill's death but they refuse to testify against one another. Mack learns from Frank that he confronted Jill before her death. Frank ends up talking to the police after being urged to. Ted wants Paige to help him split up Greg and Abby. Ted informs Greg that he wants Paige to work on a media project with him.
Abby needs file some environmental reports to be able to drill for oil at Lotus Point. Ted is asked by Abby to come and work for Morikame but not to tell Greg about it. Gary looks like he will be found guilty of killing Jill as the evidence mounts. After Bobby shows her some rope tricks, Karen realizes that Jill killed herself. After Mack and Karen are able to recreate how Jill could have killed herself and a fingerprint in Gary's trunk confirms their theory all the charges against Gary end up being dropped.
Abby and Karen both end up being appointed to an Environmental Board and they clash as to whether Morikame should be allowed to drill for oil. Paige ends up renting an executive apartment in the Sumner Group's name and wants Greg to see her in secret. Karen manages to embarrass herself at Mack's office. Michael feels jealous after he sees Ellen and Johnny together and he ends up talking over his women problems with a sympathetic park ranger, Paula. Olivia lies to her mother when she plans to plan some time with Harold. Harold doesn't want anything happening between himself and Olivia until they are married. Val and Gary go out.
Ellen believes that Michael's jealousy is is causing him to stop working on their computer program. Ellen ends up telling Johnny about the program. Paula is introduced by to Karen by Michael. Paula ends up agreeing to help Karen with some environmental reports and Karen invites her to diner. Paula feels uncomfortable after seeing Mack. Ginny attempts to convince Val to start dating again. Greg wants to meet with Morikame about obtains some oil permits, so Abby employs an actor to pretend to be Mr. Nogata. Abby gets stuck in a lift for a couple of hours after Paige removes a sign saying it is out of order. Greg later learns from Abby that he has managed to offend Nogata and that he has decided to pass on the deal.
Michael and Ellen decide to get get their computer program copyrighted but Johnny has already got one. Greg is interested in buying it after Johnny shows him it. Karen and Paula learn that Murikami is planning on drilling for oil in protected parts of Lotus Point. Abby manages to destroy all of the data that they have collected. Val starts to write again. Karen attempts to set Gary and Paula up but he's more interested in a woman who accidentally programmed his number into her phone. Paige finds out that Nagata is really an actor whom Ted hired. Ted attempts to blackmail her into not telling Greg.
Michael and Ellen are put on probation by their teacher after he tells them that their program is plagiarized from a program donated by Greg. Michael learns from Greg that he purchased it from Johnny. Michael learns from Paula that she is love with a married man but she doesn't reveal that it is actually Mack. The oil drillers have disappeared when Karen and Paula return to Lotus Point. Nogata attempts to blackmail Abby. Paige follows him and witnesses Ted giving him a briefcase of money. Later Paige sees on the news that Nagata has been killed. Ginny hires Danny Waleska to teach Va how to use a computer she has bought her. Danny and Val end up going out to lunch together.
Val and Danny enjoy a picnic on the beach together. Mac thinks about Paula. Greg gives Johnny $10,000 to leave town for good. Frank starts working for Mack full-time. Karen offers Paula a place to stay after the pipes in her apartment burst. Karen attempts to discover who owns Morikame. Paige discovers that Ted works for Morikame. Abby manages to get Paige fired. Greg refuses to talk to Paige.
Greg talks to the Secretary of State about getting the job in Japan. Mack, Karen and Paula decide to sue Morikame. Gary and Sally's friend end up agreeing to meet at a store. The twins run up to him who are out with Val and Danny and the woman disappears. Abby sleeps with Ted and then wants him to pretend to be Morikame's owner. In return she offers him half the oil profits. Ted agrees to the deal. Rick Hawkins is discovered dead in his apartment.
Abby informs the Secretary of State and that Greg's publicist owns Morikame and that he tried to drill for oil on protected land. Greg wants Abby to fire Ted. Ted informs Mack that Paige has lost her job and is Greg's mistress. Paige informs Carlos that she needs to talk to Greg and he hides her in the kitchen. When Paige finally gets to talk to Greg she informs him that Abby really owns Morikame and that Ted killed both Nagata and Rick. Greg refuses to believe Paige. Mack shows up and punches Greg. Mort discovers a letter that Rick wrote in the rubbish that also contains a key. Ted discovers that Abby knew she couldn't get the oil permits and that she has tricked him. Ted ends up admitting to Karen that Abby owns Morikame in an effort to get even with her. Olivia decides to throw her daughter a party to celebrate her 18th birthday and is shocked when she tells her that she and Harold got married earlier in the day. Karen shows up and informs Abby that she is going to have her arrested for fraud because she owns Morikame. Greg realizes what Paige told him was true.
Greg arranges for Paige to live in her apartment rent free without her knowledge. Abby holds a press conference where she declares that she bought Lotus Point in order to stop the oil drilling and that she is donating it to the government as a wildlife preserve. Abby takes away her daughter's car and credit cards after she moves in with Harold. Paige attempts to discover the location of the post office box that Rick's key is for. Ted approaches Paige and informs her that Greg and Abby are trying to eliminate him. A car attempts to run Ted down but misses him. Karen and Mack decide spend some time in the mountains and Karen asks Paula to join them. The Secretary of State names Abby as the the new trade representative to Japan. Abby asks Karen to keep an eye on her daughter. Abby and Brian pack and leave singing the song Don't Worry, be Happy.
Karen ends up breaking her ankle on the way to the mountains and is forced to stay overnight at a local hospital. When the only motel in the area has only one room available Mack says he'll sleep in the car. Mack has to change a tire on the car in the pouring rain and it then squirted by a skunk. When Paige returns home she finds her apartment trashed and that Rick's key has disappeared. Ted later follows Paige and attempts to get her to help him.Paige ends up going to Greg's ranch and Greg tells her that he will take care of Ted. Paige and Greg end up sleeping together. Paige finds Rick's key in Greg's room as he wakes up. Paige becomes concerned that he killed Rick and she runs out into the pouring rain. Greg comes out and shouts to her to get back inside. Ted is revealed as also being there and he shouts to her what he told her about Greg being the murderer is true. Paige ends up hiding not knowing who to believe.
Paige isn't sure who to believe and ends up trusting Ted and gets him to take her home. Paige gives him a fake one after he asks for the key back. She learns that Rick had a cabin in Spring Lake and decides to go there. With the local post office being closed, she checks into a hotel. Ted also makes his way to Spring Lake and waits in a bar for the post office to reopen. Greg shows up and demands the key from Ted. Val doesn't believe Danny is ill after he cancels a date with her and she takes him some chicken soup. Gary talks to Sally's friend once again and they agree to meet up. Gary hears a man come in and Sally's friend shouting at him to leave as they talk on the phone. The phone line ends up going dead.
Gary is unable to find Sally's friend. Val informs Karen that believes she is starting to fall in love with Danny. When Danny asks Val to become his wife she thinks he is joking. Paige, Paige finds the post office box and removes the envelope which contains Abby's original Morikame documents and the negatives of Ted with Nagata. After getting a flat tower, Paige goes to a garage where she hides documents in a towel holder and jumps out the window as Ted breaks in. Ted shows up wanting the evidence and Greg shows up as well. After Ted takes off and Greg leaves Paige retrieves the real papers. Ted's truck is pulled out of a lake. Ted is revealed as still being alive after he flags down a car to give him a lift.
Karen is not happy after she finds out that Mack and Paula shared a hotel room. Mack attempts to convince his wife that nothing happened. Eric gets a job in Saudi Arabia and asks his mother if Linda can stay with her whilst he is away. Sally's friend is revealed as being Amanda, the twins' nursery school teacher. Danny and Val make love and Danny then shows up at Amanda's, whom he also has a relationship with. Harold and Olivia fall out over their finances. Greg wants Paige to come back to work. Paige is not happy when Greg decides to send Ted to Japan instead of having him arrested. Paige and Ted clash in the building lift and he tells her that she is Greg's weakness because he loves her.
Greg is told by Paige that she wants Abby's old office, a new car and a $120,000 salary year to which he agrees. Greg also ends up paying Michael $100,000 for his computer program and employs him at the company. Karen is not happy when she finds out and learns that he has quit college. The twins end up asking Gary if they can move in with him as they do not like Danny. Gary goes to see Frank sing and has no clue that the first singer is Amanda. When he sees her kiss Danny he is shocked. After following them outside, he hears Amanda call her dog Chester, and realizes who she is.
Gary shows up at Val's house and asks Danny for Amanda's number. Val is upset after Danny tells Gary that Amanda is his wife. Danny tells Val they have been separated for nine months and Val ends up deciding that she wants nothing more to do with Danny. Amanda pays Gary a visit. Greg feels frustrated after Paige refuses to go on a date with him. Ginny takes the twins to see her friend Jeri at Oakman Industries. After Jeri steals $17,000, Ginny is arrested as an accessory. Jeri explains the reason why she took the money to Mack and is later discovered splattered on the pavement below her apartment window.
Danny attempts to convince Amanda that he loves her and doesn't want to end their marriage. Danny and Val later make up. Karen's friend asks her to stand in for her on the television show "Open Mike". Greg ends up being the guest on the show much to Karen's surprise. After arguing with Greg, Paula ends up having lunch with him. Ginny was at Jeri's at the time she was killed. Mack and Frank don't believe that committed suicide and learn that Mark Baylor was in her building at the time. Mac thinks Mark killed Jeri. Ginny ends up being arrested for her murder after the coroner says she died from a blow to her head before the fall.
Ginny ends up being released after the money is discovered in Baylor's apartment. Baylor wants Mack to defend him and insists that Oakman is setting him up because they don't want their books being made public. Ginny finds the money after going through Jeri's jewelry. Paige is given by Greg the Richfield account. Paige meets Tom Ryan. Greg takes Paula to a company party but Paula thinks he is using her to try and make Paige jealous. Things heat up between Tom and Paige after they see each other at the party. Linda offers to go to the party with Michael when he can't find a date. Linda and Michael end up realizing that they are very attracted to each other. Danny's not happy as Amanda prepares for a date with Gary.
Karen stands in on the "Open Mike" show once again. Harold and Olivia continue to be at odds about money. Karen is concerned about her son's spending habits. Mack and Karen are impressed by Tom. Mack and Mark Baylor show up at the courthouse to hand in the money that Ginny discovered. After seeing Tom in the restroom, Mark tells Mack that he is guilty, and dismisses him. The DA refuses to accept the money when he attempts to hand it over. Mack contacts Arnold Zimmer, another employee from Oakman and he ends up agreeing to be part of a law suit. Mack informs Tom but after Arnold breaks his arm he changes his mind about being part of the suit. Tom is paid off by somebody at Oakman and they warn him to stop seeing Paige.
Paige pays Tom a visit at the police station and he informs her that they are over. Tom is warned again to stay away from Paige otherwise something could happen to her. Mark wants Karen to try and convince Mack not to investigate Oakman. After pleading guilty, Mark is sentenced to 3 years in prison. When he is served with divorce papers, Danny is not happy. Danny breaks Amanda's grandmother's dishes after she decides to sell them. Danny takes Val to see Amanda sing. Amanda and Danny argue in front of Val and Gary when Danny wants the dog as part of their divorce settlement. Amanda finds Chester missing when she returns home and goes to Danny's place to get him back. Danny ends up raping Amanda.
Paige and Tom end up getting back together. Paige is attacked and her purse is stolen in front of Tom. Tom informs Oakman that he's dating Paige again because Mack's back on the case. Mack learns from Tom that Pomerantz has evidence against Oakman. Amanda tries to avoid Gary and gives up her job. Danny gives Amanda Chester back and wonders why she is so upset. Michael is surprised when Linda kisses him after announcing that she is going to divorce his brother. Karen becomes the new full time host of "Open Mike". Gary recognizes Amanda's voice as caller who talks about being raped recently. Val is given an engagement ring by Danny. Val later tells Karen she loves Danny more than she ever loved anyone.
Gary is able to get Amanda to agree to go to the police and report what Danny did to her. She talks to the police but there is no evidence to arrest Danny.Danny tells Val about the things Amanda is accusing him of and informs her that his lawyer said it's common in divorce. Amanda and Gary attempt to make Val see that Danny is a rapist, but she thinks Amanda is being vengeful. Gary attacks Danny after luring him to the ranch.
Paula wants Greg to prove to her that he really wants to be with her. Linda is helped by Michael to find an apartment to move in to. Eric returns home for a visit and informs his brother that he wants to win Linda back. Michael thinks that Linda should try and work things out with his brother. Harold and Olivia continue to be odds. Linda tells Karen that she is in love with Michael and not Eric.
Mack learns that Pomerantz is dead and he discovers the doctor who signed his death certificate works for Oakman and is Pomerantz's uncle. After quizzing the doctor, Mack learns that Pomerantz is really still alive and living in Canada. Val confronts Amanda. Linda ends up telling Eric that she no longer loves him. Michael is confronted by his mother and Mack about his involvement with Linda. Eric hears them talking and ends up punching Michael. Eric leaves town. Michael ends up deciding to move in with Harold.
After Michael loans Harold a lot of money, he ends up losing it gambling. Olivia invests some money she gets from Gary after telling him she needs it for tuition fees. Mack learns that Pomerantz is living in Canada as Neil Strauss and asks Tom to go to Canada with him. Tom pretends to call Paige but calls Oakman instead to tell him what is going on. Oakman sends Joe to Canada to eliminate Mack after Tom refuses. Pomerantz informs Mack that he'll trade his books of illegal loans for his freedom. At the airport they exchange books. Joe is arrested as he is about to eliminate Mack. Tom calls Oakman and informs him that Joe messed up and continues that Mack has the books and is going to the DA. Greg learns from Oakman that his pension fund scam is going to be revealed.
The D.A. ends up agreeing to look into the pension fund. Mack learns that Greg owns Oakman Industries. Greg ends up holding a press conference in which he says he fired Oakman and that he will restore the pension fund. Olivia makes a profit. Olivia decides to give Harold another chance after talking to Karen. Harold loses more of Michael's money after he takes part in a game of poker. Michael wants his money back because he needs it pay for a condo. Greg's daughter, Mary-Frances pays him a visit and he is happy to see her and they spend time together. Mary-Frances goes to Greg's office and after he leaves to speak to his secretary they hear a shot being fired. Mary-Frances is revealed as having been shot in the head.
Tom and police question everyone about the shooting. Jane shows up in town for Mary Francis' funeral. Tom finds out that Paige had a relationship with Greg and he isn't happy that she didn't tell him about it. Val and Danny bring forward their wedding day and Gary attempts to convince her minister not to marry them. Gary is confronted by Val after Danny tells him that Gary attacked him. Val and Danny end up eloping with only Ginny and the twins at the wedding.
Harold is pressured for money by both Michael and his bookmaker. Harold wants Mack to lend him $13,000 but after Mack finds out how much money Gary has already given him, he refuses. Tom receives a call from Harold who says he knows who he works for and continues that he will keep it a secret if he helps him out financially. After Greg gets drunk the ghosts of Mary Francis and Galveston follow him around. Carlos calls Paige for help and Paula also ends up showing up. Tom follows Paige and she becomes angry but they end up making up. Carlos gives Greg some floppy discs that Mary Francis had. The police learn where the sniper shot from and due to the amount of rubbish there, think he was there a long time, so Greg wasn't his target and that Mary Francis was.
Greg finds out that his daughter had been part of a subversive group, and used his computer to find out about shipments from Oakman Industries to "Monbasa" over the past couple of years. Val takes Danny to meet the neighbors and he manages to charm them all except for Karen. Gary and Amanda end up sleeping together and she then decides to move to Phoenix to start her life anew. Paige ends up breaking up with Tom after he lies to her. Mac ends up working out that Tom is a "dirty" cop who works for Oakman. Tom learns from Oakman that he has one last job for him to carry out. Harold takes all of the money out of Olivia's bank account to pay his bookmaker the money he owes him and leaves for Florida. Harold leaves a note telling Olivia to say sorry to Michael and for her to have a nice life. Greg ends up being shot.
Paige and Tom end up making up but she refuses to believe he is crooked cop until her father shows her proof. Mack discovers that Oakman chemicals are being used in agriculture which are banned in America because they can cause liver cancer. Oakman had used the pension funds to start a new company in Africa following the ban. Oakman is discovered dead. Eric shows up in town and he and Michael end up sorting out their differences. Linda gets a job at the Sumner Group. Karen and her producer Dianne on the television show don't get on. Greg is paralyzed and needs an operation as the police guard his hospital room. Mary Francis's boyfriend Robert shows up to the hospital and climbs in Greg's window. Robert informs Greg that he intends to inject him with the chemicals his company made, so he will suffer like his victims. Robert continues that Mary Francis was dying of this, so he killed her to publicize the plight, and then later also killed Oakman. After Robert injects the chemicals into Greg, he hands himself over to the police.
Tom informs Paige he will always love her and that he is going to turn his life around because of her. Michael rejects Linda after she makes a play for him. Associate producer Jeff is having an affair with Dianne and ends up telling both Karen and Dianne that the other is being difficult. Anne shows up at her daughter's door. Paula informs Karen that she is in love with Greg as she waits by his side at the hospital. Anne pays Greg a visit. Danny ends up taking the twins out at the time Gary is supposed to pick them up. Danny ends up telling Gary that he is going to adopt the twins. Gary wants Val to be honest with the twins and tell them that he is their father. After Val tells Danny that he can't adopt them, he looses it.
Dianne attempts to force Karen to quit her position on the show. Linda and Michael have to work together on an assignment. Paula attempts to get Greg to agree to follow doctors orders. After Anne shows up, Greg ignores Paula. The twins inform Gary that Danny told him thst Gary doesn't love them. Danny thinks that Val spoils the twins, and she's upset when he punishes them. Val learns that Danny was married before Amanda to a woman called Christine Ahern. Val calls Caroline's father who informs her that Danny beat and raped his daughter. Val ends up going to Mack's office but he isn't there so she calls Gary and leaves a message for hom to meet her there. Danny shows up and hears Gary leave a message for Val. Danny attacks Val.
Linda tries to get in Mrs. Richfield good books. Paula is nvited to attend an environmental conference but after returning home early she sees Greg and Anne having a romantic dinner together. Pat misses being a doctor and quits her job at the bank. Frank tells her it will put the family in danger and he threatens to leave her and take their daughter with him. Val and the twins go to stay with Gary. After taking the twins home, she tells them that Danny wont be living with them anymore but is surprised when he shows up.
Michael receives a call from Harold who tells him that will pay him back the mpney he owes him. Olivia decides to join Harold in Miami after he says sorry for what he has done and tells her that he still loves her. Pat decides to take a job as an aide at a hospital and ends up applying for her medical license. Julie refuses to leave when Frank decides to walk out on his wife. Jeff and Dianne warn Karen about becoming too friendly with her fans. Karen receives a rose in the post with a request for a naked photo. Paige is jealous of Greg's interest in her mother. Tom asks Paige to marry him. The Police inform Val that she can't make Danny move out without a court order. Val returns to Gary's ranch with Ginny and the twins. Danny changes the locks on the doors and informs his lawyer that he wants the house as part of the the divorce settlement. After getting drunk, Danny throws Val's possessions out the window and taunts Gary and Val after they show up.
Paige ends up agreeing to marry Tom. Karen is followed by a man called Wayne who has several pictures of her on his wall. Paula ends up taking a job in Toronto. The twins end up learning from Danny that Gary is their real father. Bobby becomes upset and runs away. After Gary finds him he admits the truth to him. Frank stays at the law office after having moved out. Mack and Karen are able to get Frank and Pat back together. Pat ends up being hit by Danny after he drives his car after drinking heavily.
Gary and Val enjoy being a family with the twins. Wayne steals Karen's sunglasses after he continues to follow her. Mack is worried about her being stalked. Diane hires a security guard for to look out for Karen who ends up being Wayne. Dianne and Jeff break up. Tom gives Paige and engagement ring. After Greg tries to give Paige a ring and asks her to move in with him she turns it down. Greg is upset about Paige's engagement and hires a detective to get him information on Tom. Pat is in a coma at the hospital. Frank pays Danny a visit at the jail and grabs him by the neck and threatens him. Pat opens her eyes and tells Frank that she loves him. Pat ends up getting a blood clot and slips into another coma.
Linda attempts to make Michael jealous. Greg learns that Tom used to be dirty cop. Sandra, Tom's new partner, accuses him of stealing $100,000 from a drug bust. Anne steals her daughter's driving license and puts her own photo on it and opens a bank account in her name. Karen receives some odd letters from a fan who signs them "my love always". Karen ends up nearly being hit by a light on set. After going home, she discovers a picture cut into small pieces, with "I hate you" written on it.
Gary is served with a restraining order by Danny. Gary begins to follow him around and hires detectives to follow Danny when he can't. Tom and his partner are under investigation. After Tom checks his bank balance he is shocked to discover his balance is $103,000. Anne informs her accountant that she didn't tell Paige about the trust fund she will receive after she's married. Karen learns that if she quits Dianne will replace her as host on the show. Karen is sent some flowers that have snakes in them. A scared Karen calls Wayne for help. Mack questions everyone at the station. After going to see Wayne, Mack finds the tribute he has made towards Karen.
Paige wants her father's help in finding out who is setting Tom up. After Mack refuses, she wants Greg to say he gave Tom the money but he refuses. Linda tells Michael that his brother used to hit and abuse her. Michael ends up taking her out. Wayne is arrested for stalking Karen. Someone leaves a cow's heart in a box with a note that says "you have a black heart" for Karen whilst Wayne is in jail. Frank learns that Pat is brain dead and he has a difficult decision to make. Danny tells Frank that he will have killed Pat and not him if he pulls the plug. Mack has to break up a fight between Frank and Danny. Julie points a gun at Danny and tells him that he will die before her mother does.
Julie fires a shot at Danny but misses. Frank is able to talk his daughter down from firing another shot. Pat is taken off life support and passes away as Frank sings to her. Michael and Linda end up sleeping together. Michael tells his mother that that he plans to marry Linda. Val tells Danny that she wants to get back together and will run away with him. He ends up agreeing and drives off in Val's car. After the police stop him they inform him that the car was reported stolen and he is arrested. Val and Gary watch him being arrested from a distance. Anne faxes a fake marriage certificate to the accountant so she can get her hands on Paige's inheritance. Tom and Paige prepare to get married. Tom learns from Greg that he set him up and will only clear his name if he leaves the country. Paige is upset when she finds out that Tom is gone. Gary asks Val to marry him. Mack and the police discover evidence that shows that Dianne is the person who has been terrorizing Karen. Dianne is taken to a psych ward, where they find LSD in her blood after she goes crazy. Jeff looks through a scrapbook he has of different murdered anchorwoman and starts a new page for Karen.
Danny claims that he has found the Lord whilst in prison. After being released he moves in with a woman called Mia who is also religious. Danny keep showing up at Val's door. Greg is surprised by a visit from his sister Claudia and her daughter Kate looks just like Mary Francis. Karen and Mac are given cell phones for protection. Jeff's building blows up.
Jeff is presumed as having been killed in the explosion. Ann is furious that Paige's trust fund didn't go to her account and she ends up returning Paige's wedding gifts to raise some money. Greg wants Paige to go away on a cruise for him. Claudia learns from Greg's doctor that it is doubtful he will survive six months. Greg is confronted by Tom after he returns with a gun to have his charges dropped. He insists to Paige that he has been set up by Greg. Paige ends up confronting Greg. All of the horses at Gary's ranch are released by Danny. Danny confronts Gary with a baseball bat.
Claudia discovers that Anne is broke. Anne decides to try and seduce Greg but when Tom shows up he thinks that her clothes belong to Paige. After attacking Gary, Danny forces him to drink some alcohol. Danny ends up putting Gary in a car that goes over the side of a cliff. Danny is kicked out by his new girlfriend after he pays a Val a visit. A worried Val calls the police after Gary fails to return home. Val, Mac and the police discover Gary's empty car. Danny is seen floating in a pool.
Karen is happy when she discovers that Jeff is alive, until he locks her in the television station and attempts to kill her. Karen learns that Wayne was killed in his apartment, and he sent her all the letters. Dianne ends up calling the police. After Jeff lies to the police, Dianne reveals that she has taped the whole thing. Gary calls Val and tells him what happened. Karen later offers Gary some advise. Paige and Tom make up and move in together. Somebody attempts to blackmail Anne. Danny's body is discovered and the police say his fingers were broken. The coroner informs Val that she's responsible for Danny's body and that she's being charged until she has his body buried.
The police discover that many people had a motive for killing Danny but Frank is the only one of them without an alibi. Karen is afraid to leave the house after what happened with Jeff. Val and Gary want Mac and Karen to be involved in their wedding. Paige tries to find a new job. Linda uses Paige's absence at work to try and get closer to Greg. Anne calls a former lover called Marco Conti, who is rich and married, and informs him they're being blackmailed. Anne is revealed as being behind the blackmailing stunt herself. After Marco promises her that he'll take care of it, he sends Nick Schillace to Knots Landing.
Nick thinks that Anne is behind the blackmailing and says that he is going to stay with her and go everywhere she goes. Anne's not happy that Marco only sent $20,000 to pay the blackmailer. Paige is not happy at work that everybody believes that she got the promotion for sleeping with Greg. Paige wants to know why Greg treats her like dirt. Paige walks out after Greg asks her to marry him. Karen returns to work. Diane thinks that Karen is an egomaniac and announces that she has got a new job and can't wait to leave. Police discover a button by the swimming pool where Danny was murdered. Ginny decides it is time for her to leave. Gary is looking forward to Val becoming his wife again and they go on a family picnic. The twins run up to Gary shouting out that something has happened to Val.
After Greg becomes really ill and Carlos attempts to call Paige. Tom and Paige end up falling out about her working for Greg and she leaves. Tom later pays Paige a visit at the office and tells her she's a brat and a bitch and ends up punching Greg. The police think Julie saw something the day Danny died. Nick learns from Anne that the blackmailers have called again and that they have to drop off the money at a department store. Anne puts alarm tags into many different bags causing all of the alarms go off. Anne manages to get her hands on the money and leaves. Nick says sorry to Anne for suspecting her and is scared what Marcos will do to him for losing the money. Val insists she is fine after hitting her head. Val begin to act oddly but Gary thinks she is just suffering with pre-wedding jitters.
Paige informs her father that she never loved Tom the way she loves Greg. Anne and Nick end up sleeping together and she informs him that the blackmailers have called for the rest of the money they want and that she has to meet them on her own. Nick gives her a briefcase with a bomb in it after switching it with the one full of money. Linda is given by Michael an engagement ring. The police learn from Julie that Danny showed up at the pool drunk as she was swimming in it. She continues that he hit her and said threatened to have her arrested for trying to shoot him. She says that she tried to run into the house and Danny came after her and his fingers got trapped in the door as he tried to come in after her. She continues that he then staggered around and fell into the pool and drowned. The police decide that Danny's death was an accident and nobody is to blame. Val acts strangely and ends up calling off the wedding.
Karen learns from Gary that he has decided to keep his distance from Val. After Greg collapses, Paige waits with him at the hospital. Claudia decides to stop Paige from seeing her brother at the hospital. Claudia is not happy after she learns what is in Greg's will. Julie's friend Jason manages to annoy her father. Nick discovers the $20,000 Anne stole and admits to her that there is a bomb in the briefcase he gave her. Linda has taken the briefcase that Anne hid in her daughter's office. Linda attempts to seduce Harvey to get him some of Paige's reports from him. After learning that the briefcase belongs to Anne, Linda puts it back and tells Paige who it belongs to. Anne manages to get the briefcase back. Anne and Nick decide to split the blackmail money but don't know which briefcase it is in when it becomes muddled with one with the bomb inside.
Jason is attacked by his father. Anne and Nick take the suitcases to a luggage store and then call in a bomb threat. Tom shows up and notices that one of the cases belongs to Anne. After leaving with it he buys himself a one way ticket to Brussels. Anne and Nick show up at Tom's place and find put that he has gone. Linda attempts to impress Alex, who works for Calloway. Alex informs Calloway that the Sumner Group is in place for a takeover. Kate informs the hospital that Paige is her cousin and that she can see Greg. Greg is pleased to see Paige. Claudia learns that a liver is going to a different patient. Claudia is able to get the liver given to her brother instead.
Frank takes Julie to school after learning she has been skipping classes and insists on sitting in on her lessons. Mack learns from Jason that his father passed away and he lives in a foster home. Mack finds out that Jason lied to him and after he goes to his house he hears his father hitting him. Claudia attempts to stop Paige from seeing her brother again and makes a new will for Greg with her as executor. Paige ends up agreeing to marry Greg after he proposes. Nick and Anne get married with Anne using her daughter's name. Alex wants Linda some confidential figures from Linda and she makes him sign a contract that he'll hire her if she ever looses her job. Val's behavior worries Karen and Gary. They learn from a doctor that she could be having brain seizures due to her accident. Val gets her haircut and ends up leaving the twins home on their own. The twins end up climbing up onto the roof to play.
Gary ends up rescuing the twins. Claudia discovers that Anne married Nick for Paige's money and she blackmails them into signing Greg's fake will. Anne learns that there is no money left in her daughter's trust. Nick is forced to leave for Italy but tells her he will be back. Greg learns from Linda that Paige's report was inaccurate and she has created another one. Paige is furious and walks out when Greg has a go at her. Alex informs Linda that Greg has cut his company off and has fired their management. Michael wants to get married on New Year's eve, but Linda wants to wait a bit longer. Carlos gives Paige a diamond bracelet from Greg for Christmas. Jason is taken away after Mack calls the police about his father. Mack later sees Jason standing outside of his house and Mack tells him that he doesn't have to go in.
Paige has a dream in which she meets herself when she is older and miserable because she married Greg. Paige learns from Greg that he has had a vasectomy and wants her to sign a pre-nuptial agreement. Paige ends up deciding not to marry Greg after all. Mack finds out that Jason was sent home because he refused to testify against his father. Mack and Frank attend a poetry reading at Julie's school. Jason is upset when his father doesn't attend but he is pleased to see Mack there. Jason later shows up at the MacKenzie house. Anne decides to go after Gary. Val thinks that Gary paid her doctor to say she has brain damage in an effort to take the twins away from her. Val takes aspirin instead of her pills. Val ends up moving in to the ranch after Gary refuses to let her take the twins home. Val isn't happy after Gary turns done her advances.
Mack allows Jason to stay the night but says that it not a long term solution. Mack ends up clashing with Jason's father. Jason sleeps rough in the park. Frank receives a call from Julie's teacher Charlotte who asks him to go to an art exhibit with her. Frank brings Peggy along when he isn't sure if it is a date or not. Charlotte ends up asking Frank out on a proper date. Paige is fed up with Linda. Anne makes sure that she runs into Gary at the gym. Karen discovers that Val hasn't been taking her pills and shows them to Gary.
Steve Brewer introduces himself to Kate. Linda gives Paige a report for Mrs. Richfield and she throws it away and has her take Mrs. Richfield's niece shopping. Linda ends up giving a copy of her report to the niece, and Mrs. Richfield is impressed by it. Frank ends up canceling his date with Charlotte when Julie wants him to go out to dinner with her. Julie tells Frank that she knows Charlotte goes to the restaurant every Friday and she took him there to get them together. Mack receives a call from Jason for help.
Mac and ask to become Jason's foster parents in court but the judge ends up deciding that he should stay with his father. Mack speeds off with Jason in his car. Mack is arrested after refusing to tell anyone where Jason is. Frank and Charlotte finally go out on a date. Gary learns that Val isn't responding to her medication but could get better on her own. Susie gets a job at the Sumner Group and is no good. Steve quizzes Kate about her father and Claudia. Steve accidentally bumps into Paige's car and she demands that he fixes it. It is revealed that Steve is on parole and he is told to find a job and stay out of trouble otherwise he will end up back in jail.
Paige learns from Claudia about her mother's fake marriage to get her hands on her trust fund. Anne goes to the ranch to get a puppy but becomes bored after Gary talks about Val all the time. Paige throws her mother out and she is found by Nick. He calls her Betty and informs her to call him Dimitri.Claudia learns from Steve that he is her son and wants to know why she gave him away as a baby. Claudia ends up throwing Steve out. Mack is put in jail for hiding Jason and Gary agrees to help him. Val thinks that Gary is seeing another woman when he goes to see Jason. The twins tell Val about Anne coming to the ranch. After Paige is threatened by Jason's uncles, he comes out of hiding to help her. Jason is forced by his uncles to leave with him.
Mac is released from jail and Jason's returned to his father, who promises to change but ends up continuing to be as abusive as before. When Jason leaves his father follows him. Anne learns from Nick that he was traveling with a rich woman called Betty and she was supposed to pick something up from her relatives. After pretending to be Betty, her relatives give Anne a doll. Kate finds out that Steve is really her brother. Linda flirts with Greg after blowing Michael off. Val leaves after she hears Gary making plans to have her committed.
Jason's father is thrown in jail after attacking him again. Mack stays with Jason at the hospital. Linda ends up sleeping with Greg and splits up with Michael. Claudia refuses to tell Steve or her daughter who Steve's father is. Anne and Nick attempt to discover if the doll is worth something or if something is hidden inside it. The doll ends up being destroyed by the dog. Val shows up and warns Anne to stay away from Gary and takes the dog. A man breaks in and demands that Anne gives a vial that was hidden in the doll. The man is arrested after Paige shows up with security to have Anne and Nick thrown out. Anne and Nick work out that the dog ate the vial, so they break into Gary's barn. The problem is though is that all the puppies look the same.
Val returns to the hospital to have further tests carried out. Anne and Nick finally find the vial and it has a microfiche map in it. With two different parties wanting it, they decide to make a copy and sell it to both. After Charlotte tells Frank she doesn't want a serious relationship with him, he ends up going out on a series of disastrous dates. Claudia lies to Steve about how his real father is. Mack discovers that he is going to be disbarred for hiding Jason. Jason moves into the MacKenzie house.
Jason's father fails to show up for a goodbye dinner with him. Anne and Nick discover that the money is counterfeit and they are forced to get real jobs, but they both end up being fired on their first day. Knowing who Steve's real father is, Anne decides to blackmail Claudia. Kate learns that Steve was in prison. Kate wants Greg to give Steve a job. Steve becomes Paige's assistant and she isn't happy. Paige and Steve get stuck in a lift together. Paige later sees Greg and Linda together.
Val's doctors discover that she has a rare virus that is causing her odd behavior and that it's curable. Greg offers his sister a position as head of his foundation. Mrs. Richfield wants Linda to work on her account together with Paige. Steve informs Kate that his adoptive parents were forced out of their logging business by a big logging company and that his dad was killed, and his mother died just 6 months later. He continues that he got drunk and beat up the company representative and ended up in jail. Steve learns that Greg owns the logging company. Jason learns that he has won a regional writing contest and the final prize is a year abroad in Sweden.
Linda misses a meeting with Mrs. Richfield to meet her mother, Doris, at the airport. Doris and Linda fall out and Doris decides to return home. Greg ends up taking both Paige and Linda off the Richfield account. Paige and Linda continue to be at odds. Val is cured and Gary wants them to get married straight away. Anne is appointed by Claudia to the board of the Foundation and Greg works out that Anne has something on his sister. Anne attempts to get her hands on a copy of Paul Galveston's will and tells Nick that Steve is worth a lot of money because he is Galveston's son and Greg's brother.
Anne suggests a charity for Claudia's group to fund but it's really to fund her and Nick. Claudia knows what Anne is up to and attempts to delay the decision. Michael decides to leave his position at the Sumner Group. A fire ends up breaking out in the Sumner Building and all the exits are sealed off. Greg ends up asking Linda to move in with him. Steve says sorry to Paige and ends up kissing her. Julie and Jason end up sharing a kiss. Gary and Val end up eloping.
Steve is told by Paige that the kiss they shared meant nothing. Paige is assigned by Greg to become the head of Sumner Plaza and introduces her to Brian, the architect. Brian and Paige share a kiss after having dinner together. Brian and Linda are revealed as knowing one another and sleep together. Linda moves in with Greg and he attempts to get her to play croquet. Gary offers Kate a job at the ranch. Claudia's not happy as she wanted her daughter to work at the Sumner Group. Frank is not happy when he sees Julie and Jason kissing. Anne and Nick steal a valuable piece of art from the Sumner collection. After Anne wakes up she finds Nick and the piece of art gone. Anne continues to blackmail Claudia. Claudia ends up revealing the truth to Greg and Steve about who Steve's real father is.
Steve is told by Greg that he's not entitled to any of Galveston's money but does offer him $250,000 and continues that he can either save his logging town or go to the Bahamas. Kate decides to move in with Steve after finding out that her mother lied about her scholarship. Julie and Jason go to a party where one of their friends is attacked by a gang. Frank tells his daughter that she can not see Jason anymore. Brian attempts to seduce Paige and she notices that he has a video camera recording. She ends up punching him and leaves. Linda ends up agreeing to allow Brian to record them together as long as she can keep the tape after. Brian disappears and so does the tape. Michael buys a van and tells mother that he is leaving to go traveling. Anne's landlord throws her out and she leaves several messages for her daughter but she ignores them all.
Anne ends up spending the night on a park bench and her purse and suitcase are stolen. Nobody wants to help Anne. Steve decides to return to his logging town,and Kate decides to help him move. Claudia hides her gun in Steve's van and calls the police and tells them that he stole it. The police stop Steve's van and discover the gun. Steve tells Kate that having the gun violates his parole. Steve ends up being involved in a scuffle and is shot and killed by the police. Linda can't find the tape, but does find the one of Paige, and puts it in Brian's car. Paige is questioned by the police as she was the last person to see Brian. The police officer calls his partner who turns out to be Tom Ryan. Frank decides to work with Mack again. The gang wants Jason to join them but Mack and Frank attack them and end up being arrested by the police. Karen is shot with a paint pellet by a group of teens and goes after them in her car. The teen's car ends up being involved in a crash and Jason is revealed as being in the back of the car.
Kate thinks that her mother is responsible for setting Steve up. Ann bumps into Benny Appleman, who owes her money. He ends up allowing her to move in with him and they attempt to come up with some scams. Gary meets Joseph Barringer, who is experimenting with how to capture ocean waves to make a new form of energy. Gary wants in on the idea. Paige meets Pierce Lawton whilst she is in Toronto. Karen becomes a hero for making a stand against teen violence.
Linda learns from Brian that his wife sent a detective to follow him and that he killed the detective. Brian wants Linda to pretend to be his wife so that he can get the gold coins out of his gym locker. Linda tells Brian's wife where he is. Gary and Joseph want Greg to back their new company. Paige is interested after Greg decides that he doesn't want to work with Gary again. Kate moves into a new apartment and refuses to speak to her mother. Karen is wanted by the D.A. to plead guilty to reckless endangerment. Mack doesn't want his wife agreeing. Val ends up meeting a waitress called Lynette, from Mule Shoe, Texas where her mother grew up. Paige and Pierce spend some time together and he ends up telling her that he loves her.
Pierce likes the idea of Tidal Energy and meets with Gary and Joseph. Greg fires Paige after he discovers that she showed Gary's proposal to Pierce. Paige gets a job working at Tidal Energy. Greg talks to Joseph about funding him but he refuses to cut Gary out of the deal. Kate is asked by Joseph to join him for lunch. Paige is embarrassed by her mother. Val offers to teach Lynette to read. Karen is upset at being seen as a hero. Linda is attacked by Brian.
Karen's station want her to have Anne on the show as a guest. Anne ends up talking about being homeless on the show. Karen informs Val that she's lost interest in hosting the show. Frank is asked out on a date. Greg learns that Linda has been murdered. Val finds it hard to teach Lynette to read. Claudia ends up taking an overdose of pills and is found by Kate and Mack.
Greg wants the police to make sure that they find Brian, and he ends up hiring his own detective to find him. Greg is being followed by Brian. After breaking up with his girlfriend Victoria, Pierce tells Paige all about her. Lynette wants Val to help her with her IRS problems but Val tells her she is only here to help her to learn to read. Frank and Debbie continue to see one another. Claudia suffers with nightmares. Kate thinks her mother faked the suicide but Karen convinces her to go see her. Kate ends up making up with her but decides that she still can not live with her.
Claudia informs Karen that she's been saying "Rosa" in her dreams. She continues that she doesn't know a Rosa, but when Karen sees a letter signed Rosa, Claudia says she was her mother's nurse. Victoria finds it hard to get over her break up with Pierce. After Joseph kisses Kate, they both feel awkward after. After Brian kills the detective that Greg hired, he asks Mack to make sure the police find him. Tidal Energy needs shoreline room for their experiments and Greg attempts to stop them from getting it. Tidal Energy ends up getting its permit though and Greg's not happy.
Anne's new radio show is a success and she tells Benny that she's going to move into her own apartment. Benny is upset about her leaving as he has fallen in love with her. Joseph ends up quitting his job at the University to work full time for Tidal Energy. Joseph and Kate sleep together after declaring their love for one another. Debbie breaks up with Frank because she wants to take the next step in their relationship and he isn't ready. Pierce suffers with nightmares involving Victoria. Victoria tells Paige that Pierce has a dark side. After Victoria tells Pierce that she still loves him, she asks him if Paige knows about the data list. Greg is followed by Brian to Meg's birthday party and ends up pointing a gun at Karen and Meg in the backyard.
Karen, Mac, Jason and Meg end up being held hostage by Brian. Brain leaves messages for Greg demanding that he comes back to the house. Mac is sent by Brian to cash some bonds and he starts to kiss Karen. Greg finally ends up calling and Brian demands money and a car. After Julie barges in, Mac and Brian struggle for the gun and Jason ends up being hurt. Karen manages to gain control of the gun and points it at Brian until the police show up.
Meg and Mac find it hard to get over what has happened but Karen tells Mac she won't live in a high security home. Jason doesn't want to go to Sweden after winning the writing contest. Tidal Energy's life sized model doesn't end up working. Joseph says he needs more money to be able to get it to work. Gary decides to mortgage the ranch to fund the the project. Claudia gets an obituary which says that Rosa Barth has died. Victoria informs Greg that she will give him information that will help bring Pierce down. Paige is stalked by Victoria and finds her in her bed.
Gary is advised by Mac not to mortgage the ranch and Val is upset that Gary doesn't know when it is time to cut his losses. Frank misses being around Debbie. Paige learns from Greg that ten years ago Pierce took his pregnant girlfriend sailing and she drowned and that he was suspected of killing her. Pierce ends up disappearing. Paige is worried after his car is found at the beach. After showing up, Pierce opens up to Paige.
The bank aren't sure about loaning Gary the money he needs because of Pierce's past. Gary is furious with Pierce. Mac and Karen are worried are Greg shows a renewed interest in Meg. Gary and Val spend Christmas with Karen and Mac. Val tells Karen she misses living in the cul-de-sac. Claudia and Kate spend Christmas with Greg. Joseph is offended after Greg asks him if he has the funds to support Kate. Jason leaves for Sweden. Pierce sees a robe that Anne gave Paige and becomes furious after he thinks that Greg gave it to her. Paige ends up asking Pierce to leave.
Mac and Karen end up deciding to allow Greg to be part of Meg's life. Mac learns from Victoria that Pierce killed his last girlfriend. She also gives Gary numbers for Pierce's former business partners. After Gary calls some of the numbers he hears nothing good about Pierce. Gary fights the urge to have a drink. Greg gets Joseph a job in Massachusetts but he doesn't tell Kate about it. Alex, Rosa's nephew, shows up at Claudia's door. Alex comes on to Claudia after telling her that he knows her secret. Pierce becomes furious after learning that Joseph spent Christmas at Greg's and accuses him of giving Greg information about him. Paige stops Pierce from killing Joseph.
Gary fights with Joseph after he quits his job. Gary has to stop all operations. Late refuses to leave with Joseph. Greg ends up buying a date with Anne at a charity auction. Julie is sent to live with relatives by Frank. Alex goes through Claudia's bank book and breaks some of her artifacts. Greg is blamed by Pierce for the loss of the company and his breakup with Paige. Paige is attacked by Pierce.
Pierce plots to get even with Greg. Greg offers Paige her old job back. Alex arranges a party for Claudia where he gives her a picture of her mother, Ruth Sumner Galveston. Alex later informs Claudia that he was there when her mother died. Gary is upset as the ranch is auctioned off and he and Val move back to the cul-de-sac.
Victoria is told by Pierce that if she gives him all the information she has on Greg, he will sleep with her. Pierce talks to Claudia about Kate. Paige learns that Pierce is going after Greg. Greg and Anne sleep together. Gary ends up agreeing to run the ranch for the new owner bu they soon fall out on how it should be run. After Gary quits, Val sells her wedding ring to raise some money. Gary ends up buying the ring back.
Pierce ends up blackmailing Mort into giving him information on Greg's business deals. Vanessa shows up and asks to stay with Kate. Alex ends up telling Greg what he knows about Claudia after she throws him out. Greg ends up offering Alex a job so that he can keep an eye on him. Claudia ends up sleeping with Alex after he makes a play for her daughter. Val's publisher wants her to write a biography about Greg. Val decides to write it despite Karen and Mac's concerns.
Claudia still wants Alex to move out. Alex flirts with Vanessa. Paige wants her mother to offer Kate a job at the radio station. Anne ends up hiring Vanessa to be her assistant though instead. Val talks to Greg about the book. Pierce attempts to spoil Greg's business deal but fails. Pierce ends up being thrown out of a restaurant after clashing with Greg. Pierce buys a gun. Paige has dinner with her mother and Greg at his ranch but as they go to leave Greg sees Pierce. A shot is fired by Pierce.
Paige is rushed to the hospital after being shot. Surgeons are able to remove the bullet but her spine is swollen and she could end up being paralyzed. Anne thinks that she is a bad mother. Pierce is discovered by Claudia at her house. Piece gives Claudia a message to give to Paige before leaving. Anne feels jealous as she sees Greg sitting with her daughter and ends up telling him that their relationship is over. Vanessa has to fill in for Anne at the radio station. Alex and Vanessa end up having sex. When Paige wakes up, she has no feeling in her legs at all.
A woman calls Val and informs her that she has information about Greg and Meg. Thinking that Pierce could be behind the call, Gary follows Val to the meeting. Alex asks Kate out to dinner. Paige and Anne decide to start their relationship a new after Anne tells her daughter how much she loves her. Paige begins to regain feeling in her leg. Greg tries to tell Paige how he really feels about her. Paige ends up being abducted from the hospital by Pierce.
Claudia looks after her brother's business whilst he's gone. Claudia sees Alex and Vanessa together. Val meets with the mystery woman who is called Mary Robeson. Val learns from Mary that her son Joe worked for Greg and Laura had an affair with him and that Joe is Meg's real father. Val doesn't believe what Mary has told her. When Paige wakes up she discovers that she is aboard a yacht. Paige soon realizes that Pierce thinks that she is Margaret his girl friend who died. Paige manages to leave a clue. Mac and Greg take off in a boat after getting a lead. After catching up with Pierce's boat, Pierce and Greg fall into the water, and Greg disappears under the water.
Val is told by Mary that Greg is trying to have her killed. Meg is secretly watched by Mary through the McKenzie's window. Greg wants his sister to continue to run the business for now as he cant focus. Alex attempts to blackmail Claudia. The search is called off when there is no trace of Pierce's body. Paige is upset by the fact that Greg is now avoiding her. Anne and Karen attempt to get Greg to go see Paige. After Paige ends up going to see him, Greg opens up to her and they end up kissing.
Val travels to Florida against Gary's wishes. Val discovers that Mary was Laura's real mother and that Greg had her set up to be sent to prison. After calling Karen to tell her what she has discovered, Karen discovers that Meg has disappeared. Mary is threatened by Greg into leaving town. After deciding never to return to the business, Greg divides it up. Alex ends up sleeping with Kate and informs both Claudia and Vanessa that he genuine feelings for Kate. Paige rehires Alex after Claudia fires him and Claudia ends up threatening to tell Kate about Alex's affair with Vanessa. After sleeping with Paige, Greg attempts to distance himself a bit. Anne discovers that she is pregnant. Gary comes up with a new business idea. Paige is shocked when she discovers Pierce in the back of her car.
Pierce is arrested after pulling a knife on Paige and getting into a fight with Alex. Meanwhile, Mary returns to town and reveals to McKenzie that she is Laura's mother.
As Gary heads to Florida in search of Val, Kate catches Alex and Vanessa in the shower together and ends up kicking them out.
Claudia is able to get Vanessa a job at a television station; Alex winds up with Paige; after the riots, Greg is appointed to a task force to rebult Los Angeles; and Gary returns from Florida, frustrated that he did not find out anything about Vanessa.
Gary learns that Val has been kidnapped, but as he chases the kidnappers in his car, the car Val is in explodes. Meanwhile, Anne begins to plan her wedding to Greg; and Mary is awarded visiting rights with Meg.
Kate helps Gary and the twins deal with Val's death, which ends up bringing the two closer together. Meanwhile, Greg appoints an ex-baseball player to his task force to rebuild Los Angeles; Anne admits to Mac that she is not pregnant, forcing Mac do debate telling Greg the truth about Anne.
Nick moves in with Claudia and she buys him an Italian restaurant in order to give him a solid reason to stay in town. Meanwhile, Kate feels guilty for falling for Greg; Mac and Karen's marriage becomes strained; and Mac asks Paige for one million dollars.
Bill is given an offer to play baseball in Japan and asks Paige to go with him, but is crushed when Paige admits she is not in love with him.
Vanessa wants Anne to give her $2,000 a week to keep her secret. Anne finds out that Greg had Bill sent to Japan. Anne looses the baby after faling off a horse. Karen finds out that Mac tried to set up Mary. When Karen pays Mary a visit she finds her dead at her apartment.
Kate helps Gary get a new hire a housekeeper and shares with him about the way she feels. Vanessa is not happy that Anne wont give her the money. Anne admits the truth to Greg. Karen doscovers a tape that Mary made of her with Mac and hides it before calling the police. Mac gets rid of the tape but Mary had sent another copy to Toni who gives it to the police. Mack ends up getting arrested for Mary's murder.
Karen and Gary are refused access to Mack whilst h is being booked for the murder of Mary. Kate and Gary share a close moment. Karen is upset when she finds out that Mack doesn't want to see her. Karen turns to Greg for help.
Greg attempts to froce Claudia to return her half of the money or he will make her disappear. Nick ends up giving her the money she needs but wont tell her where he got it from. Kate starts working for Greg. Gary pulls away after Kate kisses him. Mac tries to find out who really killed Mary. Gary asks Kate to watch the twins after he gets a lead on Val.
Karen and Peggy are forced to cover for Mac when Tom shows up to question him. Joe denies killing Mary when questioned. Tom is asked by Paige to wait 24 hours after he discovers that Mac has skipped bail.
Gary informs Karen that Mary was really Laura's aunt, and that Laura's mother died in childbirth. The charges against Mac end up being dropped and Joe is also released. Nick tells Joe that killing Mary wasn't part of the plan. Joe is later discovered dead. Nick gives Claudia a briefcase of money and wants her to open a bank account in a fake name. Gary tells Kate that he isn't ready to be in a relationship again yet after she comes on to him again. Karen decides to go stay with Diana for a while after she feels distant from Mac.
After being ignored by Greg, Anne makes a play for Nick. Greg lets Anne know that his heart doesn't belong to her. Claudia is blackmailed by Greg into selling him her shares. Kate is involved in an accident.
Kate ends up being fine and Gary tells her she needs to find someone more her own age. Kate decides to leave town. Tom looks into Kate's accident and Paige tells him that there is probably a link to whoever gave Claudia money. Vanessa ends up telling Tom that Nick is involved with Treadwell.
Diana thinks that her mother should give Mack another chance. Greg buys an expensive racehorse. Anne and Nick decide to steal it and ask for a $4 million ransom so they can leave town together. Greg ends up refusing to pay the ransom as the insurance money is worth more. Vanessa sleeps with Tom.
Claudia and Kate stay at Greg's ranch where he has hired more security. Claudia ends up selling her shares to her brother. Gary ends up telling Kate that he wants her in his life and they share a kiss. Mick is beaten up by Treadwell's men. Greg is shot but it is revealed that he is wearing a bulletproof vest. Vanessa runs away after seeing Tom with Paige. Mac attempts to convince Karen not to give up on them. Vanessa learns that a plane that Paige and Greg are about to fly on is going to blow up and she warns Tom.
Tom is able to talk Greg and Paige through disarming the bomb. Treadwell is furious that the bomb failed to explode and that Val has escaped. Val disguises herself. Va and Gary are reunited and Karen is shocked to find out that she is still alive. Tom asks Paige to become his wife. Claudia makes a deal with her brother. Nick meets with Abby and tells her that Treadwell is out of control and needs to be stopped.
Vanessa shoots Treadwell as he is about to shoot Nick. Val is reunited with her children now that Treadwell is finally out of the way. Kate decides to leave town after Gary and Val reunite. Abby informs Greg that she was Treadwell's partner and that she is taking over the Sumner Group. Greg is able to stop Abby's plans. Nick and Anne decide to move to Monaco together. At the airport they find out that Claudia has also made plans to move to Monaco. Paige and Greg share a kiss. Abby tells everyone that she is buying her old house back.
