| 1 :01x01 - Last Stop Vienna(1) (Nov/10/1994) | When a bomb explodes in a rooftop cafe in Vienna a former Russian secret agent dies. In the ensuing chase shots are exchanged and the owner and trainer of the police dog Rex is killed.
Inspector Richard Moser saves a grieving Rex from being euthanased. Newly divorced, Moser is lonely, and finds companionship with Rex. However, when he introduces Rex to his two colleagues, Höllerer and Stockinger at the Vienna Murder Squad, he finds that some tact is required, especially with Stockinger who is afraid of dogs.

The Vienna Murder Squad have a recording of the murderer's voice, and for quite a long time this is the only evidence available to them.
While giving evidence, one of the witnesses observes Rex playing with a toy which had been given to him by the daughter of one of the victims. This jogs her memory, and she is able to provide information which helps to solve the case. Herbert Waltz, a retired Police Officer who had worked with Kunz in the Robberies Section of the Vienna Polizei is shot and killed by Hanusch, and thus he (Hanusch) comes to the attention of the Vienna Murder Squad.
Hanusch is in Vienna to rescue his girlfriend Claudia, a former bank clerk who had worked with him on his last job but who is now serving time in prison. Hanusch, working in the catacombs below Vienna, is digging a tunnel into the prison. A stable lad, Josef Swoboda, witnesses Stein's cruel treatment of the horse, and is killed by Stein's intellectually handicapped brother Gerhard.
In an effort to recoup some of their losses, Stein uses a 'ring-in' for Sirius and this successfully fools the insurance company's Veterinary Surgeon. A fake kidnapping of 'Sirius' is then staged.

Brandtner and the team make enquiries, and when a further two crimes of a similar nature take place he believes that he has a serial killer on his hands. But something about the evidence indicates that more than one person is involved in these apparently random murders.

Tina Hecht has moved from her old address and Stoll kills the new tenant, Gabriele Schranz, while trying to abduct her in the mistaken belief that she is Tina. Gabriele's boyfriend comes under suspicion for a short while, but it isn't long before Brandtner and the team get a lead on Stoll. Before they can capture him, however, he manages to kidnap Tina and imprison her in a cage surrounded by electrified flooring.

After cross-examining the woman, Niki goes home to Marc's place, taking Rex with her. She is planning a surprise for Marc's birthday. She does not realise that the other two criminals involved in the robbery have her under observation and intend kidnapping her so that they can get their hands on the proceeds of the robbery.

He succeeds in shooting Rex, but Rex survives the attack and Marc and Kunz find that the Austrian animal protection laws are simply not stringent enough, and Huneck is allowed to walk free. Marc decides to conduct further investigations into Huneck's past and discovers that he is linked to a ten year old murder. Niki is on a training course and takes a day off in order to assist.
Huneck also has other equally deadly plans. He rents a soundproof room and proceeds to abduct a young woman whom he intends to torture. Kunz is on his trail, but it is a race against time to save the girl. They discover that Dr. Hurch had also found out that one of the doctors at the hospital had no medical qualifications at all, and was threatening to expose him for fraud and indecent assault. However, Dr. Graf is able to ascertain that the dead woman was already deceased before she was pushed underneath the wheels of Nina's car, and it appears that it is a case of murder with a possible motive of revenge against Nina.

This man has a shameful secret which he is trying to hide, plus he also has a criminal record and things are looking very grim indeed for him. A man with many enemies, including retired dancer Fraulein Gebetsberger and wheelchair bound Thomas Faber, it is a difficult job for Niki, Marc and Kunz to narrow the list down to a number of suspects and then to find out who the true murderer is.
During the course of this investigation Kunz makes friends with a miniature black dragon lizard which he plans to eventually release back into the Danube Woods.

| 121 :10x02 - At Last The Beast Is Dead (Oct/12/2004) | Rex directs Marc's attention to a box floating in a river, and a subsequent retrieval of the box reveals that it contains a very young puppy who is promptly christened Fritz because of its resemblance to Kunz. Rex becomes the puppy's babysitter until a suitable home is found for it.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Zartmann, a businessman, is found shot to death in a nearby park where he had had an assignation with somebody. He is detested by his family and during the subsequent investigation Marc and Kunz find out why this was so.

Hedl discovers that Polidori is the mastermind behind all of these crimes and is in fact using her to gain inside information. Forensic Pathologist Katia Martelli is attracted to Inspector Lorenzo Fabbri, but Rex soon becomes jealous and as the investigation proceeds Rex soon puts a stop to the budding relationship with a little bit of help from Morini, Fabbri's colleague at the Crime Investigation Bureau. | | | |
| 128 :11x04 - Art Lessons (Jan/08/2009) | When art critic Kurt Castro is found murdered the case is investigated by Inspector Fabbri and Rex, with Morini and Forensic Scientist Katia Martelli assisting. Fingerprint evidence indicates that the murderer is a former callboy by the name of Mirko Bertolini.
However, further investigation reveals that Castro's wife Gloria has a very strong motive for the crime. It is Rex who finally solves this complex and interesting case. | | | |
| 129 :11x05 - It's Not All Gold (Jan/15/2009) | Building contractor Franco Mantovani has been having an affair with his young secretary, Teresa Zauli. When Teresa falls pregnant Mantovani insists that she have an abortion. Teresa refuses, telling Mantovani that she will tell his wife all about the affair. Mantovani assaults Teresa, and she falls and hits her head, dying instantly.
Lorenzo Fabbri and Rex investigate the case and find that all of the circumstantial evidence points to Mantovani but that there is no real proof. It is Rex who finally solves this case, using his unique canine gifts. | | | |
| 130 :11x06 - Maternal Instinct (Jan/22/2009) | When a small boy is found unconscious and bleeding in a local park, Fabbri, Morini, Rex and Katia investigate. Forensic evidence indicates that the child was assaulted at a different area to the one from where he was found. Katia is interested in a button which has fallen into the child's trouser cuffs, realising that this is vital evidence in a particularly brutal crime.
Fabbri and Katia have dinner together during the course of the investigation. A jealous Rex plans to break up their affair. | | | |
| 131 :11x07 - In Vino Veritas (Jan/29/2009) | Following a night of passion with Katia, Inspector Fabbri is awakened by a phone call from Morini. A murder has been committed at a local restaurant and the owner, Giuseppe Iraci is the victim.
The motive behind the murder is obscure with no apparent robbery having been committed until Rex, with his superior sense of smell, discovers that some very rare bottles of wine have been stolen from the cellar of the restaurant.
Throughout this enquiry a jealous Rex assiduously ignores Inspector Fabbri. | | | |
| 132 :11x08 - Far Away From Here (Feb/05/2009) | When wealthy Barbara Loria is kidnapped by masked intruders, her bodyguard Riccardo Muzzi manages to shoot one of the kidnappers before he is himself fatally shot through the heart. As a former colleague and friend Fabbri is determined to bring the murderers to justice.
The kidnappers contact Barbara's father telling him that if he leaves the ransom money on a bus his daughter will be released. Fabbri disguises himself as a blind man with Rex as his seeing eye dog, and conceals himself on the bus among the other passengers. | | | |
