Kyle XY
the pilot of this show really got me hooked. Matt Dallas is narrating everything from his point of view as he wakes up in the forest, not having any memory of who he is, or what he is. this pilot is one of the best i've seen i think, and it makes you wonder what's really going on. he is really like a 16 year old CHILD, being curious of everything, and wanting to explore everything he sees around him. all though I'm not a fan of narrating, and it sounds a little bit stiff when Dallas reads the script, I chose to ignore it, and really focus on his acting and the atmosphere the creators of the show is trying to make. I have to say, throughout all of season 1, I was hooked and thought it was exciting and confusing, but once you get a hold of what's going on, it kinda slows down a bit. Kyle's foster brother Josh has his notebook where he writes down everything Kyle does that's weird, in his theory of Kyle being an alien. and the fact that Kyle doesn't remember anything and has a remarkable ability to learn anything, doesn't have a bellybutton, etc, really makes you agree with Josh's silly little notebook. it's hard to write a describing review about this show without spoiling anything, so I'm trying to write this and adjust it for you if you haven't seen the show yet. what I can tell you though, is that you can make up your own theories of why Kyle is how he is, but I can almost guarantee you that you're wrong. I love to be wrong. I hate it when I predict the events (not psychically of course, but obviously, as if you go "ah i bet this and that is going to happen next"), but this show challenges you. at least the first season, and somewhat the second season too. but as I said, once you have a certain idea of what's happening, there's not much left to explore... sure there are some mystery about it all, and the character Kyle himself IS interesting just for being there, but when they take the science of the show and turn it into fiction AS IF it's science, it gets a bit bold. I was so happy when they announced Kyle to return, but when I saw the returning episode, i had forgotten about the clichés and the obvious drama happenings, as if they have to adjust the science fiction to a wider audience. a lot of the dialogues are a bit dull, and the typical "i love you/i hate you" romance drama is of course included. the good things about this show, however weigh up for the dull parts (yes, lori/declan +obvious cliche misunderstandings), and it's a good show. without spoiling anything, I also find Jessi (appearing in season 2--->present) very interesting. and of course it helps a lot that she's frikkin beautiful. I've never liked the romance cliché's in this show, but as I said, the good parts weigh up for it, and it's a show with few 'filler' episodes, intriguing storyline, and interesting characters.
