AJ Cooper [Season 5], played by Tom Selleck

AJ Cooper is a self-made billionaire who acquires the Montecito gaming empire by paying the outstanding tax obligations on it after Casey Manning's death. Cooper (as he prefers to be called) owns the largest cattle ranch in Wyoming among other enterprises. He's a cowboy at heart. He has a somewhat mysterious past, but it's known that he was in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and survived the siege of Que Sahn. This gives him some common ground with Danny McCoy, whom he promotes to Ed DeLine's former position as President of Operations.

Cooper has some unconventional ideas concerning running his casino. Shortly after taking over he directed the staff to distribute $1000 to every player on the floor to kick off his "Anything can Happen" campaign. Subsequently he handed out keys to random people on the casino floor and gave away 15 large pick-up trucks. The trucks were then driven through the casino, horns blaring, with the happy winners waving and shouting from the truck cabs. His rationale was that for the $450,000 that the Aston-Martin they were giving away as a slot jackpot, he could give away 15 pick-up truck and that would make more people happy.

Cooper also has an affinity for bowling. When the suite that was demolished in the bombing at the end of season 4 was renovated, he made it into a bowling suite, complete with bowling alley.

Cooper is very unpredictable and always keeps the staff of the Montecito on their toes.
