This is the first "Law & Order" show to premiere midseason.
Like every other "Law & Order" spin-off, the first episode has a special guest appearance from someone from the flagship show. In this case it is Sam Waterston as E.A.D.A. Jack McCoy.
Although they starred in Law & Order together for two seasons, this was the first time that Jerry Orbach (Lennie Briscoe) and Fred Dalton Thompson (Arthur Branch) shared a scene.
