When the wife of an entrepreneur is found bludgeoned and brutally raped on her kitchen floor, Detectives Benson and Stabler believe the attack to be the work of a possible serial rapist. But as the investigation of another attack believed to have been committed by the same man begins to reveal some oddities, attention is re-focused on both sets of grief-stricken husbands and recovering wives, who may or not be who they claim to be.
