This was because Mischa had only recently had her ears pierced for the very first time, and had been told that for the first few months she could only wear stud-style earrings as ones on thin wire hooks could damage the holes in her earlobes if she wore them too soon. As the ones provided for her by the costume department were on thin wire hooks, Mischa had to request that they be changed onto stud-style "post" fittings so that she could wear them.
