Ian Blackpoole confronts Nate with a gun and demands to know where the missing items are. While Sterling clears the room and Maggie looks on, Nate asks if Blackpoole wants to kill him.
Three Days Earlier
Blackpoole introduces Jim Sterling, the new Vice President of IYS, to his board of directors.
At the Blackpoole Wing of the museum, Sophie slips in and takes photos of the layout. Parker times the guards and takes note.
Sterling tells the board that they will start using their technology to secure clients' insured items, and that the Blackpoole Wing will be the showcase of the technology. All of the paintings there belong to either Blackpoole or their high-profile clients.
Eliot takes notes, unaware that Hardison has slipped in, disguised as a worker.
Blackpoole takes Sterling to his new office, only to find Nate waiting for him.
Sophie enters the main display room at the museum, spots Maggie working on the display, and quickly backs off before she's spotted.
Blackpoole wonders what Nate is selling this time. Nate explains hat he's into theft and will be stealing the Two Davids in three days. Blackpoole refuses to call the police, noting that Nate is still blaming him for the death of Sam. Nate noted that Blackpoole's policy caused Sam's death and the death of many others.
Sophie discovers Parker and they both wonder why the other one is doing there. Hardison comes out of an electronics closet and spots Eliot, and they argue about who should be there.
Nate suggests that Blackpoole resign as CEO and donate all his money to charity, and in return Nate won't rob the museum. Disgusted, Blackpoole walks out and Nate informs Sterling that he'll be seeing him.
The guards spot Hardison, Parker and Sophie spot Eliot and Hardison, and Maggie spots Sophie. Eliot takes down Hardison for the guards, while Sophie feigns ignorance of Maggie and tries to get out. Parker flees before the guards can catch her, while Eliot pretends to be a security guard and escorts Hardison out. Parker catches up to Sophie and they quickly get out of the museum, only to run into more guards. Hardison and Eliot join them and they all run for it... as Nate pulls up and provides a getaway cover.
Hardison takes them to his new safe house: M.C. Hammer's manor, foreclosed by the IRS. As they look around, Sophie points out to Nate that they're a mess. Nate explains that he figured they'd try to case the joint and he knew all about them from when he chased them. They wonder if Sophie is still with them since she conned them on the Second David three months earlier when they split up. Everyone argues until Nate breaks them up and gets them back on track. The Two Davis are under glass, monitored for temperature and humanity, and guarded by motion sensors. Everyone pools their knowledge, and Nate asks why they came back when the plan was to wait six months. They all have their reasons, and Nate suggests that if they pool their resources, they can break Blackpoole and humiliate Sterling. Nate admits he told Sterling that they're coming, and he's expecting him to overreact.
Later, the team plans to overcome the new security measures, and Nate points out that the air ventilation system is the weakness. It passes through a hollow base in the statues, and beneath the base is the restoration room. They need someone on the inside but Sterling knows everyone's faces. Parker and Sophie suggest Maggie, and Hardison suggests that Eliot feel out Maggie under his identity of Professor Adam Sinclair. Nate isn't happy until Parker asks what his other plan is, and he admits he doesn't have one.
Maggie arrives at the museum with the museum director, Dr. Darien Lloyd. Blackpoole informs Lloyd that Sterling will be taking over the security, and Sterling installs metal shutters to close off the display room. As Lloyd protests, Eliot calls Maggie and sets up a coffee date, and Nate is less than thrilled. At the café, Maggie flirts with Eliot while the others watch from the van. Nate listens as Maggie complains about her ex-husband, and then thanks Eliot for giving her the chance to date. She then admits that she recognizes the button camera that Nate is using to monitor the date, and confronts him and the others in the van.
At the manor, Eliot complains that he feels used, while Maggie accuses Nate of lying to her and storms out. Nate catches up to her and explains that he and the team help people. Maggie wonders what's happened and why he's going after Blackpoole now, and Nate finally tells her that Blackpoole denied the treatment for Sam. Maggie is furious that Nate didn't tell her, and he admits he didn't want her to hate him the way that he does. They remember watching Sam die in Nate's arms as the doctors try to revive the boy. Nate apologizes and they embrace.
Sterling's man Geary traces Eliot's cell phone number and informs Sterling that he called Maggie.
Nate goes over the plan with the team and Maggie, and there's only one thing she can get into the restoration room that's large enough. She warns them that they have to convince Dr. Lloyd, and the team assures her it won't be a problem. Maggie goes in with an earbud while Parker switches Lloyd's allergy medication for drugs mixed with speed. With some direction from Sophie, Maggie convinces Lloyd to go to the Egyptian room where Sophie is lurking. They are unaware that Sterling is watching and has spotted Parker, and has his men watching him.
Sophie greets the coughing Lloyd in the Egyptian Room and introduces herself as an Egyptian museum curator. She starts talking about the curse of the sarcophagus she's there to have him verify, and then leaves. Lloyd checks the files on the sarcophagus and finds Hardison's planted stories about people dying from the curse. Maggie then comes in and discusses the curse, and says it's just a fungus with symptoms like what Lloyd has. Lloyd promptly has the sarcophagus sealed up and moved away... and Nate, Eliot, and Hardison are the delivery men.
As they prepare at the manor, Sophie talks to Eliot, who still blames her for conning them over the theft of the Second David. Parker and Hardison come in and compare notes about Sophie's apologies to everyone. Eliot isn't happy that Sophie apologized to him last. When Sophie insists she wasn't apologizing, Eliot points out that that is the problem. She reluctantly apologies and they accept it and put up the painting.
Maggie is in the gallery setting up as Sterling watches her. Later, Blackpoole arrives with the press to present the Two Davids. Sterling is reviewing security measures when he spots Nathan walking openly into the museum. Blackpoole lets him come in, telling Sterling if they catch him in the act then they can put him away for 20 years. Sterling assigns men to watch Nate while he reviews the security footage of Lloyd and Maggie talking. Lloyd admits he moved the mummy.
In the gallery, Nate watches as Sterling and his men go to find the mummy. It's in the restoration room, directly under the Two Davids and out of the cameras' line of sight. He figures someone is in the sarcophagus and opens it up, but there's nothing inside but a mummy. The alarms go off and Sterling runs upstairs to where the ventilation in the case for the Two Davids is emitting smoke. Nate sends a signal to the team and then leaves the gallery.
Lloyd arrives and insists they have to evacuate the museum because an unknown gas attack triggers Homeland Security protocols. When the guests hear mention of a gas attack, they panic. Sterling has no choice but to evacuate the personnel, even though they can't see the Davids inside the case. As Sterling goes out to the lobby, he discovers that Parker, disguised as a coat check girl, has given fake Davids to all of the patrons.
In the electric closet, Hardison accesses the system and locks the doors.
Outside, Sterling and his men try to collect all the David statutes. Sterling realizes that Hardison has locked them out. Geary gets an alarm that Nate is coming in through the roof. He gets there just as Nate drops down into the gallery and meets with the others. However, the gallery doors and windows close automatically. Nate tells the team to get to work.
Blackpoole, Sterling, and Maggie finally get in and go to the gallery with the other guests. They find Nate waiting for them, and the Two Davis in their case. Nate explains that the whole point was for Sterling to chase him around. He counts down from three and the lights come up: every other piece of art is missing. Blackpoole refuses to call the police, since the paintings were all loaned to him and they're his responsibility. Sterling congratulates Nate, who explains that the stolen masterpieces were worth $150 million. Blackpoole grabs a gun and aims it at Nate, and Geary clears the room.
Nate tells Sterling that every single painting will be returned to IYS once Blackpoole is stripped of his position and funds, and his policy of denying claims is eliminated. Nate plays back a recording of the conversation he had with Blackpoole refusing to call the police when Nate warned that there was going to be a theft. When the owners realize that Blackpoole knew about the theft and didn't call the police, they'll sue IYS. Sterling has to give up Blackpoole to save the company and himself. When Blackpoole objects, Nate points out his own policy of keeping emotions out of decisions. Blackpoole runs to Maggie and asks for understanding, and she punches him. Blackpoole agrees to the deal and Sterling walks away.
Maggie and Nate talk, and she wonders if Nate will stop now. He admits he doesn't know, and then gets a call confirming that Blackpoole is out. Nate then shows her that the paintings are hidden in the restoration room beneath the chamber. The sarcophagus hid a passage they cut into the room. Maggie admits that she doesn't love the new version of Nate, but she might like him a little more.
Later, Nate thanks the team for their help in bringing down Blackpoole, and admits that they surprised him. They figure it's a good time to move on and get a fresh start, and Nate tells them that they made a difference. They split up and start to go their separate directions... and hesitate.
