The scene opens with Victor walking in to the bedroom where his younger and more attractive wife, Clara has a surprise for him. She undresses and he undresses and one thing leads another. After the „ordeal”, Clara tells Victor to stay in bed and leaves him. The next scene shows Victor being zipped up in a body bag and a distraut Clara is crying. The scene then fast forwards to 17 months later where Clara is being hounded by reporters asking questions about her deceased husband and a girl stops to ask Clara a question. Zoe, who is defending Clara in her case, asks the girl where her credentials are. She knows who put her up to asking questions. Lightman is meeting with Crosby, an attorney prosecuting Clara, and he wants Lightman to help him convict her with his talent. Zoe comes in and tells that Lightman sent a girl to question Clara so that he could see her reaction to the question on the television. Lightman tells Zoe that Crosby wants him to be his expert witness in the case. Zoe tells that she will rip Lightman apart in the courts and Lightman tells that Clara is hiding something. He tells that she is pushing out the tears and that she was left with $1.2 Billion and is not surprised to find out that she doesn’t have an alibi to claim where she was for the 40 minutes that she “can’t remember”. Zoe insults Lightman’s methods and tells that it has a large margin for error.

Lightman and his crew are delegating roles and Foster wants to know the real reason why Lightman took the case. He admits that it is for a little bit of everything. Torres and Loker are looking at the jurors and point out that many are against Clara already. Lightman asks Loker’s opinion of the whole thing and he admits that maybe Victor wasn’t growing old enough for Clara. However, Torres snaps and says that men 5 years older then their spouse are more likely to have a successful and happy marriage. Lightman picks up that she was pulling it from a memory and asks who the old guy was. She keeps that information for herself. Zoe and Lightman meet later and the trial is underway. Crosby talks about Lightman’s opinion on the stand about amnesia and who can get it. Lightman tells that killers often lie and that it is just easy to say “I don’t remember” rather then the truth. Zoe cross examines him and immediately tries to discredit him. She brings up the past marriage that they had and that his science is flawed. She gives the example of Lightman thinking that Zoe was cheating on him with her boss, who turned out to be gay. Crosby tries to object but it is overruled. Zoe is not interested in Lightman’s “theories” but Lightman blurts out that Clara has guilt written all over her face. He is escorted out of the courtroom. In the hallway, Lightman sees a man nervous about something and Foster comes out to see if Lightman has a plan. As always he does. She leaves and Lightman notices that the man is eyeing a different man in handcuffs. Lightman walks over and talks to the man. His wife was mugged by the same guy in the hall. Lightman gets under his skin and tells that it was the luck of the draw. The guy looses it and starts beating up the guy that is accused of beating up his wife. That is Lightman’s cue to go into the room where Clara is. Lightman finds out that she didn’t kill her husband and that someone else did. They talk and Clara sincerely says that she loved Victor. Zoe enters and finds Lightman and calls for an officer.
Foster is at the Lightman Group and has Damian, Victor’s son, and Leo O’ Sullivan, Leo’s right hand man, in the office. She is pointing out that when people are lying, they do certain things. She puts on a video and points out how the person is lying. She asks Leo if he murdered Victor to which Leo calmly says no to. Foster tells that he isn’t lying. Leo tells that he is cool under pressure and we find out that Clara wasn’t faithful with Victor and had an affair with Damian. Meanwhile, Lightman is in a holding cage at the courts and Zoe has the power to let him out or have him stay. Zoe starts to leave and Lightman tells that Clara is innocent. She lets him out. Back at the Lightman Group, Foster is with Damian again and she is “prepping” him for the courts. She asks Damian how Clara came on to him. He starts telling her but then freezes. Foster offers coffee to calm him down and when asked to describe the last time Damian had sex with Clara he tells it very vaguely. Lightman brings Clara in the office and tells that she is going to look at pictures of people in the courtroom. She feels contempt when seeing Damian’s picture and anger when seeing Tanya Wilson’s. Lightman goes in the room and asks Clara about the 40 minutes she “doesn’t remember”. She still doesn’t remember. He asks her if she knows who killed her husband and she replies no as well. Lightman tells that she is lying and that he can’t help her. Zoe, Lightman, and his crew go into Lightman’s office and they discuss the fact that Damian couldn’t pour his coffee when he was telling the experience of Clara and him having sex. That means that he is not telling the truth. Foster gets Damian back and tells that they have to do more “prepping” for the courts. But as they get to Lightman’s office they find Lightman and Clara kissing passionately. He explodes and calls Clara names. The two argue and Clara slaps Damian.

At the court room, Crosby tells that Lightman and him had a deal. He tells that he found that Clara is innocent. Crosby tells Lightman that he only switched sides because of Zoe and that he will not get any work from his office for a while. Lightman picks up on something from Crosby. He is hiding something. Leo takes the stand and Zoe wants to know why he hired a Private Investigator to spy on Clara. He tells that she reinvented herself but that was it. He then says that he “stumbled” upon something and the judge allows it. It turns out that Clara was stealing $90,000 a month from Victor. Lightman tells Zoe he can’t help because the jury is already going to convict her. Loker and Torres are walking down the stairs and Torres tells that Lightman did not get a proper read because he is too close with Zoe. Loker changes the subject to Torres’s experience of the older man. Torres tells, upon being pressured of the name of the guy, that her name was Denise. Meanwhile, Lightman is outside and sees Tanya. He questions to why she was scared when Leo mentioned the $90,000 that Clara stole. She tells that Clara was only helping her out. But we find out that Tanya has a sex tape and is blackmailing Clara. To avoid jail, Tanya gives the sex tape to Lightman and Clara is in the next scene telling that it was a present for Victor. She has to convince the jury that she is innocent. They feel that the real killer is Leo O’ Sullivan.

Loker is with Torres and asks if she is bisexual to make sure that his competition did not double. Torres tells that it was just an experiment. They flirt a little. Back in the courtroom, Leo is back on the stand and Zoe shows the judge pictures of the sex tape. Zoe tells Leo that he knew all along that the money was being taken and that the money taken was for a noble cause. She also tells that Leo knew that Victor’s health was not good. Crosby tries to object but the judge allows it. Leo confesses that he assisted Victor to kill himself and that he was dying of a brain disease. He left a tape for Clara that he has been holding. At the Lightman Group, Clara is watching the video and Foster tells Lightman that Leo is working out a deal for the charge of Manslaughter and Tampering with Evidence. Clara thanks Lightman and he tells that she’s got his number. Later, Lightman and Zoe are sitting at dinner together and Lightman admits that he took the case to protect Zoe. He tells her that she deserves respect. Zoe tells that Emily is staying with a friend for the night and no one is at home. Zoe quickly gets the bill and they both go back to Zoe’s house to do “you know what”.
