Clara is meeting with business men and one of the men tells that he will pay $12.50 a share and Lightman is helping Clara out. She negotiates that it is going to be 13.00 a share and nothing less. After the meeting, Clara is happy that she only has to pay Lightman $10,000 and make millions of dollars. She wants to know how Lightman does it and to teach her. He tells that she is going to have to pay $50,000 for that and she negotiates him to $45,000. Lightman gets a call from Reynolds telling that Officer Hardy was shot but he is still alive. But he is paralyzed and cannot move or talk. He needs Lightman’s help to read his eyes. Lightman meets Reynolds and Captain James of the Police Department. The housing was a Federal Housing Unit complex and that is why the FBI are involved in a police shooting. The mission for Lightman is to read Officer Hardy’s expressions to what happened when he can’t hardly move his eyes.

In the hospital room, Mrs. Hardy and Sophie, Officer Hardy’s daughter is there. Lightman tells that Nick is happy that his wife and daughter are there. Clara takes the two girls away so that Lightman can begin questioning. Captain James and Reynolds bring in the two boys that were seen running with blood on their clothing. Lightman reads that Nick recognizes them and the boy’s lawyer says that it is not fair. At the question of who shot him, the older boy is picked out. Despite what the lawyer advices, the older boy tells that they were doing a job for a drug runner named T-Von and that they didn’t know that Nick was a cop. But back at the office, Lightman points out the Captain James that he is lying and that the boy shows pride when they tell that they didn’t know that he was a cop.

Foster comes in and says that they cannot make payroll and that Lightman needs to ask Clara to get a loan. He tells that he doesn’t want to ask clients for loans and doesn’t mix business with pleasure. Emily asks for $300 for the dance for all the items that go along with it. Lightman tells Foster to find a loan and James tells that Clara can’t go with them to the projects. Lightman tells that Clara can go with Foster to sign all the needed paperwork to go along with them and he ditches her.

Lightman goes with Reynolds and James enter the building where Hardy and Lightman picks out the apartment that they need to go to by telling the crowd of kids in the hallway that they are the cops and they are going to do strip searches. T-Von is not there and Reynolds say that
Lightman gets on the radio and tells that they have snipers around the building. T-Von tells them to be cool and that he will corroborate. James handcuffs T-Von and he tells that he was having the kids run some chewing gum and Lightman can tell that he is telling the truth about the running but not of the chewing gum. Lightman starts to check around his apartment for his “stash” and T-Von tells that he heard yelling below him and then saw the two kids running out. The disturbance call that Nick was responding to was on the 3rd floor but he got shot before he could get to the door.

The owner of the building is not comfortable opening the door of the owner of the apartment on the 3rd floor. Lightman gets a call from Clara and she is upset that he ditched her. Lightman sees a girl in the stairwell and leaves Clara on hold. Olivia, the little girl, says that Mr. Jenkins, the owner of the apartment, is dead and that Coroners carried the body out. But she tells that the Coroners had a belt like Captain James. Lightman tells that cops carry their gun in holsters not criminals. Clara is upset and wants to know where Lightman is. Reynolds and James walks through the door but Lightman is not there. Lightman is at the hospital and he is showing pictures of the officers to see if he can get a reaction to the pictures. Nick reacts to 3 officers. Lightman tells Nick’s family that he wants to say something. Lightman tells that Nick loves his wife and daughter and Lightman tells her that he reads remorse. Mrs. Hardy tells that they have been fighting. He tells that Nick loves her and Sophie. She asks what he is saying now, but he is gone. Clara asks how Lightman read remorse on Nick, but he tells that he didn’t read it on Nick, but on Mrs. Hardy.

James and Lightman are looking at the men that survey the projects and Reynolds tells that they found the body of Mr. Jenkins. The manager ID’s the man and Lightman picks up shame when he sees him. Reynolds tells that he has the authority to question the manager because his building is zoned for Section 8 housing. He gets 90% of the rent for doing what he does. Lightman sees fear at the picture of the officers. He comes clean that the cops were going to clean up the projects and that he gets 10% of the rent money and the police kept the rest. He tells that Mr. Jenkins told that he was going to go and tell unless he was cut in. Captain James shows guilt and tells that the Police Department will take over the investigation. Lightman thinks that there is more.

Lightman is in his office and gets a picture of Emily in her dress and tells that he has a “client” Emily reads that Lightman is lying. Lightman and Foster meet with board members and Lightman opens with a joke. He tells all their secrets. Foster tells that is what they do and that they can read the secrets off of everyone and they leave. Lightman and Clara meet for side pizza and Lightman wants to know what her angle is. He wants to know what she wants from the company. Lightman gets a call. It is Emily and the cops arrested Emily for drugs. Lightman arrives and it is Holander and his men who are the ones who were involved in the scam that arrested Emily. Holander tells Lightman to relax and tells that he will let his daughter go if he will back off. At the Lightman Group, Reynolds tells Captain James that the FBI are taking over the investigation and Lightman tells that James crossed the line with involving his daughter. James tries to deny that he is trying to protect his men. James tells that the people in the projects are scum and that he told Holander and his crew set an example, but he did not know he was running a scam on the side. Lightman calls him naive and Reynolds tells James to get Holander and Lightman and Reynolds will get Officer Tresler.

At the Lightman Group, Lightman meets Holander and as they pass by the rooms, Holander sees the two boys who shot Hardy. They put him in the same room with Officer Tresler. Holander is asking for a lawyer. Lightman and Reynolds enter in and gets into Tresler’s head and tells Holander that he can leave. But Holander is not going to leave. Lightman talks about Jame’s plan to clean up the projects. Lightman tells that Tresler left Hardy to bleed out and that Holander will kill Tresler next. Holander gets madder and madder and attempts to go after Tresler but Lightman punches Holander in the face. He tells Holander that he made a couple of calls and told the prison that he is coming.

Clara gives Lightman a check but it is discounted for ditching her. Foster comes in and tells that Captain James is going to get a deal but the rest are going to get life. She tells that they got a loan of 7 figures from the equity firm and Clara tells that she is happy to work with them. Foster and Lightman are shocked and Clara tells that she is the majority sole owner of the equity firm; she is part owner of the loan. She is going to turn the Lightman Group into the “cash cow” it should be. She tells Lightman that she likes to mix business with pleasure.
