The girl that was murdered was Michelle Daily. Lightman interrupts the speech at a café that Brooks is giving and tells that he wants to talk to the Governor alone at the Lightman Group. Brooks’ secretary tries to decline but Foster tells that Lightman is being discrete and that he just wants to get answers. Meanwhile at the Lightman Group, Torres and Loker are looking at videos of people threatening to kill the Governor and Loker is chatting with Emily Lightman while looking at videos. He tells that she befriended him and he couldn’t say no to the boss’s daughter. He tells that Emily is going to Music Fest and that it is a bad place for 16 year old girls should not be going to and he says that he needs to alert Lightman. Torres tells that most of Emily’s friends are people she doesn’t even know and Loker tells that he told Emily that he is going to Music Fest. Reynolds enters and tells that Dwayne Corey confessed and that his cellmate told them. He tells that Lightman told him to get Torres and Loker.

Foster and Lightman are interviewing Governor Brooks. He starts to show signs of deciete and they pick up the fear that he is showing. After they point out all the signs he is showing, he admits that he had one night where Michelle came up to him while his wife was away and they shared a cigarette together. They kissed and that Michelle wanted more then just a kiss. Lightman tells that he had sex with Michelle the night that his wife was away and he is silent, but his face tells it all. He tells that it was one of those moments. He claims that nothing happened. Trevor Addison walked in before anything happened and Trevor reassigned Michelle. Foster and Lightman speak to Clara and she tells that he didn’t cheat and that he is not a mob boss. But Foster tells that his staff has to still go under questioning.

At the jail where Dwayne is being held, he is telling that he didn’t kill the girl and that the gun was not his. He shows signs that he wants Brooks dead but he was not the one that killed Michelle. Torres believes him and sees that he is afraid of jail. They ask why he confessed. Dwayne tells that people are scared of cold blooded killers. Meanwhile, Foster is talking to Trevor and he tells that he reassigned Michelle to protect Brooks’ image. He admits to having sex with Michelle himself. Lightman asks how Dwayne got through security. Trevor leaves without answering. Back at the Lightman group, Clara is confused to the fact that Lightman things that Trevor Addison killed Michelle Daily. Lightman tells that he was intimate with Michelle and picks up that he tried it on Clara too, but she refused him. He wants to know how many women Trevor was having sex with during the campaign.

Lightman goes to the campaign office of Brooks and asks all the girls which one is sleeping with Trevor. They pick out one girl. They take her to the Lightman group and she tells that she is not part of anything and that Michelle was a nice woman. But Lightman picks up on her fear and anger despite her attempts to hide them. She admits that Michelle started drinking heavily when she started sleeping with Trevor. She got drunk and hit and killed a pedestrian. Trevor swept it under the rug and hid the story. However, Lightman picks up that there is more then just getting rid of a story, but he had to get rid of Michelle. Back in the jail, Torres tosses the gun in front of Dwayne and he shows genuine surprise. Torres tells that Dwayne may have wanted the Governor dead, but he doesn’t know the weapon that killed Michelle. Torres tells that Dwayne is just the wacko to take the fall.

At Lightman’s home, Lightman is eating and there is a knock on the door. It is Clara and Lightman offers her food and a beer. Lightman asks about Brooks’ attitude. Clara tells that Brooks is distraught and that everyone is mourning over Michelle’s death. Clara reacts to Lightman’s cooking and thinks it is too spicy. He asks if she wants another beer. At the question of whether Lightman is trying to get Clara drunk, they kiss passionately. The next morning, Lightman enters Trevor’s office and dumps plastic bottles on the table and tells that he couldn’t find a recycling bin. He tells that he knows about Michelle’s hit and run. Trevor tells that he is paid to protect the Governor. He tells that he didn’t want Michelle to spend her youth in jail and that he covered it up. He tells that he will let Michelle tell what happened. They find out what Trevor meant by letting Michelle tell what happened while Foster and Lightman see the video of Michelle and they find out that she is telling the false story because there is not remorse or sadness.

Emily enters Loker’s office and talks about Music Fest. She tells that she is excited for it. She tries to have him listen to a band but Loker tells that when she goes to Music Fest, she needs to avoid certain friends on her friends list because they are bringing drugs there. Emily tells that she doesn’t know those kids and that she can pick up that he cares about her. Emily tells that she will be careful and kisses him. He backs away and tells that he was only sending messages back to Emily to be polite. She is insulted and runs off. Meanwhile, Lightman, Foster and Clara meet with Mrs. Brooks and she tells that Lightman is “throwing darts in the dark” when he tells that he knows about the hit and run. Clara tries to tell that Mrs. Brooks was with her and Lightman picks up on her lies. Clara tells that she spilled Red Wine and that is a lie too. Outside Lightman feels that Clara and Mrs. Brooks are hiding something and Foster tells that she picked up on the fact that Lightman had sex with Clara. Lightman admits to it and tells that he had fun.

At the Lightman Group, Lightman and Foster are talking about the possibilities that Clara was the one that hit the man in the hit and run. Loker comes up to Lightman and tells that he befriended Emily on a site and that there were drugs and friends and he stumbles to get the words out. Loker tells that Emily kissed him. Lightman takes him into his office and accuses Loker of kissing his daughter. Loker tells that he didn’t kiss her but Lightman doesn’t believe him and punches him in the stomach. He gets a phone call and leaves. Foster and Reynolds are at Trevor’s place and Lightman comes in. Trevor is in the bathtub with his wrists slit. Reynolds shows a suicide note but Lightman tells that Trevor was not the suicide type. Foster tells that they need to find out who wrote the suicide note.

At the Lightman Group, Foster is comparing the letter with the software and Reynolds comes in and asks how she can tell who wrote it when it was typed. It is all about the passive voice and pronouns that are used. Women tend to use pronouns when typing instead of naming the actual person. The letter was written by a woman impressed with power. In Lightman’s office, Lightman shows the picture of Trevor. He tells that he hopes that Clara doesn’t know too much not to get herself killed. He tells that Mrs. Brooks was never in the car with her and Clara tells that it was Mrs. Brooks that killed the man. Reynolds and Foster enter and tell that the note was written by a woman. Lightman tells that he wants his firm back from Clara for lying to him. He tells that if Clara will show loyalty to him, then he will give her a second chance but she has to shake on it. She holds out her hand.

Lightman, Foster and Clara meet with Governor Brooks and his wife and Clara tells that she is not going to lie for them anymore. She tells that she knew of the hit and run and Lightman tells that Trevor was killed because he was involved in the cover-up. Foster tells that the suicide note was written by a woman. Mrs. Brooks tells that she was with Clara and Lightman picks up that Governor Brooks doesn’t believe that. They tell that Mrs. Brooks hit the man. Governor Brooks asks his wife if there is any truth in it. She tells that she had to in order to keep everything together. Governor Brooks wants to make things right and Lightman tells that he can step down from office and tells that his “public” are waiting. Governor Brooks takes his wife’s hand and they are all smiles for the cameras.

Back at the Lightman Group, Clara signs her share of the Lightman Group back over to Lightman and Foster and they tell that it was good doing business with her. Later at Lightman’s home, Emily and Lightman have ice-cream and she tells that she knows that he punched Loker. There is a knock on the door. It is Loker and Emily tells Lightman to apologize to him. He says that he is sorry and offers him to come in for a beer. Lightman asks what Emily would have done if he didn’t apologize. She punches him in the stomach.
