The scene opens with two masked gunmen entering a barbecue place where a woman named Kira says that Uncle Teddy is working. They rob the place. Meanwhile, Lightman is playing online poker and Emily catches him. He is supposed to be writing his book. Detective Wallowsky comes in and tells that Kira was killed. Jimmy, the owner of the restruant is dying of cancer and Wallowsky tells that he is an old friend of his. She tells that she has arrested Jimmy’s sons Marcus and Rudy before and Jimmy tells that he wants answers. Wallowsky gives Lightman the surveillance videos of the night. When Lightman gets to the Lightman Group, he tells Foster that they’re doing the case as a favor to Wallowsky. He watches the DVD of the security cameras. He tells that the murder of Kira was intentional.

Lightman tells Torres and Loker to start interviewing the disgrunteled employees of Jimmy. However, when they interview them, they all have alibis that check out. Wallowsky and Lightman go to question Teddy, Jimmy’s best friend and “seasoned” employee. They ask him about Kira, Marcus and Rudy. Lightman tells that Teddy knew the killers, but did not inform the police about it and tells that Teddy and Jimmy were not the best of friends as they pretend to be. Lightman and Wallowsky then go to Jimmy and ask about his own relationship with his two sons. Back at the Lightman Group, Macus, a dental hygienist, and an unemployed Rudy are brought in and Lightman and Wallowsky watch the interaction. Marcus tells that Kira is dead and that he’s an uncle. They both tell each other that they have not seen Kira for many years. Lightman enters and notices that Marcus is deaf in one ear. It is because Rudy hit him with a bottle when they stole the deposit of the restaurant’s take. That is why Jimmy cut them out of the will. Marcus says that Rudy killed Kira amd they start fighting. Wallowsky comes in and takes Rudy out of there.

Alone with Marcus, Lightman tells that Marcus is not telling the truth about not having seen Kira. However, Wallowsky comes in and tells that police found a hooker who tells that her meth-head boyfriend said that he killed Kira. Lightman finds out that the police have the gun. Wallowsky tells that the ballistics came back with a match to the bullet in Kira's head. Lightman and Wallowsky interview Eddie and Nick, the two suspected of killing Kira. Lightman believes that Nick is blaming the murder on Eddie saying that Eddie was too high to remember what happned. Lightman shows Eddie photos and tells that there was only $1,500 in the register. Eddie tells that they were hired to kill Kira. When they show Marcus’s photo, they don’t recognize him as the person who hired them. Nick on the other hand, tells that he wants a lawyer.

Lightman and Foster meet up with Marcus. Lightman is aggressive and tells that Marcus killed Kira so that he and Rudy could get the restaurant. Foster takes the empathetic approach and tells that she lost a brother in a car accident and knows how he feels. Marcus opens up to Foster and tells that when he saw Kira last time, she told him that he needs to patch things up with Jimmy. Marcus tells that he thought that people would think that he had fought with his sister. He tells that he told Kira that Rudy was a lost cause. Lightman invites Rudy into the conversation and he has heard the entire conversation. He invites Teddy into it as well. Foster sees that the brothers are making up and are not that concerned in finding the killer of Kira and just want to make up. Wallowsky asks Teddy to look at a line up. However, he cannot identify the killers, but Lightman sees that Nick recognizes Teddy. Lightman tells that Teddy was the one who hired Nick and Eddie to Kira and trying to blame Marcus and Rudy. Teddy tells that it is a lie and Foster believes him. Lightman doesn’t believe him though.

Lightman visits Jimmy again. He is upset that Lightman accused his sons of killing Kira. He is even more upset that Lightman is now accusing his best friend of killing Kira. Lightman tells that Jimmy told Teddy to frame his sons. Lightman tells that he can fess up to it or die with his eyes open. At the restaurant, Wallowsky apologizes to Teddy. He gets a call that Jimmy has went unconscious. Lightman tells that it was Kira’s death that broke Jimmy’s desire to live. Back at the restaurant, Wallowsky is apologizing to Teddy, who gets a call that Jimmy has lapsed into unconsciousness. Cal says that Kira's death broke Jimmy's will to live and Teddy should know this. Wallowsky takes Teddy to the bedside of Jimmy at the hospital. She tells that Jimmy changed his will, leaving Teddy the owner of the resturaunt and power of attorney. She tells that he needs to decide to pull the plug or not. Teddy picks the pen up ready to sign.

Lightman comes in and tells that cancer is killing Jimmy and not Kira’s death. However, it is killing Teddy by him hating the fact that Jimmy loved Kira and was afraid that Jimmy didn’t want him to have the restaurant. The reason why Teddy was unreadable was because he was angry with Lightman and it was overtaking his grief over Kira’s death. However, when Teddy picked up the pen, it proved it. Teddy tries to deny it, but Jimmy wakes up and tells that Wallowsky is wrong about the wishes he wants for Teddy. Jimmy gets angry with Teddy and Teddy tries to say that he didn’t want Kira dead. Lightman tells that is only half true. Wallowsky takes Teddy into custody. Back at home, Emily orders Lightman to start working on his book and he agrees. The episode ends.
