The scene opens with a woman driving a Jeep. Her name is Nicole Bradin and she has her brother, Marcus, with her who has a bag full of hashish. Suddenly Yemen soldiers drive near them and block their path. They tell the couple to get out of the car and they search the car. They find the drugs inside and arrest the two Americans. Later, Foster and Loker meet with U.S. State official Peters. He shows them along with the parents of Nicole and Marcus, the tape that they have from the soldiers. Peters says that he called the Lightman Group into it to see which of the soldiers is serious so that they can get them released. Lightman and Torres are elsewhere visiting Lightman’s old friend, Dr. Jeffrey Buchanan. He now works as consultant for a company called Ribocore. He says that someone stole the formula for the new insulin pill, Priox. It is a knockoff version. He says that the major side effects are that it is causing strokes.

Lightman talks to three chemists who were the only ones to have access to the lab and Lightman lies about finding a fingerprint. He suspects that A’isha Walker is the thief because she was the one who submitted the fingerprints. However, she says that she didn’t steal them. She says that a study proved that Priox is the one causing the strokes. Jeffrey doesn’t pay attention to what Lightman says, but says that he will look into the story that A’isha gave. Meanwhile, Foster visits her husband, Alec, at the State Department. His assistant says that he is out to lunch. Foster and Eli listen in on the negotiations with the Ambassadors and Foster tells Peters that he needs to be dealing directly with Deputy Ambassador Rafid. He was the last to enter the room. She says that this is a sign of status. Foster also notices that Peters is more concerned on getting Nicole out of there. Later, Torres sees that the body language that Foster and Alec are portraying is suspicious. Lightman tells her to leave it alone. She also suspects that Jeffrey is not being honest with her and Lightman. However, he says that he trusts him. They watch the television and see that A’isha was arrested for industrial espionage. Jeffrey says that it was Erica Vandeman who did this. She is the CEO of Ribocore and he says that someone wired A’isha $500,000 right before the break-in. He says that she is trying to cover it up.
Lightman talks to A’isha and says that she isn’t lying about giving the Priox formula and says that if they go to Neeman Labs, they will see what she was doing. Once there, an official tells Lightman that it is true and that Ribocore fired them because they wouldn’t clear the drug. He says that science and business don’t mix. Lightman steps in with Foster’s case and watches the tape of Nicole and Marcus. He says that Nicole is intentionally slurring her words because it is military code to say that she hasn’t broken. The father of Nicole and Marcus say that Nicole is a U.S. Agent. Foster goes up to Peters and asks why he didn’t tell them. Peters says that he is not going to trade missiles for the release of Marcus even though they have proof that he has been tortured. Peters says that Nicole is important whereas Marcus, is not. Later, Lightman and Torres go to Erica and tell her that pharmaceutical records have been questioning what happens in Ribocore’s labs. Lightman sees her bite her lip, which is a form of deception. They go to the FDA and learn that Jeffrey is on Ribicore’s payroll.

Later, Lightman tells Foster that he doesn’t want to believe that Jeffrey is guilty and says that he has been a great friend when Lightman needed him most after the death of his mother. Torres comes in and shows a video of Erica telling that Priox is to be arriving and that every time she mentions a study that was researched, she bites her lip. She points out that Jeffrey looks down and away, also a sign of guilt and regret. Lightman talks to Jeffrey about it and he admits having an affair with Erica. He says that he had no idea that she manipulated the study. Lightman tells him to stay away from Erica because she is going off to jail. Foster and Loker concentrate on their case and watch Rafid trying to be tough. His plan is to be a leader in this. Just hours before the execution of Marcus, Peters offers Rafid a new deal that gives both Nicole and Marcus their freedom and in return, they will give in to their non-military demands. He offers him a deal to sit next to President Obama. He accepts the deal that is made. Lightman, FDA and FBI agents watch and listen to Jeffrey and Erica talking. She denies manipulating the study. However, Jeffrey says that Priox has no side effects on the study, bit it is not true. Erica says that if she had postponed the launch of it, they would have been bankrupted. She admits to manipulating the results and she is arrested.

Lightman goes up to Jeffrey and says that he told him to stay away. He tells Jeffrey that he would have lied for him, bit Jeffrey only says that he wishes he could believe that. Back at the Lightman Group, Lightman and Foster talk about their cases and Lightman says that he got Jeffrey out of jail and saved his reputation. Alec calls Foster and says that he has to work late tonight. She says that it is alright. She asks Lightman if he wants to get dinner, but Lightman says that he will another time. They go their separate ways. The episode ends with Lightman watching Alec getting into a car and hugging an attractive young blonde girl.
