Parents Unemployed - Recap

The scene opens with Ryan getting ready to go to work and Lux is getting ready for school. Baze is getting up for another day of unemployment as well. Paige gets up and walks into the kitchen and tells tha Cate doesn’t have to be up because she is unemployed now. She tells that she has to do something. Baze walks in and finds Lux and tells her to get going. He looks at Cate and is wondering why she is awake because of the recent loss of her job on the radio show. Baze is there to pick Lux up and take her to school and tells that he has an interview for a company because he has to be able to pay his bills if he is going to be able to get the bar back up and running. Baze notices that Lux is dolled up as well and asks why she is all dressed up she tells that she is always dressed up. Before getting out of the car, Lux tells Baze tha the has a beer stain on his tie. At school, Lux walks into Eric Daniel’s calls and he is buttoning up his shirt. He tells that his friend doesn’t have a closet for him so he has to bring his clothes everywhere. Math walks and asks why Lux is in Mr. Daniel’s class and he tells that he was just giving her a copy of Great Expectations. Math tells that she could go to him and that he has it too. She leaves with Math to her class.

Cate meets with her agent and he tells her that Seattle is really interested in Cate and that they are willing to hir her. She tells that she wants something local and that is final. She tells that he is her agent and he is supposed to find the work. He tells that producing is good. She tells that she is not going to produce for the same company that fired her. She gets a call from Lux’s principal and has to leave. They arrive at the school and she tells that Lux is failing out of school. Cate wonders how it is possible becuase this is the first time they have heard about it. She tells them that they have been sending out progress reports, but Lux has been signing them instead of Cate or Baze. Lux leaves and the principal talks to them privately. She asks if the parents could be more active in the school and talks about doing a public appearance to Career Day and give some tips on a career. Outside, Baze tells that he knows nothing on Public speaking and that she is going to have to do it. Lux tells that they don’t have to do it at all. Cate tells that they are going to study hard to get an A on the midterm paper. Baze looks at his watch and tells that he has to get to his interview.

At the building where Baze is going to have the interview, he is on the phone with the insurance company that is handling the payout. He tells that a woman named Paige did it and that he doesn’t want to have to wait for the money much longer. He gets off and tells that he is waiting for someone. That “someone” is standing next to him. He sits on the interview and she tells that his resume is horrible and that he is unprepared for the interview. That night Cate is helping Lux study and she tells that she is smart, but Lux tells that she will never get it. Cate tells that she can get anything she wants. Ryan arrives home and Lux tells that she will go study at Baze’s to give them some space. However, Cate is mad at Ryan for offering the job as a producer and making her feel worthless. Meanwhile, Lux studies in the apartment of Baze and Math enters with Eric. He tells that the place is for rent and that he will have his own place. Eric likes the idea until he sees that Lux stays there from time to time. Math asks Lux when Baze was going to be home and she tells that she doesn’t know. Eric thanks Math for showing the apartment, but tells him that he will have to think about it. Lux runs outside to meet Eric and she asks what his issue is. He tells that she lied to him because she was working at a bar, wearing an engagement ring and looked older. She tells that she is 16. Eric tells that he is 23. He tells that he didn’t feel anything when he was with her despite what she felt. Baze walks out to see Math eating cereal and he tells that the insurance company isn’t covering any damages made.

Cate meets with a different radio station and they tell that they love her. She is happy to hear that and asks when she can start. They tell that she would be perfect for the 2am-6am slot. She tries to fight for the morning spot and they tell that they have it covered. Meanwhile, Baze goes up to Emma from the interview at the gym and she reiterates that Baze’s resume was bad and that it wasn’t the best one. Baze tells that he would be perfect with people. He tells that he ran a bar before there was fire. She replies that he doesn’t know what they want. Ryan arrives home and sees Cate on the floor scrubbing. She tells that she had an interview and she would get the job, but then she wouldn’t be able to have sex with Ryan. He is all for her not taking that. They start arguing and Lux tells that she is going out.

Career Day comes and Baze and Cate are not happy to be there. Lux walks up to Eric and is upset that he is not talking to her at all and they walk out into the hallway. Lux talks about how he leads her on and it is hard for her. Realizing that they are not alone, Eric says that they should be. Meanwhile inside, Cate gives her “motivational” speech and she is fumbling through the speech. Suddenly Ryan comes up and saves her. He tells that he loved working with her on Cate and Ryan, but there were things that he had to do to make things right. The speech goes well. Back with Lux and Eric, Lux tells that she had an amazing time with him that one night and tells that she knows that everything that happened was real. He admits that there was something there and holds her hand. They are interrupted by Baze who tells that Lux missed a motivational speech from her mother. He tells that she said things that were really good and how it is never good to cheat herself. Ryan sits with Cate and says that he is sorry about not quitting with Cate. He was thinking of Lux and Cate and how he couldn’t afford to lose it. He wishes that he would be called in on the parent stuff and tells that Cate should take the job offer of producer. He tells that he can live with her, but not without her. She agrees.

Later that evening, Lux is studying and finds Math’s bag and takes a picture of the answer sheets of the midterm test. The next morning, Baze goes to the gym and meets Emma again. This time he is in a suit and tie. He tells that he is perfect for a job in the firm because he is a hard worker. She is listening. Later that night, Baze goes to Cate’s and Paige answers the door. He tells that he has been looking all over for her. Cate asks what Baze wants and he gives Lux’s results on the test. It is a 95%. She can stay in the school. They celebrate with Champagne and Lux doesn’t seem as enthusiastic as everyone else though.
