Music Faced - Recap

The scene opens with Ryan and Cate getting “busy”. Baze calls from the living room and Ryan tells Cate that he’ll be in the shower. Cate takes another birth control pill and goes out to the living room. Baze is there to pick up Lux and she gives tickets and VIP passes to the concert. Cate’s mom comes in bearing sex toys and other gifts and tells that she can’t believe that she is going to be a grandma. Lux and Baze are shocked of the news. Cate tells that she is not pregnant. Her mom tells that they are trying though. Baze and Lux walk out stunned. Baze, Lux and Tasha arrive at the school and Tasha tells Lux that she needs to get a date and she tells that would be fun but she will pass. Baze agrees with Tasha and tells that Lux should move on. Lux brings up the fact that Baze hasn’t moved on from Cate and he tells that everyone is going to get dates and prove that they can move on.

Lux is getting tutored by Eric Daniels and she tells that Cate is trying to have a baby. He tells that she should be alright with it. The bell rings and Lux tells that she has tickets to the K100 Concert and asks Eric on a date. Eric tells that he has a date already to the concert. At Cate’s house, Cate tells that she is not happy to have a baby with Ryan. She tells that she is still taking the pill. She tells that Ryan will leave if he knows that she doesn’t want a baby. Her mom tells that if he finds out, then he will be gone. At the office, Baze asks a copy girl out to the concert and she accepts. However, Emma tells that she is going with Baze. She tells that Mia Catalano is going to be there along with her manager Haley Scott. She wants to sign Haley with their company and he has the tickets to go.

Later at the K100 Concert, Ryan kicks things off by introducing Mia Catalano to the stage. Baze is at the concert already and Paige shows up with Lux and Tasha with Lux in a new outfit. Paige tells that she gave Lux a makeover. Tasha asks Lux who she got all dressed up for and she ignores the question. Tasha tries to chastise Baze for not having a date and he tells that he has a date, she is just waiting outside right now. Meanwhile, Cate talks with Haley Scott backstage and Haley tells that she convinced Mia to take the show on the road solo. She tells that she has a 7 year old daughter that she had right out of high school by a man named Nathan and Cate tells she was pregnant by a man named Nate. Haley tells that she is pregnant with her second and Cate tells that she and Ryan are trying. Meanwhile, Baze is trying to get backstage to let Emma talk to Mia, but the security tells that Baze is not on the list. He tells Emma that he has another plan.

Mia gets done singing and invites Haley on stage. She is nervous but Cate tells that it was Mia’s idea. She sings a familiar song and in the crowd, Lux finds Eric. However, Paige recognizes him to and she runs up to him. Paige is Eric’s “date” that he told Lux he had. She is upset and walks off. Cate tells that one band canceled and they need to find a replacement one. Ryan tells that he’ll get her phone. Ryan turns around with Cate’s purse and shows the pills. Lux is in the stands glaring at Eric and Paige. Tasha tries to get Lux to have a good time, but she doesn’t want anything to do with it. Jones tells that he is going to get something to drink and leaves. Emma and Baze walk around in concert jail for trying to jump the fence. Baze is upset because his date is waiting outside still. Lux is walking off and Eric comes up and tells that he was trying to move on and suggests that Jones and she should get together. She tells that Jones doesn’t get her and Eric tells that Lux is picking the wrong guy by choosing him. Choosing Jones is breaking the cycle.

In the van, Cate tells that she doesn’t want kids with Ryan because of many reasons that Ryan doesn’t feel are good reasons. He tells that if she doesn’t have a good enough reason to wait to have kids, then he doesn’t have a reason to be married to her and leaves. Meanwhile, Jones tells that he came to the concert because Tasha asks him and he is tired of waiting around for Lux. They kiss and Lux walks up and catches them. Tasha tells that Jones came for her and Lux tells that she didn’t expect to find them kissing. Tasha tells that Lux has it all and Tasha doesn’t. Rain Perry performs singing the theme song to Life Unexpected and meanwhile, Susie texts that she is leaving and Baze’s date is canceled. Emma and Baze talk about the fact that Ryan and Cate are trying to have a kid together and asks if he is crazy to think that Cate and him are meant to be. Emma tells that she waited and it never happened for her. She tells that moving on is the best thing he should do.

Cate asks her mom if she has seen Lux and Cate gets upset that her mom is worthless and that she is shouldn’t act excited for a grandchild when she wasn’t excited about Lux. Cate tries to blame her for making her give up Lux and her mom tells that Cate didn’t want Lux just as much as she didn’t want Cate. However, she kept Cate rather then give her up. Backstage, Cate tells Haley that she has a husband that hates her, a lost kid and a mom that hates her. Haley tells that she can’t help with the problems of the mom, but she tells that her mom wants the best for Cate and solves her band problem. Sarah McLachlan performs and Cate and Ryan look at each other and Ryan walks off. In concert jail, Emma and Baze talk and the security tells that they can go. Cate goes up to her mom and her mom tells that Lux is alright. Cate thanks her and she apologizes for treating her mom like she did. Cate tells that Lux had to go through life without her and her mom tells that Lux will be alright and Cate will get a second chance to be a good mom and be a good mom now. Lux comes up and she tells that she and Tasha got into a fight and cries on her shoulder.

Later that evening, Cate goes out on the patio where Ryan is. She tells that she didn’t want to have a baby because she didn’t want to be a bad mom again and she is afraid that she will let someone down. She tells that she is going to talk to her and she tells that she wants to be with Ryan. She goes upstairs in the morning and greats Lux with pancakes. She tells that she will always be there for Lux no matter what. She feels happier and tells that Baze is not happy with it either. Cate visits Baze and he tells that the concert was great. They talk about the baby and she tells that nothing is going to change with Lux and them. He tells that it has already and it is a good thing. He tells that he felt a spark yesterday and the news of Cate moving on helped him out a lot. They toast to moving on and the episode ends.
