Can't wait for this. This has to be the best thing to grace television in the past 10 years or so.
Post your thoughts once the episode has aired. |

What a fantastic ending to the series. I'm glad all the loose ends were tied up and I'm glad Sam returned to the past to save Annie. As soon as he was standing on the roof in the present I knew he would jump off so he could return to the past. |

Yeah, ended as I hoped. Sam jumping off the building, I expected and I liked him going back to save Annie, Gene, Ray and Chris. And it finished well with him getting together with Annie.
I always knew that he was really from the future. Because although Morgan was trying to convince him, Sam was from 1973 and was undercover - Sam still knew about things from the future. So he had to be from the future. It was just a matter of why he was in the past.
It left the opportunity for another series at some point aswell. Although I don't think that will happen especially with the Ashes to Ashes spinoff due next year.
I'm gonna miss this, it has been my absolute favourite programme in a very long time. |

Loved the finale, it was the best drama in years in my opinion! Shame it had to go up against the football. But I could watch both in the end.
Hey I'm back, how are things Liam and Ben? |

I'm good thanks.
The new series set in the 80's next year should be good too. |

Right, it really confused me.
Ok so he was in a coma, so everything which he experienced in the 70's was all in his head. So when he gets out of his coma he kills himself so that he can go back inside his head?
I mean What?! |

Yeah and when he was talking to Nelson, Nelson said that you are only alive if you can feel. And when he returned to 2007 and was in that meeting, he couldn't feel the cut he was making. So he basically decided to return to 1973 which he could because the doctor said that the tumour was still there but it was benign therefore, it wasn't a problem but he still had the ability to go back to 1973.
Also, he was always going to be from 2007 because he was talking about Tony Blair in one of the earlier episodes. If he wasn't from 2007, how would he know about the PM. |

Right yeah I get how he was in the 70's, but what he experiences there isn't real, yeah he may be able to feel, but all he has done has locked himself back inside his own mind.
I get how it works, I just don't see why he would do it |

Yeah, I understand what you mean. I guess, he just wasn't happy in the present day. |

For me, the finale was interpretive. It's perfectly easy to say what you see and accept it as it is, but I looked into the finale a little deeper.
Given what most of what we know about organizations like the Illuminati, it's not that hard to consider that M.A.R.S may have been an organization trying to modernize the police department at the time, hence why Morgan and Sam had the abilitiy to work using for then, unconventional means.
Sam has his concussion, and the result of it sees him suffering from exactly what Morgan tells him..that he is Sam Williams, that he was, prior to his accident, working towards a future where M.A.R.S work has culminated in a soulless, slowed and slurred crime prevention unit, for Sam Williams, the result of the concussion and the prospect of his own fears coming to fruition forces him to repress his duties to Morgan and return to a more conventional method of crime prevention
As the concussion subsides, the more Sam remembers M.A.R.S, and when Morgan reveals the truth, Williams mind spins it into thinking he's woke up from his coma, but since he can't feel anything, he knows this isn't real and chooses to live his life freed from his cover and obligations, and save Gene and the others. Traces of the concussion and the revelations still linger, but by this point, Sam doesn't care, and neither should the audience. Live free of your problems
As for the "Tony Blair" argument, if M.A.R.S was trying to put things in place to "improve" the PD, they could have also been behind modern improvments to the Prime Minister's office, and thought that Blair would make a viable candidate in the 1990's.
Both sides of the story have plausible reason to exist, and I pick the second, less obvious choice. |
