• Little People, Big World Loses a Cast Member

Mike Detjan, the long-time family friend of the Rolloff's, died back in July, 2008 at the age of 60. While in a meeting, Mike was rushed to a hospital when it was believed he was suffering a heart attack. Tests revealed that he instead had suffered a torn aorta, and required an operation which was to last 5 hours. But Mike never made it through the operation and died unexpectedly. Mike was seen on nearly every episode where he helped the family on their farm, coached the boys soccer team, and even suffered an injury when the families pumpkin catapult hit him in the head along with the Rollof's youngest son, Jacob. The family pays tribute to Mike in 2 episodes tonight at 8 PM on TLC.
