  Episode Quotes
(Jack sees Virgin Mary statues in the armoury)
Locke: Oh, I had to take them from Charlie. His heroin stash. I figured it might have therapeutic value if it ever came to that.
Jack: Just gonna leave it all in the statues?
Locke: You wanna break seven Virgin Marys? Be my guest, I'm superstitious.

Locke: I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you're asking me because you're worried that I might fall off a cliff or something. That it would be irresponsible for just one of us to have access to this room rather than this being an issue of trust.
Jack: Well, there are a lot of cliffs on this island, John.

Sawyer: (to Charlie) Well, well. Now look who had to relocate to the suburbs! Ain't that just like a woman? She keeps the house, you get the cheap ass apartment! Man, I thought these people hated me but I gotta hand it to ya - stealin' the baby, tryin' to drown it - now that's a new low. Even made Locke take a swing at ya. Hell, that's like getting Ghandi to beat his kids!

Kate: (on Sawyer's ransacked tent) I like what you've done with the place.
Sawyer: Maid's day off.

Hurley: Just tryin' to cheer you up, dude.
Sayid: I don't need cheering up.
Hurley: Okay, man. Sorry. No problem.

Cassidy: I wanna do a big one.
Sawyer: You wanna do a big what?
Cassidy: A big con.
Sawyer: It's called a long con.

Sawyer: Sun gets attacked in the jungle, you figure it's a good time to start the damn Dewey Decimal system. Good thinking.
Locke: How can I help you, James?
Sawyer: Well, actually, John. I'm here to help you, give you the heads up.
Locke: Heads up?
Sawyer: Seems Jack's on his way over here to open your little gun closet, take whatever he needs.

Gordie: You know, a tiger doesn't change its stripes, James. You're a con man, just like me.

Jack: Where's Locke?
Sawyer: I don't know. He said something about going to the store for a pack of smokes.

(Jack discovers all the guns are gone)
Sawyer: Uh oh! Looks like we got ourselves a theft! Who's gonna call the cops?

Sawyer: New sheriff in town, boys. Y'all best get used to it.

Kate: Why do you have to do this?
Sawyer: You run, I con. A tiger don't change her stripes.

  Cultural References
Sawyer: Whole camp's pretty shook about what happened to Tokyo Rose. I'm guessin' everybody's gonna wanna play cowboys and indians.

Tokyo Rose was the name coined by U.S. forces in the South Pacific during World War II, given to English-speaking female broadcasters of Japanese propaganda. Iva Toguri D'Aquino, an American citizen who was in Japan at the start of the war, is usually the one who is associated with the Tokyo Rose name.

Jack: What are you doin' here?
Sawyer: One second, like this close to the highest score on Donkey Kong.

Donkey Kong is a gorilla character created by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo and has appeared in numerous video games since 1981.
