They're currently aiming for a 5-season run... if that goes through, I really doubt we'll know alot more before the very last episode

Ah, you are so WRONG my friend. The more they reveal, the more mysteries we find. This show is too multi-dimensional and layered - it will not go downhill for quite a while. The focus of the show has changed, but they could only sit on the beach getting to know each other for so long.

Good luck Andrew, and enjoy. There may never be another show like it again. Especially since the networks are reluctant to continue any show that is not pulling big numbers, especially a show like Lost where you need to see every episode or get, well, lost!

Thanks! That's exactly why I never watched it - I didn't watch it from the start, so I thought it was pointless.

I recognize a lot of the cast members, so it's cool seeing them all together in this setting, like Maggie Grace from Taken and Dominic from LotR, among many others.

I hate Sawyer and I realize he is/becomes one of the main characters, so I expect a redemption arc in his future.

I kinda picked up stuff about LOST just by being here and from pop culture, so I know about stuff, like the mysterious numbers, the hole, the black smoke monster, the Dharma Initiative, but I have no idea what any of that means, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

Andrew, you're in for the ride of your life. There has never been or will probably ever be another show like LOST. I think it will one day be deeply rooted as part of American pop culture, and I pity the person who never experienced it. Whether you like it or not, I feel that LOST is a must see regardless.

LOST was definitely a first in that regard, and I too am skeptical whether anyone will ever take such a risk again (even just look at how much the pilot cost!) Premium networks just don't have the necessary reach, and the broadcast networks seem to be playing it more and more safe with every year. ABC did good on this one.

It was really an event, with all the Alternate Reality Games etc. I usually TiVo shows and watch them quite a while later, in batches, but LOST is one of the very few that I eagerly awaited every episode of.

For most people though it's not a question if, but at what point the show became bad. I only really disliked the sixth, final season. Trying not to give anything away, it was just very cheap, and the writers did everything they spent 5 years promising they wouldn't do.

But I'm not in the camp that ended up disliking the whole series for that. It was still a hell of a ride for 5+ years, and definitely made television history. Just because one doesn't like the final couple of hours doesn't mean that the many hours of great television that came before were wasted.
