"Welcome to Love Connection! Where old-fashioned romance meets modern-day technology, where you hear all the intimate details of a first date." This was the opening line to Love Connection, hosted by Chuck Woolery. A lucky man or woman would view three videos of potential suitors, then choose one of them to go out with on a first date.
After the date, The contestant would then appear back on the show, and the studio audience would also get to view the suitor's videos, and choose their favorite one. They would then see who the contestant actually chose, and hear the details about the date from both people's point of view. At the end of the show, the audience's pick for the contestant would be revealed, and if he audience chose a different suitor than the contestant, he or she could choose to go out with them as well.
Love Connection was an essential step in the evolution of dating shows, falling somewhere between The Dating Game, and The Bachelor.
