At the Westport nuclear processing plant, Director of Research Amy Austin gets a call from the state police about her general manager, Gerald Hillman. They inform her that his car went off the road and he died in the accident. Amy is unaware that someone is watching her from a door. She then goes to the files and checks the report she made about missing U-235, which she copied to Hillman. She then tries to call out, unaware that a figure in a protective suit has cut off the line. Amy gives up and then runs out the door as the figure comes after her. She runs through the plant and hides the file behind a pipe in the waste disposal chamber, then hides in the chamber. The figure passes by her and she runs to a phone and calls... MacGyver: The past is a strange country. You go back; it doesn't recognize you. I'd changed in ways I didn't know. And if I was a stranger, so was Amy.
MacGyver: Amy, I took physics because it was interesting, and it excited me—not to buy myself a job. Amy, come on! There's a world out there: let's go look at it! Be something different.
Amy Austin: I don't want to be different. I want a life I can count on.
Amy Austin: You always carried a pocketful of junk.
Amy Austin: And you always fixed everything.
Amy Austin: I think we oughta just run you for President or something.
MacGyver: Um, no thanks. I'd rather have this problem than his.
MacGyver: Should make a heck of a press release, eh?
Tim Wexler: Just like our college days. Never a dull moment with MacGyver.
MacGyver: So, if I can open it manually, we're home free, right?
Amy Austin: Mac, no—it'll kill you!
MacGyver: No way... I haven't paid my taxes yet.
MacGyver: A marine sergeant once started a charge by yelling at his men, "Come on, you want to live forever?" Now, I used to think that was about the guttiest thing ever said. But of course, the older you get, the more nervous you get.
Ed Train: You can't run forever, MacGyver.
MacGyver: Train, are you crazy? We've got a runaway reactor to worry about here!
Ed Train: That's what I'm trying to help you with: stop all that worrying!
MacGyver: I hate heights, and I despise guns. So how the hell did I get myself up here?
