Recap
Jack Dalton calls MacGyver from a diner and leaves a message on his answering machine saying he's in trouble in Bayonne County, Arkansas, in a town named Smiley. He says that he's in more trouble than usual and needs MacGyver's help. He says someone's coming for him and fakes a struggle, and then hangs up, figuring that'll bring MacGyver running. The local sheriff, "Bull" Bodine, comes in and Jack walks over to the counter and flirts with the waitress. Louella, and slaps her on the butt. Bodine takes offense at that and Jack continues to pursue the matter, orders a beer, and prepares to take it out of the diner. Instead Jack drinks it all and hangs the mug on Bodine's nightstick. Bodine clubs him, throws him through the window, and then arrests him for destruction of property. Jack continues to insult him and Bodine hauls him away, much to Jack's satisfaction...

Episode Quotes
Pete: Tell me I enjoyed myself, would you?
MacGyver: You enjoyed yourself.
Pete: Oh boy. Four days on a rowboat with wet pants—ugh! I've got mosquito bites on top of my mosquito bites. Thought I was going to have sunstroke. Now coming home, I smell like old bait.
MacGyver: My grandpa used to say that friendship was a two-sided coin. It can turn out to be the best, or the worst, investment you ever made. I guess whenever I flip the coin of friendship with Jack Dalton, he usually wound up in over his head, and I usually wound up covering his tail. To refuse Jack's call for help was useless; if I did I'd just end up feeling guilty the rest of my life if anything bad happened to him. And aside from guilt, there was always the curiosity factor, this time the question being, "what on Earth brought a man-about-town like Jack Dalton to Smiley, Arkansas?"
"Bull" Bodine: Don't you walk away from me, boy. That's resisting arrest.
MacGyver: What?
"Bull" Bodine: Resisting arrest. Making a public nuisance of yourself, and carrying a concealed weapon!
MacGyver: "Concealed weapon?" That's a Swiss Army knife!
Jack Dalton: Have you met my amigo Pepe? Kid worships the ground I hobble on. Can't say I blame him.
MacGyver: All right, here we go.
Jack Dalton: Brilliant. I don't know what you're doing, but it's brilliant.
Jack Dalton: Why didn't I just listen to you?
MacGyver: Why start now?
MacGyver: As soon as I get home I'm changing my phone number.
Jack Dalton: Come on, MacGyver, don't be like this. We're partners. Compadres. A team. Like hominy and grits.
MacGyver: Like gasoline and matches. I'm moving my houseboat to an unlisted marina.
Jack Dalton: How could you do this to me?
MacGyver: Do this to you?!? You used me, you lie to me, you suck me in, you... drive me up a wall!
Jack Dalton: What are friends for?
