MacGyver's grandfather Harry Jackson is fishing in Minneapolis with a neighbor boy who has noticed that Harry keeps catching fish while he doesn't have any luck. Harry Jackson: My grandson lives in California. Seems like an awfully long way off sometimes. Wanna see his picture?
Boy: Sure. He's your grandson? Boy, he's old! (Harry glares) Uh, I mean, you don't look that old.
Harry Jackson: Well, I'll let you in on a little secret. I don't feel that old either.
MacGyver: Are you gonna take me to 'em, or do I have to hunt all over this boat on my own, huh?
Harry Jackson: I suppose changing your mind is out of the question.
MacGyver: Yes, sir.
Harry Jackson: You always were stubborn. Just like your grandma.
MacGyver: Yeah, well, she used to say I got that from you.
Harry Jackson: Love's not some bill to be paid on holidays and weekends, Bud. You want to let somebody know you care, you do it when they're not around.
MacGyver: Harry, you're a genius.
Harry Jackson: I am? I'm gettin' a little slow, Bud. What's this idea of mine?
MacGyver: Death's not so scary. I don't think it's the end of anything. It's more like, just another step along the way.
Pete: That's a nice thought.
MacGyver: Yeah. Just somethin' my grampa taught me.
