As her due date approaches, Jamie grows impatient with the unwanted effects of her increasingly pregnant stomach, including a newfound klutziness, unsought questions about when she is due, and strangers touching her. Believing that she is greatly needed, she volunteers to help Paul's cousin David and his partner Jared prepare for the opening of their coffee shop, but the klutziness that is so frustrating to her frustrates them more. Paul, on the other hand, has only recently come to appreciate the pregnancy experience, and his enthusiasm for pregnant women leads him to offer help to one while riding the bus.

Paul and Jamie are not doing well in their birthing class, and their instructor gives them one last chance before she kicks them out - go on the dry run of the trip to the hospital. Because Paul's documentary, Buchman, includes a segment in which Paul's mother accuses Jamie of stealing a commemorative John F. Kennedy spoon the first time she visited their house, Paul's parents refuse to sign their release forms for the movie unless Jamie admits to the theft.

Paul refuses to have Marvin pay him back when he discovers Marvin's financial situation, but Marvin offers to pay Paul back by perfroming household chores.
