Mad Men is a smart and cinematic drama about the professional lives, social mores and sexual exploits of advertising executives on Madison Avenue circa 1960, when the industry was at its height of glamour, power, and prestige. The setting is the Sterling Cooper agency, which sells everything from cigarettes to political candidates. 6x8: The Crash recap: The episode begins with Ken driving a bunch of drunken executives around the city. They are fooling around with a gun, and one of them closes Ken’s eyes while driving. Don lurks outside Sylvia’s house, smoking cigarettes. After waiting for a while, he leaves. Later, Ted, Jim, Roger and Don are in a meeting, and Don looks disinterested. Ken arrives at the meeting. Ted is not happy that he is late. Ken tells him that the Chevy guys did not like their proposal. He says that after the meeting, they got drunk and took him for a joy ride in the Impala. 6x7: Man With a Plan recap: The episode begins with Don getting in the elevator. He stops on Arnie’s floor to hear him and Sylvia fighting. Don closes the door quickly. At the office Peggy walks in with Ted and introduces him to the creative team. Joan is assigning the new staff their places and Moira wants a copy of everything. Joan walks Peggy to her office; she is getting Harry’s old office. Peggy asks Joan how her little boy is and she says that he is the man of her life. The banker tells them that the cost of their company would be based at $9 per share. Burt thinks that it is supposed to be $12, but the banker assures him that his company has made the right evaluation. He tells them that he needs to keep the papers with him for 24 hours so that he could go through them. He also states that these papers are spotless and commends Joan on her record-keeping skills.
