Don Draper is sitting in a restaurant with a Jack Hammond from "Advertising Age"and a question is asked. "Who is Don Draper?" Don is confused how to answer the question and asks the Jack for help in answering . Jack presents a new set of questions about work, Don loosens up and begins to talk. With a few words from Don about an ad campaign, Jack concludes the interview.
Roger Sterling and Pete Campbell enter the scene and Don takes the time to introduce them to Jack Hammond. Jack rises to shake hands and tumbles.
Jack's foot turns sideways.
Roger inquires about the injury and Jack informs him, "Korea".
Pete appears desperate to make a good impression and Roger hands a business card to Jack. They all appear nervous and Jack is picking up on the desperation.
Roger sits down at the table to order a drink. Pete complains about time. Roger complains about the wooden legged reporter. Don picks up his briefcase and Roger gets up from his chair without a drink.
Pete begins introducing himself in a meeting room with Don and Roger looking at him to take the lead. Pete, Roger and Don introduce themselves to Jim Hartsdale and Bob Finley.
Jim and Bob begin to admire Don's work. Roger, Pete and Don are happy to have this meeting. Don does not let their frustration be apparent. Jim begins to tell the three about the problems selling a two piece bathing suit and remaining a family company.
Don asks the question: "Do you want women who want bikinis to buy your two piece or just want to make sure women who want a two piece don't suddenly buy a bikini?" This question jolts Jim and Bob away from their pitch to the ad men. Bob
begins to explain the customer base and Don dismisses this as customers now.
Don, Roger and Pete exit the elevator in SterlingCooperDraperPrice. Roger makes fun of the clients in the earlier meeting. Bert Cooper asks where they have been. Don, Roger and Pete begin to follow Bert. Don blows off a man seated in the office and doesn't even glimpse at the secretary on his way past them. Bert leads the men back to his office.
Bert informs Don he missed Jeff Atherton. Don states he's sorry, but doesn't know who that is. Bert is worried that the office looks tiny to big name clients. Pete asks Bert if he informed Mr. Atherton of the "second floor". Bert wants nothing to do with their charade. Bert wants a more professional office.
Bert leaves the room. Pete asks why Don was not enthusiastic about their earlier meeting. Don informs Pete that the meeting was a waste of time. Pete says Don has been to those meetings before.
Don remarks about the competition waiting outside the door. Don informs Pete that his time is too valuable to waste on meetings with stiff competition.
Pete closes the door to explain his vision of the company's position in the ranks of the competing firms. Don disagrees with Pete's assessment. Pete reaffirms his faith in Don's ability to outperform all others.
Peggy is running silly ad lines with Joey.
Pete enters with a Sugarbear ham and worries about the ad campaign. Peggy and Pete lament over the possibility of losing an account.
Don is sitting in his office with his accountant going over life insurance policies. Don is worried about his ex wife and their former house. Don wants nothing to do with it.
Peggy is sitting on her desk and brainstorming with Pete and Joey. Pete wants to give up on the account and Peggy has an idea to win them back. Peggy
wants to do a huge PR stunt to help the account. Pete is liking the idea on a smaller stunt. They work out the idea and Pete leaves to talk to casting.
Don is napping on his couch in his office. Roger enters. Roger invites Don to Thanksgiving dinner and wants Don to meet a friend of his. Roger tells Don's secretary to make the appointment for a blind date for Don.
Don enters his apartment and greets Celia. Celia is worried that Don is not eating. Don gets cross at Celia cleaning and moving his things. Celia leaves. Don begins to shine his shoes while watching TV. He watches his commercial for Glo-coat.
Don enters his apartment with his portfolio. He begins to look over the prints while watching a football game on TV.
Don makes his bed and puts on his coat. He fixes himself in the mirror and leaves the apartment.
Don is on his date. He seems uninterested and she
is really trying to get Don to loosen up. Don seems upset that anyone who care if he is dating after his divorce. Don changes the topic of conversation from world issues to his date's profession. She opens up and he listens. The waiter comes and they both order Chicken Kiev.
The cab pulls to a stop and Don and his date say goodnight. Don says he will not be at Roger's for thanksgiving. They kiss. Don wants to continue the date. Don offers to walk her in, she refuses. Don seems taken back by his rejection finally instructing the cab to take him home.
Peggy is in a diner talking to the actresses who fought in the PR stunt. Pete enters the diner and informs the actresses of their new found fame and slips them each an envelope. Peggy says they should have no further contact. Pete thanks them for their help. The ladies begin to fight in the diner. Pete and Peggy break them up.
Joan Harris is waiting on the phone in her office. Harry Craine enters the office from his trip to LA.
Harry tells Joan to call a meeting for some big news. Harry tells Joan about his big deal with ABC for Jai Alai.
Don enters the office and Roger asks to speak with him. Roger grabs a piece of paper from Lane Pryce and asks to talk to Don alone. Roger motions Don into his office. Roger hands Don a copy of "Advertising Age" with the article about Don.
Roger begins reading the unflattering article to Don. Roger becomes cross at Don's lack of cooperation for the firm's publicity. Don informs Roger his job is not PR for the firm. Roger bought all the papers he could to prevent the bad press. Don and Roger joke about the one legged reporter. Roger informs Don of his success with Jane's friend on their date.
Peggy and Joey enter Pete's office. Pete is excited about SugarBear's reaction to their PR Stunt. Joey looks at the paper and all three are excited over their success. Peggy begins brainstorming slogans and sends Joey to work up copy. Pete answers the
phone.
Roger, Lane, Don, Bert and Harry sit in chairs in the meeting room discussing the article in "Advertising Age". Pete and Joan come in and announces Jai Alai is leaving.
Harry is crushed about losing his deal. Pete informs them the client was unhappy about not being mentioned in Don's article. Harry yells at Pete to get them back. Bert is displeased. Don tries to brush away the loss of the account. Lane informs Don that without Jai Alai the firm is relying on Lucky Strike to survive.
Pete asks Harry to call about the Jai Alai account. Harry storms out. Bert states that Don will have to do another interview with the Wall Street Journal to create a better public image for the firm. Don stands behind his work. Bert states his job is to keep and acquire new accounts and he is failing at that. Bert leaves and the others follow. Jane gives Don some word of encouragement.
Jamie enters Thanksgiving dinner at the former Draper home. Mom begins to lament over the divorces. Sally isn't eating and Betty forces her to take a bite, causing Sally to choke and spit the food on her plate.
Sally and Betty can be heard arguing in a room off of the dining room. There is an air of tension in the room. Robert states he loves sweet potatoes and the room breaks up in laughter.
Don opens the door to his apartment and a woman enters. Don removes money from his wallet and the woman begins to undress.
Don and the woman are in bed and the woman begins to slap Don.
The phone is ringing and the woman brings it to Don. Peggy is calling Don. Peggy needs bail money for the actors hired in the PR stunt.
Don answers the door and begins to berate Peggy. Peggy's fiance Mark, confronts Don. Peggy is
confused by Mark introducing himself as a fiance.
Henry turns off light and climbs into bed with Betty. Their kissing is interrupted by footsteps in the hallway. Betty leaves to find Sally in the hall on the phone. Sally wants to call her Dad. Betty tells her to go to bed. Betty returns to bed. Henry suggests a couples dinner.
Robert runs to the door to greet his Dad. Betty and Sally come to meet Don. Henry says a quick hello and Don and the kids leave.
Henry and Betty enter the Garage and get into their car. Henry begins to kiss Betty passionately.
Sally and Robert are getting ready for bed in Don's apartment. Don takes a moment to stare at them.
Don is watching Dennis the menace with his kids. Don is working while the kids watch.
Don returns to the house with the kids. There is no answer at the door and Sally opens the door with
her key. All three enter the house and go upstairs.
Don is sitting on the couch watching TV. The dog begins to bark and Betty and Henry enter. Don is cross with Betty and asks Betty when she is moving. Don asks Betty for rent. Henry and Betty get upset by Don's actions, but Henry states Don is right.
Don is laying on the couch in his office. Peggy enters with a ham. Peggy and Don discuss the ad campaign and PR stunt. Don asks Peggy about your Fiance. Don asks Peggy to think about the image.
Peggy tells Don that everyone looks up to him and want to make him happy.
Henry is taking apart the table at his mother's house. Henry and his mother talk about Sally's behavior. Henry's mother talks badly about Betty.
Don is pitching Jim and Bob in the conference room. Don show the ad campaign. Jim and Bob are not happy with Don's ad. Don asks Jim and Bob what type of company they would like to be.
Roger and Pete look on silently. Don says that is what a creative company looks like and leaves the room. Roger goes after Don.
Roger catches up to Don and tells him that Pete will ask Jim and Bob for another meeting. Don is furious and storms back into the conference room. Don Tells Jim and Bob to get out. Pete follows Jim and Bob out of the conference room and down the hall. Don asks his secretary to get the Wall Street Journal on the phone.
The Wall Street Journal reporter is with Don at a restaurant. Don tells the heroic story of the agencies founding.
