Jane is in the doctors office asking about starting a family. Jane is worried about previous abortions effecting her ability to have children.
Don walks in the office building and Alison offers him coffee. Don enters his office. Henry comes into the office and begins to talk about Don's trip to California. Lane comes into the office and informs Henry of an upcoming meeting. Henry gets silent, then leaves. Alison enters with the coffee and Lane gives her some papers. Lane wishes Don a happy New year and leaves the office. Alison asks Don to sign the papers. Don asks Alison her plans for New Years.
Joan walks into Lane's office and asks for vacation time after the holidays. Lane refuses to give Jane the time off. Lane insults Joan's ability to get what she wants out of men. Joan turns and leaves the office.
Don is sitting in the window seat of an airplane,
quietly staring out the window.

Don is driving a convertable.
Don enters the gate of Anna Drapers house and they embrace on the porch. Don notices Anna's injured leg. Don and Anna have drinks in the living room.
Patty and Stephanie enter and greet Don as "Dick". Patty inquires about Dick's stay with Anna. Stephanie decides to stay with Dick and Anna. Patty leaves.
Jane enters her apartment and Greg asks her how the doctor went. Jane informs him everything is ok. Greg says he is getting a place for their getaway in January. Jane and Greg argue about their future plans. Greg leaves for work.
Don, Anna and Stephanie are sitting at a table drinking beer. Stephanie is telling stories of her
college days. Stephanie goes off to the bathroom and Don and Anna get a chance to talk. Don asks Anna if she would like to meet the kids. Anna and Don talk about Betty and Don's mixed up past. Stephanie returns and Don and Stephanie begin to dance.

Don helps Anna into her house and on the couch. Stephanie wants to hitchhike home but Don offers he a ride. Stephanie decides to accept.
Don and Stephanie are in the car driving. Stephanie asks about Don's marital status. Don admits he's divorced. Stephanie asks if Don goes on dates.
The car pulls into the driveway. Stephanie thanks Don for the ride and asks what time his flight is. Don begins to touch Stephanie's hair. Stephanie tells Don that Anna has cancer and that the doctors
haven't told her because she won't have long to live.
Don enters Anna's home. Anna is sleeping on the couch. Don picks her up off the couch and takes her into the bedroom. Don sits on the couch and smokes a cigarette.
The sun rises with Don is the same position on the couch.
Don opens a can of paint and begins painting Anna's wall. Anna walks into the living afraid Don had already left. Anna lights a joint and her and Don share it. Anna tells Don not to paint, but Don insists.
Anna talks about aliens coming to Earth. Anna tells Don that she knows everything about him and that she still loves him.
Patty enters with groceries and is shocked that Don is in his underwear and Anna is smoking pot. She puts the groceries down and storms off. Don puts on his pants to follow her.
Patty walks out of the front gate towards her car. Don talks to Patty about Anna's cancer and Don offers his financial help. Patty tells Don that there is nothing he can do for Anna. Patty tells Don to be decent and leave Anna so he doesn't tell her about the cancer. Patty hands Don the last bag of groceries and leaves.
Don brings the groceries into Anna's house and grabs a coke. Don sits with Anna and tells her that he has to go. Don promises to bring the kids out at Easter and Anna makes plans to take them to Catalina.
Joan is removing pencils from the ceiling tiles. Peggy comes in carrying a present. Joan opens the box and it is full of roses. Peggy comments on how nice it is to see a happily married couple in the agency. Joan offers to cover for Peggy is she wants the day off. Peggy says she needs time to buy a dress. Joan asks if Peggy has plans with the girls and Peggy says she's spending the holiday with her boyfriend, Mark. Joan leaves the room swiftly.
Joan walks into Lane's office angered by the gift of roses from him. Joan reads the card that came with the flowers. Joan throws the box of flowers at Lane and tells him off. Lane admits he sent flowers, but the cards were wrong and Joan recieved the one meant for his wife in London.
Lane calls Sandy into his office. Sandy explains that the mix up is not her fault. Joan states that Sandy is unable to accept blame and that is unacceptable. Lane asks what note was sent to his wife. Joan fires Sandy on the spot. Lane throws some papers in disgust. Sandy leaves, and Joan follows her out.
Don has his suitcase packed and is walking by Anna's Christmas tree. Anna is painting a flower on the wall that Don painted. Don signs the wall, "Dick & Anna '64" and the two hug. Anna tells Don he will be fine and Don tells her to call him if she needs anything. Don takes a long last look at Anna.
Don is flying in an airplane and the stewardess is trying to get his attention. She puts the drink in front of Don and wishes him a happy new year.
Greg enters his apartment to find Joan had made a New Year's Dinner for them. Greg begins to tell Joan about his day, and Joan cuts herself in the kitchen. Greg inspects the wound and gets his bag. Joan wants to go to the hospital and Greg sits her down and begins to get his tools out of the bag. Greg tells Joan this is routine for him. Joan is impressed by Greg's work. Joan begins to cry and Greg assures her everything will be just fine.
Don walks out of the elevator into the agency. He starts to unlock the doors but finds them already opened. Don calls out and Lane responds. Lane offers Don a sandwich, but Don asks if he could grab a drink instead. Lane pulls out a bottle his father gave to him as a birthday present and begins to pour. Lane and Don toast each other and drink. Don pours another and begins to leave Lane's office. Lane tells Don that the year has been
magnificent.
Lane is lying on the couch in his office. Don calls for him and Lane comes into the break room. Don tells Lane they are going to the movies and begins to list the movies playing.
Don sloppily fills a flask in Lane's office as Lane reads off the movies that are showing.
A Godzilla type movie is playing in the theater as Lane and Don sit and drink. Don tells Lane to look around at all the handjobs that are going on in the theater. A lady asks them to quiet down and Lane yells back , "Monstaah, Monstaahh" and points to the screen.
Lane and Don are in a restaurant talking about Lane liking America. Don apologizes for not being very friendly to him. Lane tells Don about his troubles with his wife and the fact that his wife is not returning to America. Lane asks for advice from Don and Don refuses to give any. Don offers Lane a date for the evening, Lane reluctantly
agrees. Lane picks up his steak and pretends it is a belt buckle.
Don and Lane are at a comedy club and the comedian picks them out as a gay couple. The dates arrive and all four sit to listen to a musician. After a few chords, Don wants to leave.
In Don's apartment, one of the escorts is complaining about Don's poorly stocked kitchen. The escorts offer Lane and Don drinks. Lane takes his date into another room.

Don and his date are sitting on the couch with drinks and begin to kiss.
Don is making coffee and Lane comes out of the room. Lane asks for a drink and offers to pay for the girl. Lane excuses himself and thanks Don for the distraction.
Don throws the sheets off of his bed and lays down on the mattress.
Don sits at the conference table with Henry, Roger, Joan, and Pete as Lane enters the room and sits down. Joan calls the meeting to order.
