Dr. Stringer, a specialist in the Romantic poets, believes he has an intruder at his home and calls the police. Lewis and Hathaway investigate and finds nothing, other than an arrogant Oxford professor and a rare book collection. Later, the maintenance worker is found murdered at the Bodleian Library, the first in nearly 500 years. The deceased had a large gambling habit and had the missing rare books stolen from the Bodleian. Later, Nell Buckley, a brilliantly creative Fine Arts student, is found murdered, and the only clue is a handwritten piece of Shelley's poetry in her pocket. Philip Horton, an obsessive painter with a photographic memory is the main suspect. But is this gentle genius even capable of murder...and what is his motive?
