Allison's old flame, Clay Bicks, appears at her doorstep moments after dying, unaware that he is dead. After coming to grips with his death and the fact that he'll never get to be wih the woman he loved, he decides that he's going to stay in Allison's house so he can be close to her. This obviously doesn't make Joe too happy, and Allison decides that something must be done to get Clay out of her house. Meanwhile, Allison shares an odd series of dreams with Bridgette, except for Bridgette's dreams keep coming to her in the form of cartoons.

Allison and Bridgette continue to have the same odd dreams, as Allison comes closer to figuring out what the dreams mean and how they relate to a series of shootings/killings. Clay continues to hang around in Allison's house, but his purpose eventually becomes clear and Allison's opinion of him changes. Meanwhile, Devalos' health is evaluated after a rush hospital visit and Scanlon's relationship with the mayor's liaison Lynn takes a turn for the worst.

Allison is surprised to see her old nemesis Dr. Charles Walker, a doctor from the late 1800's who murdered over a dozen of his patients, return to her dreams. She begins to worry that his spirit has returned to inhabit living people in order to continue with his massacring. She worries even more when she meets a young man who very closely resembles Dr. Walker.
