Melrose Place (1992)

Show Tidbits
Creator Darren Star, who was an executive producer on the show for its first four seasons, was allegedly the only fan (amongst the production staff) of Kristin Davis' character, the scheming Brooke Armstrong. This is why, when he left the show during it's fourth season, the character was quickly killed off - by falling from the balcony into the Melrose Place pool - despite Kristin Davis having been signed as a series regular that very season.

Creator/Executive Producer Darren Star and actress Daphne Zuniga (Jo Reynolds) once shared an apartment in Los Angeles - he has gone on record saying that the many quirks that Alison Parker (Courtney Thorne Smith) exhibits in her living arrangement with Billy (Andrew Shue), including the labeling of all her food with her own name, were based on his experiences living with Zuniga.

Future Friends couple Matthew Perry and Courteney Cox auditioned for the parts of Billy and Alison.

Stephen Fanning was originally cast in the role of Billy, but executive producer Aaron Spelling thought he was too rugged for the part. Andrew Shue was later cast in the role.

Jake Hanson, played by Grant Show, is the only character who was seen in Beverly Hills, 90210, Models Inc. and Melrose Place.

Melrose Place is a spin-off of Beverly Hills 90210. Beverly Hills 90210 stars Grant Show (Jake Hanson), Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor), Tori Spelling (Donna Martin) and Brian Austin Green (David Silver) all appeared during the first season.

Only one main cast member, Thomas Calabro (Michael Mancini), appeared in each season as a main cast member.

The original ending for the third season involved Kimberly blowing up the apartment building. However, after the Oklahoma City Bombings occurred, the producers reworked and reshot the ending, only showing Kimberly hitting the detonator button but no explosions appeared on screen.

The role of Taylor McBride was originally given to actress Hunter Tylo. However, when Tylo became pregnant, producer Aaron Spelling fired her, stating a change-in-her-appearance clause in her contract. Tylo sued Spelling for wrongful termination and was awarded 4.9 million dollars.
