Polk Salad Annie - Recap

The scene opens at Fat Red’s Barbeque where Dwight, Lightfoot, Charlie, and Greenback are enjoying Red’s famous ribs. Red comes over and gives them a pitcher of beer on the house. Eloise is timid around him. Suddenly, they are interrupted when a black teenager comes in looking around suspiciously. Dwight tells the team to take the sides just in case the robber is armed. The kid pulls a gun and Greenback picks him up and slams him on the bar and arrests him. He apologizes for the black kid’s behavior and that it does not reflect on him as a black man at all.

At the station, Lt. Rice tells that the barbecue is about to start and that people are going to need to be on their best behavior. She tells Dwight to wear a tie to the festivities. At the barbecue there is a Streakier that the police arrest immediately. They see Fat Red stumbling around and he is bleeding from the stomach. Eloise tells that a black guy ran away and she can’t remember the details that well. Greenback comes back and says that the thug that tried to rob Big Red was released early and that he could have done it. Dwight and Charlie question Merit, the black teen, and he tells that he was with his girlfriend having sex. But Dwight picks up that it is not true and gets him to confess to being out late but he did not kill Big Red. He talks about a man in a white uniform around the back the same time he was attempting to rob Big Red. A Mr. Bryce Cutter, a hog cutter, is the man they want.

Dwight and Charlie return to the barbecue and meet Bryce Cutter. They ask him about the attempted murder of Red and he tells that he has to wash up his hands. He runs. The catch up to him and Cutter has a heart attack. In the hospital they question him further and he tells that Red and him made up and that he ordered 20 hogs from him. Greenback calls and says that they have the murder weapon. They go to the hospital room that Red is at and questions about the hogs that were ordered. Red looks at Eloise and she tells that she has no idea how that happened. Back at the station, there is a group of children who have been arrested for different offenses. Rodney, Lt. Rice’s son, is among the group. Lt. Rice takes him in the office and yells at him. He tells that it is her fault that he is doing this and that she shut out her ex-husband. She tells that Rodney needs to take responsibility for his actions and she won’t be paying his bail.

The credit card was if tracked to Ronald Warsaw and there is a history between him and Red. Dwight tells Lt. Rice that her son can go and that boys will boys, but Lt. Rice wants him to get the time that he did the crime for and tells Dwight to stay out of it. Dwight and Charlie meet with Ron and he wants to talk to lawyer. Dwight calls him dumb and gets him to confess that it was Eloise put him up to it. Dwight and Charlie visit Eloise and Dwight tells that Red dominates over her but she keeps her cool. At the station Dwight and Charlie tell Lt. Rice that they Googled Eloise and they found that she was with a racecar driver, Rick Lee, before he came up missing. They feel that she killed her boyfriend and have moved to Red. The plan is to get Sutton to go undercover to get Eloise to have him kill Red. Dwight, Charlie and Greenback are going to be listening to the whole thing.

Sutton enters the bar and starts to make conversation with Eloise. They talk for a while and Sutton becomes smoother and smoother. She tells that she is going to be back tomorrow and that she would want him to be there again. The next night they are dancing and they become closer and closer. Eloise talks about how Kraft called and that she was shot down by Red and that they have until the end of the month to make her decision. He tells that he needs to go for it. Eloise and Sutton kiss and Dwight thinks they lost the feed. Outside the bar, Dwight tells Sutton to stop the kissing. Sutton tells that he can handle it. Inside he returns and tells that he could do anything for her. She tells that she wants her brother dead. She tells that she will pay $5,000 to do it and that she wants to see the body.

Dwight and Charlie tell Red that Eloise was the one trying to kill him. They need his help. At the RV Park, Sutton arrives and Eloise sees the body of Red. She yells at him and tells that she was not acknowledged and says that she is somebody. Red opens his eyes and tells that they are going to “have a talk”. Dwight and Charlie are chasing Red and Dwight tells that Sutton has to talk Red down. Sutton tells about his brother who was better then him and that he hated him and wished he was dead. But then his brother did die and that it was the worse thing. He tells that it was a farm accident and that he wishes that his brother was back with them. He tells that they are headed for a trap and that they have a chance to end it nicely. They pull over and both are taken into custody. Sutton talks to Eloise and tells that he can make sure that she will only go in for attempted murder and nothing else. Dwight tells that he should never get involved with a would-be killer. He tells that he will introduce him to Ed’s barbeque ribs.

Later that evening Dwight enters Lt. Rice’s office and tells that she needs to go to him. She tells that he needs to stop meddle. However, Dwight tells that she is the one meddling and she snaps that Dwight is meddling in everyone’s life and she tells that he needs to get out of her office. He takes off the tie. In the bar, Dwight sings “Polk Salad Annie” and the next morning goes to Alex’s house. She tells that she has a lot of chores and he tells that he understands that he needs to back up and stop meddling. He has brought a tool box to her and tells that he knows that she can stand on her own two feet. He leaves.
