Merlin is told by the Great Dragon that it is his destiny to make sure that the young Prince Arthur is kept safe. However, anybody caught performing magic is punished with the death penalty and Merlin is not a fan of Arthur. When Arthur's life is endangered, Merlin finds himself tested.
2 :01x02 - Valiant

When a plague spreads through the Kingdom of Camelot it seems that evil magic is the cause. Merlin and Gaius try and find a cure before it is too late. Gwen is accused of practicing witchcraft and is sentenced to death. Merlin, Arthur, and Morgana attempt to discover the real culprit and save Gwen before it is too late.
4 :01x04 - The Poisoned Chalice

Nimueh returns, and she tricks Merlin into consuming some poison from a chalice, causing him to become very ill. Arthur attempts to find an antidote but ends up walking into a trap set by Nimueh.
5 :01x05 - Lancelot

Lancelot shows up and saves Merlin from being killed by a monster. Merlin tries to get Lancelot made a Knight of Camelot for his bravery.
6 :01x06 - A Remedy To Cure All Ills

Lady Morgana is overcome by a strange illness and Gaius is unable to find a cure. Edwin Muirden is able to find a cure though and he manages to win over everyone at Camelot except Gaius.
7 :01x07 - The Gates of Avalon

Arthur finds himself in danger when he comes to the rescue of Sophia and her father, Aulfric. Merlin tries to find out more about them and what they are up to.
8 :01x08 - The Beginning of the End

Arthur finds himself becoming friends with Morgana when he helps a boy stay hidden. The two of them try to get the boy back to from where he came but things turn bad when Uther announces that anyone helping the boy will be executed.
9 :01x09 - Excalibur
Nimueh is back to her evil work, to gain revenge against Uther. To kill him, she conjures up a dead knight, who offers his gauntlet for someone to come and fight him to the death; as knight after knight fight and die at the Black Knight's hand, Arthur becomes angry, and we discover the truth of Nimueh and about Arthur's birth. Meanwhile Merlin discovers the knight is a dead man and no mortal weapon can kill him, can Merlin discover a way to kill the Black Knight?
10 :01x10 - The Moment of Truth

Merlin, Arthur, Morgana and Gwen join forces to save Merlin's village from a ruthless group of bandits, as the magical family drama continues.
Merlin is stunned when his mother, Hunith, turns up in Camelot, bruised, battered and desperate for help. Their village, Ealdor, has been attacked by a bandit, Kanan, and his men. Kanan is demanding all of the harvest and will be back in a week to collect everything – or the villagers will pay with their lives. If they give their food to Kanan, however, they will starve to death.
Merlin gets Hunith an audience with King Uther, who listens to her story but refuses to do anything. Ealdor is beyond the boundary of Camelot's realm and none of Uther's soldiers can cross the border – to do so would be an act of war.
Merlin, meanwhile, tells Arthur that he can no longer be his servant. He has to protect his mother and friends and will leave in the morning.
Merlin goes to Gwen to pick up some weapons and armour but, when he gets there, he finds Morgana with Gwen. After hearing Hunith's appeal, they couldn't let Merlin go alone. He tries to argue with them but they're both determined to help the villagers.
The gang sets up camp for the night in the woods and, as Merlin lies awake, unable to sleep, he hears the sound of a horse approaching through the darkness. It's Arthur, who tells him that he has come to help fight, too.
When they arrive, they find Kanan and some of his men ransacking the place. There's a stand-off and Kanan is forced to back down as Arthur demonstrates his prowess with the sword.
Arthur convinces the villagers that they have to fight, but an old friend of Merlin's, William, refuses – he blames Arthur for riling Kanan.
Merlin realises that, unless he uses his powers, there is no way that they can defeat Kanan and his men, but will he risk exposing his abilities to save his friends and the villagers?
11 :01x11 - The Labyrinth of Gedref
When Arthur kills a unicorn while out on a hunting trip, a curse descends on Camelot, as the magical family drama continues. Could this be the end for the mythic city?
An upset Merlin rushes to the animal's side as the knights cheer Arthur for killing this most highly prized of beasts. As the unicorn dies, Merlin sees a wizened old man watching the scene amongst the trees. Their eyes meet and then he disappears.
The next morning, Arthur and Uther survey a valley in which the crops in the fields below have died overnight. It's the same story all over the kingdom. If they don't do something, the people will starve. When, later that day, the water in Camelot's well turns into sand, Arthur and Uther become desperate – the town is now facing a famine and a drought. Gaius suggests that these events cannot be a coincidence and that a curse has come to Camelot.
That night, Merlin and Arthur are on patrol when they come across a strange man – it's the same person Merlin saw in the forest. He introduces himself as Anhora, the keeper of the unicorns. Anhora tells them Arthur is responsible for the curse, revealing it was unleashed when Arthur killed the unicorn. Arthur doesn't accept this and is angry at the suggestion he is responsible. Before he disappears again, Anhora tells Arthur that he will be tested and, until he has made amends for his actions, Camelot will be damned.
12 :01x12 - To Kill the King
Uther has many enemies, but who would have thought Morgana would want to help assist in the murder of him?
13 :01x13 - Le Morte d'Arthur
The finale of series one. Merlin and Arthur encounter a ferocious beast whilst out hunting, it is conjured up by the old magic and only with the old magic can someone be cured when wounded by the beast. When Arthur organizes an attack against this creature he gets bitten and Merlin must save him, but he must give a life in return.
14 :02x01 - The Curse of Cornelius Sigan

Treasure is found in an ancient tomb under Camelot. Gaius is worried that the treasure belongs to Cornelius Sigan, an evil sorcerer and wants the King to have the tomb resealed. A new servant called Cedric attempts to turn Arthur against Merlin. Merlin finds out what Cedric is up to and finds himself being forced to turn to The Great Dragon.
15 :02x02 - The Once and Future Queen

Arthur is determined to win an upcoming jousting competition at Camelot. Gwen challenges Arthur to give up his spoilt ways after he goes undercover with her and Merlin. Myror shows up at Camelot determined to kill Arthur. Arthur is determined to prove himself and win the contest unaware that he is in danger.
16 :02x03 - The Nightmare Begins

Morgana is worried she has magical powers when he nightmares start to become a reality. Merlin is determined to help her even though Gaius is against the idea. Morgana finds herself being reunited with the strange young druid boy Mordred who the Dragon has predicted will be person who ends up killing Arthur in the future.
17 :02x04 - Lancelot and Guinevere

After Gwen is mistaken for Morgana she is kidnapped by Hengist. Arthur attempts to rescue her and Merlin thinks that Arthur cares about her. Arthur discovers Lancelot has already shown up when he tries to rescue her.
18 :02x05 - Beauty and the Beast - Part 1

Merlin and Gaius suspect that Lady Catrina is not quite as she seems after she shows up in Camelot. Arthur isn't happy when his father flirts with her. When Merlin discovers that she is really a troll, he finds it impossible to get Arthur to listen to him. Merlin tries to stop Catrina from ruining Uther's life, but she has her eyes set on an even bigger prize.
19 :02x06 - Beauty and the Beast - Part 2

Queen Catrina settles into her new role at Camelot and her influence over Uther increases. Merlin is forced to go into hiding. Merlin tries to expose Catrina without being caught and break her hold over the kingdom.
20 :02x07 - The Witchfinder
Uther is determined to get rid of all magic within Camelot once and for all. Aredian, a witch finder, is called to Camelot to help deal with the problem. Gaius tries to make Merlin see how much danger he is in. Morgana is certain that Aredian will discover her secret and Merlin attempts to protect both her and Gaius.
21 :02x08 - The Sins of the Father
Arthur is challenged to a duel by a mysterious warrior. Arthur and Merlin then find themselves on a quest on Morgause's behalf. A dark secret is discovered by Arthur that could change Camelot forever.
22 :02x09 - The Lady of the Lake
Freya is found by Merlin trapped in a bounty hunter's cage and decides to try and help her escape. Merlin refuses to listen to Gaius' warnings not to get involved. After freeing her Merlin hides Freya in the tunnels beneath Camelot. Merlin is forced to make some hard decisions to keep Freya safe.
23 :02x10 - Sweet Dreams

Peace talks are held at Camelot when dignitaries from rival kingdoms arrive. King Alined is determined there will be no peace though and will use magic to make sure his wishes happen.
24 :02x11 - The Witch's Quickening
Guest star: Joseph Mawle (Alvarr), Asa Butterfield (Mordred), Emily Beecham (Enmyria)
A warlock named Alvarr is determined to allow magic to be used again and to destroy Camelot. Alvarr needs to reclaim the Crystal of Neahtid to make his plan work. Alvarr and Mordred, the druid boy, persuade Morgana to help them steal the crystal from the vaults of Camelot. Merlin is surprised when he finds out the real power of the crystal.
25 :02x12 - The Fires Of Idirsholas
Guest star: Rupert Young (Sir Leon), Jem Wall (Joseph), Emilia Fox (Morgause)
For the first time in over 300 years the fires of Idirsholas burn and Gaius is worried that a sorcerer has revived the deadly Knights of Medhir. Morgause returns and is determined to end Uther's reign at Camelot.
26 :02x13 - The Last Dragonlord
Guest star: Rupert Young (Sir Leon), Jonathan Coyne (Asgerd), Alexander Delamere (Innkeeper), John Lynch (Balinor)
The Great Dragon attacks Camelot after finally being free. Arthur's men find themselves fighting a losing battle. A Dragonlord is needed to kill the dragon and Gaius admits one could still be alive. Arthur and Merlin attempt to find Balinor to save Camelot and his enemy Uther.
27 :03x01 - The Tears of Uther Pendragon - Part One
The has been no news on Lady Morgana since she disappeared a year ago. Merlin and Arthur get a lead though but they attacked by some bandits but Merlin's secret magic saves the day. A bruised and bloodied figure approaches the group who turns out to be Lady Morgana. Morgona is welcomed back at Camelot but Merlin is worried she will tells somebody what happened the last time they met. Morgana attempts to convince Merlin that she has changed and insists no one will know what happened. The truth about Morgana is revealed though when she slips out of the castle and meets up with Morgause.
28 :03x02 - The Tears of Uther Pendragon - Part Two
Merlin finds it hard to recover from the serket's poison. Morgana and Morgause step up their plans for the invasion of Camelot whilst he is out of action. Morgause continues to manipulate Cenred, as he prepares to launch an attack on the citadel. Morgana receives a powerfully enchanted rowan staff from Morgause to help her in her magical treachery. King Uther is still not able to rule as he tries to recover from the enchantment. Arthur is left to defend the attack on the citadel. Merlin knows it is down to him to try and stop Morgana without revealing his own powers.
29 :03x03 - Goblin's Gold

After Merlin discovers a secret chamber, he ends up accidentally releasing a goblin. The mischievous creature possesses Gaius, leading to develop a taste for gold, ale and magical jokes. Merlin has to banish the goblin back to where he came from before any real damage can be done.
30 :03x04 - Gwaine

Merlin and Arthur find themselves outnumbered when a brawl breaking out in a tavern and they finds themselves being helped by a brave young man called Gwaine. He ends up risking his life to protect Arthur and is seriously hurt in the process. After Arthur takes him back to Camelot he soon recovers and is left in the care of Merlin who he soon starts causing problems for.
31 :03x05 - The Crystal Cave
Merlin meets with the mysterious Taliesin and the old sorcerer takes him to the crystal cave and shows him a glimpse of the future. Merlin sees Morgana who is about to murder Uther. Merlin realizes that it is down to him to make sure that what he saw never happens.
32 :03x06 - The Changeling
Arthur finds himself being pressured into an arranged marriage with Elena. Merlin soon discovers though that Elena may not be exactly who she claims to be.
33 :03x07 - The Castle of Fyrien
Gwen finds herself facing an impossible dilemma when she has to to choose between saving the lives of her estranged brother, Elyan, or Arthur. One of them seems certain to die at the hands of Cenred as Gwen faces an impossible decision.
34 :03x08 - The Eye of the Phoenix
Arthur leaves on a solitary quest to retrieve the Golden Trident from the Fisher King so that he can prove that he is worthy of being the next king of Camelot. Morgana decides that she has an opportunity to use her dark magic and she ends up gives him a precious bracelet containing a Phoenix Eye which puts him in danger. Merlin with Gwaine's help tries to save Arthur.
35 :03x09 - Love in the Time of Dragons
Alice, an old flame of Gaius', shows up in Camelot and Merlin is happy to see another side to his mentor. After finding out though that she is under the influence of a Manticore, Merlin has no choice but to tell Gaius of her evil intentions. Gaius and Merlin end up falling out when Gaius refuses to believe the truth about Alice.
36 :03x10 - Queen of Hearts
Morgana has dreams about Guinevere becoming Queen of Camelot. Morgause encourages her to reveal Arthur and Gwen's relationship to Uther, who decides to make sure they never marry. Arthur decides to leave with her after his father banishes Gwen from the kingdom. Merlin has to risk everything after Morgana causes more problems for Gwen.
37 :03x11 - The Sorcerer's Shadow
Camelot's legendary tournament has just one rule which is there are no rules. Terrifying warriors fill the city and Gilli decides to join the action. Gilli starts to realise the full potential of his powers which leaves Merlin feeling torn. Gilli is not only putting his own life in danger but his actions threaten to destroy Camelot. Merlin attempts to make Gilli see sense before it is too late.
38 :03x12 - The Coming of Arthur - Part One
Merlin and Arthur leave for a dangerous mission to capture the Cup of Life. They end up getting captured by unscrupulous slave trader called Jarl. The cup ends up falling into Morgause's hands. Morgause and Morgana hope they can get rid of Uther once and for all.
39 :03x13 - The Coming of Arthur - Part Two

Queen Morgana starts a reign of evil over everybody in Camelot. Morgause's immortal army help her keep command and it looks like there is no hope for Uther. Arthur regains his strength and Gwaine, Lancelot, Elyan and Percival attempt to help him with a counter attack. Merlin attempts to help Arthur reclaim Excalibur from the Lake of Avalon before time runs out to save everyone.
40 :04x01 - The Darkest Hour - Part 1 of 2
After Morgana's determination threatens not only Arthur's future, but also the very balance of the world, Merlin faces his toughest challenge yet. Hellish creatures end up emerging killing everyone that they touch. With Uther a shadow of his former self, Arthur and his loyal knights, including Lancelot are forced to try and protect the kingdom.
41 :04x02 - The Darkest Hour - Part 2 of 2
The kingdom is on the verge of complete collapse and Morgana is poised to strike. Lancelot races back to Camelot with the dying Merlin leaving Arthur to continue on his mission to vanquish the Dorocha alone. Friendship and loyalties end up being tested to the limit. It is the power of love that ends up changing all their lives for ever though.
42 :04x03 - The Wicked Day
The city is looking forward with anticipation for the Prince's birthday celebrations. Arthur's old adversary, Odin, promises to make sure it will be a party that Camelot will never forget. A deadly assassin is lurking set to strike amongst the guests at the party. Camelot is left feeling devastated as the dust begins to settle.
43 :04x04 - Aithusa

Julius Borden shows up in Camelot with news of a magical secret that could threaten to change the landscape of the kingdom. He has found the final part of the key to the tomb of Ashkanar which is an ancient mausoleum which holds insode the last remaining dragon's egg. Merlin finds himself being drawn in by Borden's news and offers to help him.
44 :04x05 - His Father's Son
Arthur discovers what it's really like to be King for the first time since his coronation after he incurs the wrath of the formidable Queen Annis. Arthur has to find the strength to be his own man and become the leader Camelot so desperately needs at the moment.
45 :04x06 - A Servant Of Two Masters
After Merlin ends up falling into Morgana's hands, he becomes an important weapon in her effort for supremacy. Using some ancient magic, she makes friend go up against friend and creates the perfect assassin. Arthur has no clue that he is in great danger.
46 :04x07 - The Secret Sharer
Morgana teams up with enigmatic wizard Alator to learn a secret that could change the course of destiny. With allies on both sides of the castle walls, Morgana look likely to reveal Merlin's secret.
47 :04x08 - Lamia
Merlin is drawn to to a village by a mysterious illness. It soon becomes obvious that there is more at stake than just his well-being. Merlin finds himself becoming embroiled in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
48 :04x09 - Lancelot Du Lac
After Sir Lancelot makes a dramatic return from the dead, old feelings end up being reignited. Gwen findsa herself having to fight temptation before she commits an act of betrayal. Merlin becomes suspicious about Lancelot.
49 :04x10 - A Herald Of The New Age
The Camelot Knights discover a strange shrine in the forest. After Elyan ignores Merlin's warning, he ends up starting a chain of events more frightening than anyone could have imagined.
50 :04x11 - The Hunter's Heart
Morgana ends up discovering a powerful ally in the Southron warlord Helios and they come up with the perfect plan to bring Camelot to its knees. With Arthur preoccupied by the beautiful Princess Mithian, it ends up falling to an absent friend to raise the alarm.
51 :04x12 - The Sword in the Stone (Part 1 of 2)
Morgana is now the head of a vast Southron army and a deadly net is closing around Camelot. After the sorceress strikes everyone is forced to run for their lives including Arthur. It is down to Merlin to try and save Arthur from Morgana's clutches.
52 :04x13 - The Sword in the Stone (Part 2 of 2)
Morgana and Helios have managed to take control of Camelot and Merlin and Arthur are now outlaws on the run. After becoming trapped in Ealdor with the army closing in, their situation ends up looking dire. Merlin attempts to restore Arthur's faith before it is too late.
