Detective Sergeant Ben Jones [Series 9-present], played by Jason Hughes
DS Jones was first discovered by DCI Tom Barnaby during a murder investigation that involved a couple that were garroted in their car. Jones was a uniformed police constable at the time, but his insights, and his being in the right place at the right time, earned him a place alongside Barnaby in solving the most gruesome murders in Midsomer.
Born in Wales, Jones moved to Midsomer (the town of Dunstan to be exact) at a young age. His knowledge of the area has come in handy, as has his family history. Many cases were solved thanks to his knowhow and background.
Ben also has very keen hunches and has often been right in his assessment of suspects and motives. Barnaby has come to rely on his quick and spot-on judgment. |
