Sorry to see him go, but he has actually reached retirement age for a real life police officer at 65 anyway. I hope that the series continues with another lead as I enjoy watching the goings-on in 'the deadliest county in England'.

Agree with a_j_raffles sad news, hope the series continues with somebody such as Laurence Fox (DS Hathaway in Lewis) as the new boss.
