On the day of Frank's first step toward initiation into the Millennium Group, he is contacted by a family who have lost their son, Alex Glaser, in Alaska. Frank finds himself compelled to help, and asks for the Group's co-operation. Peter informs him that the Group want no part of his rescue attempt, so Frank sets off to the wilderness alone.
