The Miss Universe beauty pageant is an international beauty competition where the winners of various national competitions compete to be crowned the most beautiful woman in the land. This series televises that pageant, with one being held each year.
The pageant was first nationally televised in 1960 on CBS. For the first five years, the broadcast included the Miss USA
pageant, until that was aired separately beginning in 1965. Miss Universe started airing on NBC in 2003.
The 63rd annual Miss Universe Pageant will take place in Doral-Miami, Florida, and air live from Florida International University on Sunday, January 25, 2015. Contestants from around the world will be judged in three categories, swimsuit, evening gown and interview, as they vie to become the next Miss Universe. Gabriela Isler from Venezuela will crown her successor at the conclusion of the live telecast.
Global beauties compete in swimsuit, evening gown and interview categories at the 62nd annual gala, hosted by Thomas Roberts and Mel B from Crocus City Hall in Moscow. Slated performers include Panic! at the Disco and Emin.
