The Legend - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
A janitor places an out of service sign on an elevator and Dan gets in and gets his briefing from a tape hidden underneath the button panel. He’s briefed on Dr. Herbert Raynor, a Nazi who has been in prison for 20 years. He has just been released and his going with his sister to Puerto Huberra in South America. Other top-ranking Nazis are also heading o Puerto Huberra, thanks to an anonymous benefactor. The IMF must stop them.

Dan assembles the usual team minus Willy, and has Rollin make him up as Raynor. There are no pictures of his daughter, but they’ll hold Raynor and his daughter at the prison for a few days. Dan warns that four countries have sent agents to the huge chateau that is the base of operation but they’ve all been killed.

Cinnamon and the disguised Dan arrive at the chateau which is under heavy guard. They are greeted by Frederick Rudd, personal secretary to their benefactor. He then takes all of the assembled Nazis upstairs, unlocks a gate, and shows them the bed-ridden commandant… Martin Bormann. Bormann claims he was injured in the plane crash that brought them to Puerto Huberra and Rudd will speak for him and explain his plan. He promises that they will raise Germany up once more.

That night in her room, Cinnamon sets a fire on her pillow and puts on a rebreather mask to protect herself from the fumes. The guards outside spot the smoke and sign the alarm, and Rudd and the others go to investigate. Dan then heads for Bormann’s room while Cinnamon takes off the mask and feigns unconsciousness. Dan gets into the room but touches the gate and is electrified. Rudd finds him and demands to know what he was doing, and Dan claims he was going to protect Bormann. Rudd buys his story but refuses to let Dan see him. He goes to see Cinnamon, and they determine to bring in Rollin and Barney since their first attempt failed. Cinnamon then signals them using a handheld infrared beam

The next day Rudd lays out their plan to infiltrate German cities while Cinnamon is assigned duties in the kitchen. That night they watch old films of Hitler while Dan slips out and across the roof to Bormann’s room. Rudd notices his absence and asks Cinnamon where he is, and she expresses her admiration for Rudd and admits her father is too weak. He’s pleased with her response, but then Barney sets off explosions outside the walls. The men go to investigate while Dan slips into Bormann’s room. Drawing a gun, he confronts “Bormann,” only to discover he’s a dummy.

Rudd and the others find the gunshots: a loudspeaker and tape recorder. They rush back to the house while Dan finds pre-recorded speeches. Rudd looks into the room, then opens the gate activating an automatic tape recording. Dan gets back to his room and tells Cinnamon what’s going on, and they wait for Rollin.

Later Cinnamon goes downstairs and one of the others, General von Cramm, confronts her. She claims to be reading Mein Kampf and he lets her by, and she goes outside with Dan to find Rollin and give him brief instructions as he slips into Bormann’s room.

Cinnamon then goes to see Rudd and ask if there’s a way to serve. They spar over German philosophy but Rudd hears a noise from Bormann’s room despite Cinnamons’ efforts. He goes to investigate and Rollin hides, and Rudd doesn’t find anything. He then dismisses Cinnamon but she shows him a photo of her and her father with Hitler before leaving.

The next afternoon Rudd goes into the room and puts the dummy into a wheelchair, the puts it out on the balcony with another pre-recorded speech. Later as Rudd briefs the others on “Bormann’s” plan, he secretly activates the remote-controlled wheelchair so the others hear it and think Bormann is active. Bormann’s orders are for everyone to follow Rudd’s orders. He prepares to leave when suddenly Bormann enters: Rollin in disguise. A shocked Rudd demands to know who Rollin is and almost loses it but manages to restrain himself. Rollin orders him taken to his bedroom for a rest while he meets with the others.

Cinnamon goes to see Rudd who tries to convince her that Bormann is an imposter. He shows her the partly shrouded Bormann dummy and claims he’s the real Bormann, drugged. Cinnamon gives him a gun and tells Rudd to do whatever it takes, then distracts the guard so Rudd can knock him out. Rudd charges into the study where Rollin reveals that “his” plans have been changed and alters them back. An angry Rudd shoots him down and Dan declares him dead. While Dan and Cinnamon take the “body” away and advises them to leave, the remaining Nazis turn on Rudd as he tries to explain his scheme. It doesn’t go well, and the Nazis kill him as the team makes its escape.
