The Bunker (1) - Recap

Jim picks up his briefing from a parked car and is informed that Dr. Erich Rojak is being held in an enemy bunker and forced to work on a long-range missile. His wife Anna is held hostage to force his cooperation, and another enemy country has sent an assassin, Alexander Ventlos, to kill Rojak. The IMF must rescue Rojak and his wife.

Jim assembles the usual team and Barney tests a hover device, flying it around Jim’s apartment. He then attaches a hypodermic to it with a substance that will give Rojak the appropriate symptoms. However, Jim will have to mix the formula on site. He warns that Ventlos is a master of disguise. Barney also has a detection device, and Jim warns the bunker is 100 meters underground.

A missile is brought into the bunker for Rojak to work on, under the supervision of Captain Praedo. Praedo reminds Rojak that his wife is held hostage. Ziegler goes to security headquarters where Willy watches as a repairman and signals Jim and Barney, who are out on a country road where Ziegler will be returning. Ziegler reports to his superiors on the success of the project. Ventlos is also watching the headquarters and calls Praedo, impersonating Ziegler and ordering him to come to the security headquarters. Jim and Barney rig the road with explosive squibs while Rollin arrives in the country as a heart surgeon.

Praedo is driving to headquarters when he finds a car blocking the road with a dead man in the driver’s seat. The “dead man” is Praedo: Ventlos in disguise. He disposes of Praedo and goes on his way.

Jim and Barney work on a car, attaching more squibs and scattering shell casings. Rollin works on Cinnamon, disguising her as Anna Rojak. Ziegler finishes his report and leaves, with Willy alerting Jim and Barney. Jim dresses as an officer gets into the rigged car and drives in front of Ziegler’s motorcade. Barney then “opens fire” using remote devices. Ziegler and his men return fire and Barney slips away. Jim shows Ziegler his orders identifying him as a security officer assigned to the bunker. Barney gives Rollin the signal to send in Cinnamon, while Ventlos, disguised as Praedo, easily gains access to the bunker.

Jim arrives and his suitcase is searched, and the guards find a device inside. Barney, working nearby as a repairman, sees Cinnamon as she drives by disguised as a military officer. He then hooks a camera into the system and transmits Jim’s photo ID. They summon Praedo see the device in Jim’s suitcase. Cinnamon arrives and presents her ID, and they have her wait outside. Jim explains that the device is intended to help locate Ventlos. Each man’s hand will be stamped with a chemical solution that the device can detect electronically. Jim says he’s worked with Cinnamon’s cover identity… and identifies her as an imposter when she comes in. Barney intercepts the signal and “confirms” that Cinnamon is an imposter. Jim speculates that Ventlos tried to kill him and Cinnamon is his co-conspirator. Jim has her taken to state security headquarters and is escorted to his quarters.

Once in his quarters, Jim opens a concealed compartment in the suitcase revealing the hoverpad, its transmitter, and the drug he needs to mix. Cinnamon is taken into state security headquarters while Willy watches from the roof. Once she’s inside, he opens an exhaust chimney on the roof and sets up a powerful winch. Cinnamon is put into the cell next to Anna Rojak and Willy lowers himself down into the furnace. He then removes his coveralls to reveal a military uniform, and sprays foam into the alarm system.

Jim puts the hoverpad into the ventilator shaft then goes on a tour of the facility with Ziegler. Ziegler reveals that Rojak’s cell is impenetrable except by someone who has the proper voice signature. Willy knocks out the security guard then releases Cinnamon and puts her in Anna’s cell. At the bunker, Rojak refuses to work further and Ziegler orders Anna brought to the bunker.

Willy gets Anna to the furnace while Cinnamon takes her place. The guards arrive to pick up Anna and notice the security officer is missing while Cinnamon removes a mask of her face to reveal a mask of Anna. The guards find “Anna” in her cell and take her to the bunker, while a janitor comes into the furnace room just as Willy and Anna get inside. They hide around the edges as the man dumps the papers inside.

The guards discover that Cinnamon is missing and order a search. Meanwhile, Willy triggers the remote on the winch and he and Anna are lifted upward, but the janitor activates the furnace and the flames rise higher…
