The Bunker (2) - Recap

Willy and Anna continue to rise up toward the top of the furnace chimney and make their escape, with Willy switching to his repairman uniform and hiding Anna on the painters scaffold just as the guard arrives.

Ventlos, disguised as Praedo, passes Jim’s new chemical test while Ziegler is informed that “Cinnamon” has escaped and “Anna” is being brought to the bunker as leverage against her husband. Praedo gets into the laboratory to check on Rojak… and prepare to kill him. The disguised Cinnamon is brought in and Ziegler prepares to shoot her as Jim looks on. Jim suggests that they give Rojak a few minutes to think about it, with his wife with him. They put her in the chamber and while kissing him, Cinnamon whispers to him to play along then remove the grille on the ventilator shaft at 2 o’clock. Rojak then agrees to continue working and Jim has Cinnamon locked up at the bunker.

Jim mixes the drug while Willy brings Anna to the van where Barney is set up. Jim then puts the syringe on the hoverpad precisely at 1:30 and Barney uses the remote to navigate it through the air shafts. He warns that in the missile shaft the signal will be partially blocked.

Ventlos goes to the fuel chamber adjoining Rojak’s lab while Barney loses the signal and the hoverpad drops to the bottom of the shaft. He feeds extra power to the device and navigates it to the ventilator shaft in Rojak’s lab. Rojak starts to secretly remove the grille but is interrupted by his monitor, Dromm. With time running out, Jim convinces Ziegler to order Dromm out and Rojak gets the hypodermic and injects himself, then disposes of the hypodermic into the grille. Rojak collapses of a (fake) heart attack and Ziegler has the completed missile taken out. The doctor notes that Rojak has a heart condition and Jim suggests they contact Rollin, impersonating a heart surgeon.

Rollin agrees and comes to the bunker, and concludes they need to conduct open-heart surgery. Jim calls the hospital to make the arrangements for an ambulance and Barney intercepts the call. Rollin goes to prepare for surgery but Ventlos knocks him out and makes a Rollin mask. He then goes down to get Rojak while Barney and Willy go in as ambulance drivers with Anna in the back.

The disguised Ventlos comes in but doesn’t speak, and Jim whispers to him what’s going in. Jim spots the traces of a mask and intercepts him, ripping off the mask before Ventlos can administer a lethal injection. Ventlos is shoved into the fuel chamber and engaged in a pitched gun battle with the security guards. He changes the fuel mix before Ziegler bursts in and shoots him down. They have only seven minutes until the bunker explodes and Ziegler orders an evacuation. They go up on the missile hoist but the team frees Cinnamon, awakens Rojak, knocks out Ziegler, and leaves him and Dromm trapped in Rojak’s laboratory while they go up in the hoist.

The hoist goes up with excruciating slowness and finally they get to the top as the fuel explodes, destroying the complex and killing Ziegler and the others. Willy and Barney pick them up and Rojak is reunited with his wife as the team makes their escape.
