Nitro - Recap

Jim picks up his briefing at a library office on a microfilm . He’s informed that the general of the Karakian Army, Zek, is opposed to a treaty between his country and the neighboring Agir. Zek is working with a munitions maker, Ismir Najiid, to provoke a war and destroy his country’s Government House where his ruler, King Said, is making a speech about the peace treaty. The IMF must discredit Zek once and for all.

Jim assembles the usual team plus General Tamaar, King Said’s assistant. The team listens to Barney’s tape recording of war effects and Rollin is prepared to make a spontaneous broadcast speech. Cinnamon is accredited as a reporter and Barney plans to get Rollin in, but Jim warns him that the guards patrol the place every five minutes. Willy demonstrates a camera that shoots a knockout drug. Rollin is working on a mockup disguise of the legendary terrorist Colonel Hakim, who is famous for using nitroglycerine.

Barney arrives as a computer systems analyst at Najiid’s munitions plan, while terrorist Aristo Skora meets with General Zek Najiid. Skora shows them his plan for planting the explosives before departing as Barney arrives. Skora arrives at the Government House where Rollin and Willy, dressed as soldiers, take him into custody. Jim as a reporter arrives at the Government House where he meets with General Tamaar who takes him to the king.

Barney reprograms the computer to open the vault door where the nitro is stored. Rollin and Willy knock out Skora, take him to a warehouse, and Rollin then puts on the Hakim disguise. Cinnamon arrives at the Government House and Tamaar introduces her to King Said and General Zek. At the warehouse, Wily rigs a truck with a remote control device.

Jim talks to Said and Zek and reveals that Cinnamon is connected with the terrorist Hakim. Zek orders tight surveillance for her. Willy drives the now-disguised Rollin to Najiid’s munitions plant. They pull up outside the wall and Rollin crosses over, gets to a forklift, and drives it to the wall where he picks up a heavily reinforced and refrigerated case from Willy. Barney activates the program and Rollin drives the forklift to the vault and intercepts the guard at precisely 8 p.m. Rollin knocks him out and takes him into the vault. With five minutes left, Rollin carefully transfer three vats of nitroglycerine into the box, which he then loads on the forklift. However, the battery goes dead. Rollin quickly takes the battery from the guard’s vehicle and rigs into the forklift.

The guards notice the missing man and try to sound the alarm, but Barney has programmed the system to shut down the alarm as well. With time running out, Rollin has to negotiate a speed bump. He clears it and meets Willy at the wall, where they transfer the nitro over. They escape just as the guards arrive and one of them opens fire, hitting a brake line although the IMF is unaware of it.

Back at the warehouse, Barney finishes hooking up the remote control while Rollin disguise Skora as Hakim. Najiid and Zek determine from the guard that Hakim stole the nitro (the guard describes Rollin’s disguise) and they wonder if he’ll contact Cinnamon. Rollin disguises himself as Skora then goes to visit Zek and says that they have to postpone their plan. Zek’s man follows Cinnamon to the warehouse then reports her location. They go there and find that ”Hakim” is dead of a heart attack, but he has the nitroglycerine. They determine that “Hakim” was going to use the truck and remote-control drive it into the Government House. They interrogate Cinnamon and figure out the plan. Rollin/Skora suggests they adopt Hakim’s plan and plant his corpse at the wheel to implicate Agir. Cinnamon gives up the location of the radio controller once Skora convinces her they’ll carry out Hakim’s last mission.

The controller is at a building near the Government House and Zek leaves his man there while Rollin/Skora takes Cinnamon away to dispose of her. The next morning, Jim and Willy are at the peace treaty speech where Najiid gives an introduction. King Said arrives and Willy drugs Najiid and takes him into Tamaar’s office where he has a view of the street and the approaching truck.

Rollin/Skora gets into the truck and drives it toward Government House, then props Skora/Hakim up at the wheel and goes to the controller. Najiid tries to get out as time gets close but Tamaar makes sure he stays there, while Willy and Jim return to Said’s speech. Barney knocks out Zek’s man watching Rollin/Skora, then Rollin impersonates the man and tells Zek (at his military headquarters) that the truck is heading for its destination. Jim slips out and short circuits the transformer for the TV cameras while Barney plays the sounds of explosives over the radio for Zek’s benefit.

Najiid panics while Zek comes on the air. Believing Said is dead and Hakim is implicated, Zek announces that Agir is responsible and he will be taking over. Barney then steers the truck toward Government House where Najiid can see it. Najiid confesses and Tamaar tells his men to bring Skora/Hajim to him. Barney tries to stop the truck but the brake line has lost fluid and the brakes don’t respond. Barney desperately tries to lock the gears and manages to stop it with seconds to spare. Skora/Hakim is brought in and unmasked, and Said has them all arrested as the team slip away.
