Episode Quotes
Barney: I'll see you again. Soon. The next time there's a showing of your paintings in the States, I promise.
Alma Ross: I don't believe you. Maybe because it's I'm afraid of losing you for good.
Barney: I haven't lied to you yet.
Alma Ross: Oh, Barney...
Barney: All right, name one.
Alma Ross: That you're an engineer.
Barney: But I am.
Alma Ross: You're here on vacation.
Barney: I am.
Alma Ross: That I'm the most fascinating woman you've ever met.
Barney: You... (chuckles) you should have been a lawyer.
Riva: Oh, uh, Captain, one point to remember. If it wasn't for us habitual offenders, you would have nothing to do.
Jim: He has a right see counsel, you know.
Chief Manuel Corba: "Right"?
Jim: Yes.
Chief Manuel Corba: A much-abused word. What about "guilt"? What about "responsibility", hmm?
Riva: I don't know what you're doing, Barney, but you do concentrate very good. I could never concentrate so.
Barney: You have to concentrate to be a good bookmaker.
Riva: I never was a very good bookmaker. Barney, you will not leave me?
Barney: No, I won't leave you, Riva.
Analysis
If there is any candidate for Barney's future wife, and the mother of his son Grant Collier in the
sequel TV series, it would have to be Alma Ross. Barney refers to his wife in
"The Condemned" but no name is ever given there. However, Alma is the only serious romance that Barney has in the seven years of the the series, and Grant is gifted artistically as well as technically. Of course, Grant's mother could be someone entirely different, but Alma would have to be the only on-screen character who qualifies.
