Halloween - Recap

The scene opens Claire chopping carrots when suddenly she cuts off her hand. Luke knows that she is trying to scare him with a fake hand for Halloween, but when he grabs it, the severed hand grabs Luke’s hand. It is Phil and they scared Luke. Claire tells that Halloween is her favorite holiday and that she always likes to scare people. At Mitchell and Cameron’s, Mitchell is getting into a Spiderman costume and tells that everyone is dressing up for Halloween because he heard two people talking about dressing up. Cameron tells that Halloween is not a good day for him and Mitchell tells him that he has to go. Back at Claire and Phil’s, Claire tells the kids to make sure that they have their costumes ready. Alex tells that she doesn’t have hers ready and Claire tells her to hurry up. Haley comes out dressed in shorts and a tank top with cat ears and a tail. Claire sends her to change and tells that she doesn’t want people asking her if she has a rough tongue.

Claire calls Jay and asks if he has a costume this year and he tells that Gloria is picking them up. He calls Gloria and she confirms that she has the costumes and Manny is helping Jay understand what Gloria is saying because of her accent. Mitchell pulls up to work and there are only two people dressed up besides him. As the two walk by, the other lawyers in the firm call them a tool and douche. Mitchell has his Spiderman costume. He calls to Cameron and asks what he is going to do. Cameron reminds him that he forgot the dry-cleaning from the trunk. He walks into work and his boss tells him how stupid the two lawyers look and Mitchell is dragged to a meeting before he can change out of the costume. Back at Phil and Claire’s, Phil goes outside to test the decorations and sees his neighbor Jerry. He tells that Judy left him. Jerry tells that Judy found him not delightful. He is sad and walks back inside and Phil walks away and is scared from the decoration. Phil goes inside and starts to ask Claire if she finds him delightful and she ignores him.

Back at the Law firm, Mitchell is in the meeting and he can barely move in his suit without it squeaking. Mitchell tells that every time he tried to get out of the costume, he was dragged back into another meeting and says that it was the worst Halloween ever. Cameron chimes in and tells that his Halloween was worse. Gloria comes in and tells that Jay got a package and says that she told his secretary to buy a box of the favorite cheeses. He gives her a hard time about her accent and Gloria tells him to tell what she mispronounces. Jay tells her a list of things and she gets frustrated. Jay opens the box and asks what is inside. Gloria tells that she ordered the little cheeses, but what Jay’s secretary understood was little Jesus. Jerry tells Phil that he can’t be the scarecrow this year and Phil asks what he could have done differently to save his marriage. Jerry tells that if he was a little bit more sexy or spontaneous maybe. Phil walks off and is scared by the decoration again. Claire is putting up decorations still and Haley walks out in a sexy nurse outfit and Clair sends her back again. Phil comes in and tries to be sexy with Claire and spontaneous and she tells that she want to get down, they fight on the latter until they fall off and onto the floor.

At Mitchell’s work, he runs into the bathroom to change and drops his pants in the toilet. He tries to dry them when the janitor comes in and he runs into the stall, forgetting his shirt. The janitor picks it up and Mitchell calls Cameron. He tells that he has another suit in the car, but no way of getting to it. Cameron tells his to use the Spiderman powers. Mitchell climbs down the drainage pipes and gets to the parking lot, but car alarms go off and everyone in the building looks down on him. The Halloween party is ready and Haley comes out dressed as Mother Teresa but it is still too short of a dress and is skin tight. Claire doesn’t have time and tells her to cover up with something. Claire gives everyone their orders and Mitchell is the scarecrow, Cameron is the head on the plate, Alex is the girl in the cage. Gloria and Jay arrive and Gloria talks in an American accent. Cameron tells that he is not up to it. He tells that he was 10 years old and there was a bucket of candy that said take on, his friend Timmy took the whole bucket. The bag broke when they were leaving and the crowd of children came and Timmy said that Cameron did it.

Trick or Treaters come to the door and they try to scare them, but everything goes wrong. Claire tells that was a practice after the fog machine doesn’t work, Gloria talks in American accent and is not scary, and Cameron is complaining about his worst Halloween. When they try again the family doesn’t do a good job again and Gloria tells that Claire doesn’t understand what it means to be different and walks out. Jay follows her out and tells that he fell in love with her because of her accent and for her not to lose it. Mitchell stands up Gloria punches him in the face. They walk in and Mitchell tells that they are leaving because Gloria punched him. Claire gives up and says that she is done and tells that she has given up the holidays to match with everyone else’s and wants Halloween for herself and walks out. Outside, Phil tells that he has been acting weird because of Jerry and she tells that he has nothing to worry about. More trick or treaters come and this time, the family gets it right. Claire is happy. Later they are talking about Gloria’s accent and after a while she tells that it is enough.
