Boys' Night - Recap

The scene opens with Manny being happy that it is the middle of the week and Jay tells that Manny’s day ends at 2:30 pm. He says that he is still happy. Gloria gives Manny scrambled eggs instead of his usual and says that he should be trying new things. Manny tells that he doesn’t want to. Jay tells him a story on how he didn’t like crab cakes until he tried them and then he loved them. Meanwhile, Claire and Phil and the rest of the family are playing baseball with a kids bat and ball in the backyard. Phil says that it is boys against girls. Haley asks if she can go to her friend’s house and Claire says that Haley is grounded and says that they are having a family fun activity. Claire hits the ball over the fence of the Mr. Kleezak, their niegbor. Luke asks why they won’t just get the ball and Phil says that Mr. Kleezak is a mean person.

Later, Mitchell calls and asks for Alex. Haley tells that Claire took her to the oncologist. Mitchell asks if everything is alright and Haley says that she only needs new glasses. Mitchell realizes that she meant optometrist. He tells Haley that Cam and him are going out and need Alex to watch Lily. Haley offers herself to watch Lily and Cam signals that it is a bad idea. She tells that she won’t charge them anything and Mitchell agrees. Cam asks what he is thinking and Mitchell says that they are going to give Haley a chance to be responsible. Cam is not happy with the decision. Meanwhile, Luke goes over to Mr. Kleezak’s house and asks to get his ball back from his backyard. He tells him to leave, but Luke is persistent and eventually gets Mr. Kleezak to allow him to get the ball.

Later that evening, Alex comes downstairs that she just saw on the news that a flock of birds fell from the sky and says that it is not safe. Claire tells her that she needs to stop watching the news. Alex asks if she is supposed to live her life in ignorance. Luke comes in and says that he is going to go watch “High Noon” with his friend Walt. Claire asks who Walt is and after Luke says that he has an oxygen tank, Claire and Phil realize that it is Mr. Kleezak who Luke is friends with. Claire says that they need to go and meet Mr. Kleezak. Haley arrives at Mitchell and Cam’s and says that she will do fine with Lily and for Cam and Mitchell to get their “gay” on. Jay, Gloria and Manny arrive at the Symphony of the “Four Seasons” and Jay says that she thought that they were going to be seeing “Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons”. He says that he doesn’t like the music only concerts and says that he is going to the bar. Manny asks him what happened to the person who loved crab cakes. He tells him that it is different. They go without him.

At the bar, Mitchell and Cam meet up with Pepper, Longinus and Chrispin and they talk about their first boy crush. Mitchell is about to tell his boy crush and Cam sees that Jay walked into the bar. Mitchell tells them to turn it off for one second and asks them not to invite him over, but Pepper invites him over. Jay says that he will stay around for a while. They are not shy with Jay at all and Mitchell feels uncomfortable about it. Meanwhile, Claire and Phil walk up to Mr. Kleezak’s house and see that he is not moving. They go inside and poke him. He wakes up and startles Claire and Phil. Claire tells that Luke can’t be hanging out with him because he is an old man. He tells that he never wanted Luke to see him and tells Claire and Phil that they need to watch out for Luke more. Back at the restaurant, Jay is having a fun time and Mitchell feels comfortable around Jay and Cam looks at his phone and calls Haley. He says that he saw a boy walk through the room and Haley sees that Cam has been spying on her with the web cam on the computer. She is apauled and hangs up the phone. She looks over at Dylan and tells him that he has to leave.

Mitchell says that he crush was Rob Lowe. Jay tells that he is attractive and that it is only normal. They have fun and Pepper tries to sing “Walk Like a Man” and says that he pulled something. The next morning, Dylan calls Haley and says that he left his shoes at her uncles’ house. Luke goes over to Walt and says that he could have been nicer to his parents. He says that it is because of Walt that he can’t go to his house and learn stuff. He tells that he doesn’t need the aggravation. At Jay’s, he is trying to open the aspirin and asks for Gloria’s help. She tells that he should have gone to the symphony with them. Mitchell calls and tells that he had a fun time with him and it was nice. Pepper calls on the other line and says that he is going to be at his house soon. Jay clicks back to Mitchell and asks why Pepper is coming to his house and Mitchell says that they set up a date. Jay asks Gloria to help him get out of it. She tells that she will.

Pepper arrives and Gloria says that she is fine and that he can enjoy the entire day with Pepper. At Phil and Claire’s, Alex tells that there were a herd of cows dropped dead for no reason. She tells them to get their affairs in order. Phil tells that there is nothing out there to be afraid of. He opens the door and is startled by Mr. Kleezak and he has onions form his garden. They say that is sweet and Mr. Kleezak says that he was a fireman and would never hurt kids. Claire allows Luke to continue going over to his house. Mitchell tells that people are always changing and that they get used to their new surroundings. Later, Haley comes by and tries to find Dylan’s shoes at Cam and Mitchell’s and Cam can see right through her and gives Dylan’s shoes. She asks him not to tell her mom and he says for her to drive safe.
